I forgot–I did sew some doll clothes again in 2000, for the Jakks Pacific 12″ GIRL Force gals, and for this 16″ Jakks Pacific Elle

but I didn’t get serious about sewing doll clothes until I ��discovered’ female action figures in late 2001, and that’s when I got my own digital camera (the one used for the 2000 photos…I didn’t get in the divorce) and all those photos have been on all of my hard drives and easily accessible ever since. (I did save these to my hdd, so I shouldn’t have to poke through that CD-R again)

With Easter fast approaching with its spiked rabbit sales and subsequent spiked rabbit abandonment rates, I thought I’d use my powers for good by spreading some information I think everyone should know before they get their first bunny. I love sewing simple square patchwork but I do not love cutting all the little squares. So! I finally convinced myself to get a die cutter.

This dress is the result of my first test of using the 30mm square die. I had gathered this assortment of fabrics from my scrap bin a while ago, and yesterday cut as many little squares as possible from it, leaving aside only enough to cut the bodice and facing.

The doll is a G2 Mattel DCSHG Cat Woman head on a Rainbow High body. The skirt is, honestly, a little longer than I like, but this definitely gives me a solid idea of how many squares to cut for similar dresses in the future.

I'm overall happy with this test dress, although there are still things I'm figuring out about using the die cutter. Learning curves for everything!
