deity work, spirit work, and astral ask meme
not me making another ask meme because i am bored and couldn’t think of anything else to do to pass the time before my next class starts lol
Are there any deities that you worship? If so, who? If not, are there any you are interested in?
How did you know you were experiencing a calling towards a particular deity?
Are there any misconceptions about the deities you worship that you wish would just go away?
Are there any stories and legends about your deity/ies that actually have truth to them or are most of them heavily exaggerated?
If you practice spirit work, how did you get involved in spirit work?
Do you have any spirit companions and if so how many?
What are your preferred methods of spirit and/or deity communication?
What do you consider your spirit work ‘area of expertise’?
A type of spirit you think is unappreciated and deserves more attention by spirit workers?
Have you ever astral projected or otherwise astral traveled?
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve encountered in the astral?
What’s the most interesting place you’ve encountered in the astral (if you feel comfortable revealing)?
Best bit of advice for beginner spirit workers that you can think of?
What’s a misconception about the spirit work community that you wished could be cleared?
How do you think the spirit work community could improve/what do you think the spirit work community could do better?

Since this fucking guy:
Has been front and center in every news article I’ve been reading, let me just reiterate something.
Norse Paganism has no room for fascists, nazis, Trumpers, alt-righters, Proud Boys, or whatever else they call themselves.
They are the lowest of the low, and Niddhogr will gnaw on their bones for all eternity.
He is a cowardly and foolish fanboy of the Viking Age, and an embarrassment to us all.

Devotional Days to Hel
I wanted to make a post about what my devotional days are like. For those new to this blog I worship Hel, the Norse Goddess of the dead. I’ve been honoring her over a year; and this last October I devoted myself to her completely. That being said; Saturdays are the days where almost every part of my day is spent as a devotional to her. I start with my outfit choice of the day; I wear all black, or black-and-white. I veil my hair in addition to my outfit; the veil I wear is also black(though on rare occasion I will wear a blue one). From there I head over to the altar space I have for Hel; I light her candle and do an offering of rose incense and a libation-- today’s libation was coffee. I recite my prayers to her and spend time meditating before her altar which is then followed by divination. The cards I draw are to be my focus for the week to come. Afterwards I devote my yoga practice to her and do so before her altar space, allowing my mind and body to find a grounding and balancing energy. The rest of the day is spent reading books(or the occasional video) and focusing on death specifically and how I’m learning to accept death energy in to my life. I take some time to journal in my home-made Memento Mori journal. (I’ve only just started the journal, but I hope to share ideas pertaining to it soon.)
At the end of the day I once more mediate in front of her altar. This one being much more focused than the morning meditation.

Hey if you're a Norse polytheist, Norse pagan, post a lot related to the subject, can you rb this? Any recommendations are great too!
🌈☀️🌈
(In case anyone's up for mutuals, I'm a 28 y/o queer Norse and Hellenic pagan of ~6 years. On the Norse side I'm a devotee of Týr, Loki, and sorta Odin. I worship others though as well ofc!)
I'd like to find more blogs to follow since my dash is heavily skewed to the Hellenic side of my worship atm.
Fascists don't even look at this post I swear to fuck no one wants you anywhere here.

Day 25 of Norse November. Hel is the daughter of Loki and Angurboða, and the young queen of well, hel. Ever since birth one half of her body has been vital and alive and the other half cold and dead. She was appointed to rule over the land of the dishonored dead in the heart of Niflheim, she’s well respected and does her job well despite her age ruling over the souls of the departed who couldn’t quite make it to Valhalla or Folkvangr. She has a fittingly dour and cold presence to her as the queen of a cold and melancholic landscape.

