ZEDFEST NOMINATION!

Exciting news! Deception Pass is nominated as a Finalist at ZEDFEST, L.A.'s favorite cult horror film festival. We're very very honored.

Erik will be landing in L.A. from Paris just in time to make the final night, albeit zombified.

Cynthia’s work has taken us to Paris for a couple of weeks. After having dinner with friends, we passed this building with all the lights off except for the one room with the red curtains. It must be a horror.

Vimeo in Mexico

Just had the somewhat surreal experience of learning more about open platforms in a 15th-century hall. 

Vimeo’s Jeff Bowers, Senior Curator  of Vimeo on Demand, broke down the how-tos of DIY digital distribution for an international crowd of screenwriters and filmmakers. Thanks to him, we’ve got a few new tricks up our sleeve for getting Deception Pass made!

Wow Oaxaca!

We’re at the Oaxaca Film Festival in the beautiful mountain city of Oaxaca de Juarez. It’s a swirl of experimental film, street art, stunning baroque architecture and a very warm light. All enhanced by mezcal and delicious moles. 

The festival curated a great mix of features, docs and experimental shorts. One of the highlights was watching an evening of shorts outside while the bats flew overhead in the moonlight.

Awesome! We made it to the semi-finals in the Manhattan Short Screenplay Competition. Fingers crossed!!

UZUMAKI. A truly graphic novel that gets a mention in our short film and plays a minor role in the plot twist of the story.  (If you know anything about this book, you’ll enjoy that.)

Official Selection: Oregon Shorts Film Festival!

We are thrilled to have our script, Deception Pass, accepted to the Oregon Shorts Film Festival.  This will be OSFF’s first year, and they will be holding the event at the Avalon Theater.

A quick side note, for those of you who do not know about the Avalon, it’s a throwback to the days of old penny arcades and movie theaters. While there are a few games of the modern variety, there are still quite a lot of old-fashioned classics that are in keeping with its original vintage decor. I could watch old Popeye cartoons there all day.
