                      IT’S BEEN SIX DAYS SINCE he woke. Spock believes the Captain’s condition is improved, glancing once over the board. Kirk’s face is flushed bright, pinker, perhaps—more alive. He’s already submitted a commendation for the efforts behind it all on behalf of the crew. And for Doctor McCoy, specifically. His fingers hover over a knight, “I received a transmission at eight hundred, this morning.”

it’s good, jim thinks, that he hasn’t really been left alone for the past six days.  between the endless flurry of nurses & staff on their rounds, bones ( frequently ) & m’benga ( less frequently, always more of a social visit ) & boyd ( once ), the physical therapist, & his friends, his room has a rotating door.  again, it’s good.  it’s easier to focus on which nurses he can con into sneaking him lemon-flavored jello or an extra serving of ice cream & if spock’s really thinking about moving his knight there -- surely not -- than it is his own thoughts.  “oh?” he asks, shifting slightly in bed.  “nothing good ever comes from a transmission that comes right at eight a.m.”

well.  “i don’t want to brag, but i walked down the hall today.  & it’s officially been four hours since i last slept so.  i guess there’s gotta be some truth to that.”

there’s this post i see every once in awhile about how kirk bugs out for enterprise’s inspection and i always like to think that after inspection he legit sleeps for like four days and that is me right now

“ hey, sweetie. it’s bedtime. ”

“ i know you’re getting sleepy. ”

“ let’s get you tucked in. ”

♩ ♩ “ you are my sunshine, my only sunshine. ”  

“ snug as a bug in a rug. ”

“ would you like me to sing you a song? ” 

“ i know you’ve had a long day. you need to get a good night’s sleep. ”

“ it’s getting late. ”

“ i washed your favorite blanket. ”

“ leave the day and all its events where they are. your number one job right now is to rest. ” 

“ you know, it can be hard to get to sleep sometimes, even when you’re really tired. ”

“ go to sleep. i’ll protect you. ” 

“ are you comfortable? ”

“ brush your teeth and get into your pajamas. ”

“ just remember that you are special, that you are loved, and that everything is going to be okay. ”

“ i love you. ”

“ why aren’t you in bed? ”

“ sweet dreams. see you in the morning. ”

“ well, i thought i’d read you a little story to help slow your mind down. ” 

“ are you ready for bed? ”

“ it’s time to start winding down to get ready for sleep. ”

“ you can relax and rest. ” 

“ okay, sweetie, it’s time to get some sleep. ”

“ i’ll stay with you until you fall asleep, okay? ”

My muse has been hiding a bad injury from your muse for days that been getting  steadily worse and worse as the days passed on and they eventually pass out. What’s your muses reaction?

"please, PLEASE want to know me." -- you keep quite literally everything bottled up, don't you? you try to be there for everyone else, but nobody has ever asked about you. you have a mental list in your head of things that you wish beyond wishing that people would ask to know about you, but nobody has. you're afraid that if you tell them, you won't get the response you crave, which gets more and more mysterious and gut-wrenchingly necessary with every day that goes by in silence. it feels like you aren't allowed to exist.

i have the urge to write ( shhhh!  you’ll scare it away! )  but have to get through monday at work.  bleh i just want it to be over already.  the past month and a halfish have been an incredibly long stretch of projects and challenges and i’ve been clocking like 10 hrs of sleep multiple nights a week bc i am So Tired.  but we’re at the end so thank god for that.  but like.

i want to write.  i miss jim.  i miss u frands.  i just gotta see this through, my dudes.  thanks for bearing with the constant radio silence/lack of muse/lack of ability to write <3<3<3<3<3<3<3
