Faith Seed is not Rachel Jessop

And this doesn’t mean Faith is now so different from the person she used to be that it’s like they are two different people. I literally mean Faith’s name was never Rachel Jessop.

Faith’s “real name” is on her Wiki page but it’s worth noting that no citation is provided in the References section. The article simply says, “In-game dialogue from Tracey, as well as a phone recording from Faith herself, reveals her name to be Rachel Jessop”. Except the answering machine message in question (Eden’s Convent), what Tracey says, and also the letter she wrote to her best friend (Eden’s Convent) just confirm Faith’s real first name is Rachel.

There is (or was) someone named Rachel Jessop in Hope County. She owned the Jessop Conservatory, the place where Eden’s Gate first made Bliss. She is mentioned by Dutch or Whitehorse when you liberate the outpost:

“Rachel Jessop turned the conservatory over to the cult a while back. She couldn’t smell the stink on them, I suppose. I hear that’s where they figured out how to turn those flowers into Bliss. The Angels, the Judges, the mist… They all started in that fucking place. Thank God you shut it down.” - Dutch

“Word around here is Rachel Jessop turned that conservatory over to the cult a while back. Didn’t see Eden’s Gate for what they were, I suppose. Or maybe she just didn’t care. Folks say that’s where the cult figured out how to turn all those flowers into the Bliss. The Angels, the Judges, the mist… They all started in that miserable place. Thank God you shut it down, Rook!” - Sheriff Whitehorse

Rachel, the Bliss… To be fair, it does sound a lot like Faith, but it’s still not enough to be certain they are the same person.

Further down in the article, we find this:

Surely, it must be true, then, right? Well, these “.wem” files are sound files. The problem is 99% of people can’t or won’t check what they actually say.

As you can see, there is no mention of Faith. Claiming that she was born in the Jessop family, that “Doctor Jessop” was her father, that he was trying to save people, and that the “nice lady” was her mother seems like a huge stretch to me. It only sounds logical if you’re already convinced Faith is Rachel Jessop.

I found two other interesting sound files:

2068215817: “The Jessop family was always big into conservation and shit like that.” - Resistance Female 03

So Doctor Jessop is not a man. Doctor Jessop is the “nice lady” who had orchids. And she was not trying to save people, she was trying to save wildlife. “Doctor” doesn’t automatically mean “physician”, it just means she has a PhD, and no one says she is related to Faith.

In fact, I think Faith wasn’t even born in Hope County. The Wiki says she was but, again, no citation is provided. Someone just assumed she was, just like someone randomly decided she was 24 years old.

When Whitehorse reveals Tracey and Faith used to be friends, he says they were “part of some free-spirit movement out West”. “Out West” could mean Holland Valley but it could very well mean “out of the county”, and I think it does.

Dutch has notes on the Seed family in his bunker. About Faith, he wrote, “Don’t know how she’s related – seems like she just showed up one day”. As @teamhawkeye pointed out in the replies to my last post, this implies he had never met this “Faith” before. And we know he knew who Rachel Jessop was because he mentions her when we liberate the Conservatory. If they really were the same person, he would have known. Someone would have recognized her, and yet no one seems to know her real name but Tracey… Plus, at least two NPCs say she came to Hope County to “detox”, which confirms she used to live somewhere else.

And if you are still not convinced, let me present you with the ultimate piece of evidence.

Thanks to @xbaebsae, we have access to “oasisstrings” on the website she created: text.farcry.info. “Oasisstrings” is basically every “text string” in the game’s files: subtitles, mission objectives, notes, descriptions, etc. Here is what I believe is the description of the Jessop Conservatory from the removed in-game encyclopedia:

“Dr. Rachel Jessop created this place to protect and research at-risk flora and fauna. After budget cuts gutted her funding, Eden’s Gate bought her out and devoted the facilities to developing potent strains of Bliss flowers.”

So Dr. Rachel Jessop is a conservation scientist, like Dr. Sarah Perkins. She owned the Jessop Conservatory and was trying to save endangered species. She is not Faith Seed.

Faith Seed and Rachel Jessop are not the same Rachel.