Currently Reading
Of Blood and Bones; Working with Shadow Magick and the Dark Moon.
So I want to share a bit of my journey as I read through this book and try out the various things/rituals/crafts available in it and share my thoughts here .This book has been on my ‘to-read’ list for awhile and I was finally able to pick up a copy. I’ve read through Part 1 and wanted to share my thoughts here...
Chapter 1 and I'm intrigued. I really like the idea of working more with the dark moon and how the author has added their spin on doing a devotional ritual of sorts. As someone who honors a death deity and the energy associated with it-- this is something I really want to add to my life. I may try and find a proper space for a dark moon altar, as the books mentions this or make it more small and travel sized and I do have the perfect sized box for this. It gives ideas for objects to represent each direction, thought is does focus on a darker/destructive side of the elements which I really like and ashes is one suggested for South and like I do have ashes from a fire that actually hold great significance for me. Chapter 2; so far it is covering various deities/beings associated with "darker" aspects. It covers psychopomps and underworld deities-- though personally I feel it only catered to the more 'negative' aspects. However, the author did make a note at the start that this is a very brief overview of them and should you want to get to know said deity/being better that you do heavy research on them. overall it was okay. It focused on some different deities/beings. It went on to mention to always give offerings if/when working with them. It did suggest to meditate with a deity you feel drawn to to better get to know them. They mentioned(and I was really happy to see this) that to look at more than the deity when it comes to what culture and practice they come from. The author more or less said "Hey don't appropriate from a culture for aesthetic reasons" Get to actually know and understand the culture and deity. The invoking of deity was rather short and I felt like it could have covered that section a bit better; but it does give a rather quick and basic idea of it. This book doesn't quite assume that you are new to witchcraft and seems to hope you have at least a basic understanding. Chapter 3 was all about crafting which consisted of making death oil, death candles and incense and witch's salt. A couple of them require/suggest you gather and I guess bless? the material during the dark moon and I'm super tempted to try them out. Chapter 4 was all about divination and what they referred to as "Junk Oracle"(Throwing lots) which I've seen this type of divination and sort of want to try it out for myself. I will be trying a lot of what was in the first part and can't wait to start on Part 2 which looks to be going over the more "taboo" things.
So yeah; these are my thoughts about what I’ve read of the book so far. I plan to tackle some of the earlier rituals/devotionals and share my experience on that as well. My first thing will be to make a dark moon altar of sorts.

My devotion to Hel
This has been a whirlwind of a weekend for me. I can’t begin to describe the pure amount of time and energy that went in to the preparation of devoting myself to my goddess. This was not a sudden impulse idea and I’ve been sitting on this thought; this act and dedication since August of this year. It’s been on my mind. This past week; during the second full moon of October-- I did it. I announced to the universe, my ancestors and myself that I wanted to dedicate myself to my goddess; the Norse Goddess Hel. It started with a wonderful cleansing bath; scented with eucalyptus and rose petals scattered in the water. I meditated on what I was about to undertake. I thought of cleansing myself properly before coming before the altar- clothed only in a veil that I’ve dedicated to my goddess. I took my time cleansing myself and my space making it sacred and safe. When I was ready- I gave my offerings to Hel; toasting and praising to her. I won’t share here exactly what was said-- but it was heartfelt and I meant every word. I carry this promise with me even know- reminding myself that I go through my life with compassion and with love. With the understanding that I will eventually come to an end of this life. I’m learning still to embrace that. Upon completion of my promise and my offerings to Hel; I meditated on all that I had just undertaken and what it meant going forward. I received a deep chill on my bones; on the side of my body my veil didn’t cover. This wasn’t your typical chill that occurs on the surface of the skin. I felt it and I felt it deep. The sort of cold you can feel that almost feels burning. It didn’t last long, but it was a very surreal experience and one I hold close to me. I don’t yet know what happens going forward, but I eagerly await to embrace it.

I’m not super super active/vocal about my relationship with Hel, but I do honor her and would love to have more people/devotees to talk with!
sometimes I feel like the only hel devotee left in this platform, like, are there any active hel focused blogs around anymore? on the other hand I'm one to talk cause I also am rarely active (which is, among other reasons) due to the scarcity of hel blogs to reblog from and interact with 😕
