Ada hummed, almost as if she were deep in thought, even though she already knew extremely well what her gameplan was - she had from the beginning. She locked eyes with Agent Harper before saying, "Not so much that as you could hide the weapons, keep them out of sight with appropriate harnesses. And you could dress more . . . Well, not like that . . . ."

Agent Harper's arms came uncrossed then, but her jaw set with obvious growing anger. Still, she let Ada finish.

". . . . We'll say you're an agent working for me, someone who gets me roles. Perfect cover."

"You're agent?" Harper asked, incredulous. "You've got to be kidding me?"

"Well, you don't have to be my agent, or even any sort of person working for me," Ada began, now anticipating the woman's reaction to what she was about to say. "If you're unhappy with that option, we could always go for something more like, if you'd prefer, Agent Harper, a new lover?"

Facts About HOWL’S MOVING CASTLE (2004)

The film is based on Dianne Wynne Jones’ 1986 novel of the same name. Jones herself had no input in the production, saying “I write books, not films,” and “”It’s likely to be very different, but that’s as it should be. It will still be a fantastic film.”

While the movie is one of Hayao Miyazaki’s most notable works, in the early stages of production, Mamoru Hosoda (Summer Wars, Wolf Children, Mirai, Girl Who Leapt Through Time, & The Boy and the Beast) was set to direct. Only after he left the production abruptly was Miyazaki signed on.

In the English dub of the film, Young Sophie and Old Sophie are played by separate actresses - Emily Mortimer and Jean Simmons. However, in the Japanese version, they are both played by the same person - Chieko Baisho. The reasons for this, according to Miyazaki, were that while Sophie’s appearance changes, her thoughts don’t, and it would be impossible for two different actors to play the thoughts of the same person accurately.

Christian Bale had been so impressed by Miyazaki’s previous film Spirited Away that he agreed to play any role in the English version of the movie. He ended up landing the role of Howl.

A full year before Howl’s Moving Castle’s release in Japanese theaters, Miyazaki flew all the way to the UK to give author Dianne Jones her own private screening.

The film earned 1.48 BILLION yen in its first two days at the Japanese box office, actually beating Spirited Away by 40%.

It ended up being nominated for Best Animated Film at the 2006 Academy Awards, losing to Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
