Owl knew Sam wasn’t a good person. She wasn’t blind, she was actually quite observant in her mind. But that didn’t mean he lacked good qualities.

For one (the most obvious reason in her mind), he’s as loyal as the day is long. He did bad things to the people he cared about, sure, but never with the intent of harming them. He just doesn’t understand, he’s ignorant to a wide array of social conventions having to do with empathy. He doesn’t know any better, because in his mind, people are means to an end. Unless, of course, you had the privilege of Sam loving you. Because when Sam loved someone, he loved them with all his heart. 

In second place would be his “immediate action” mindset. If she had to put it into words, She’d say he’s passionate. A lover and a fighter. If someone Sam loved was in trouble, he’d do anything to get them out of it. He’d steal, he’d threaten, he’d kill. All for one person he truly, genuinely loves.

She wasn’t sure if Sam loved her, as much as she’d like to believe he did. As much as she WANTED him to, there just wasn’t enough evidence of it. Sure, he did nice things for her, and included her, and did indeed care about her. But he didn’t LOVE her. Not like he loved himself, not like he loved Coolment. They did everything together. In her head, they were ride or dies. Soulmates, possibly, but she didn’t want to assume too much. She was jealous. And sometimes it stung like a bitch.

Where was she? 

It doesn’t really matter, she supposed.

No one really listened anyways. The thesis of her thoughts was as simple as this:

Sam.

Was.

Fascinating.

Beautiful.

Something new. And she REALLY wanted to be special to him.
