Here we are with the Monday update! From now on, I will post once a week, until the end of the fic. I still don’t know how many chapters there will be, but I’m currently 10 chapters ahead! So we won’t run out of chapters any time soon. ☺️
Please be aware that in this chapter there’s plenty of cosiness but also a brief discussion centering on homophobia.
Apart from this, I hope you have a helluva read!
Find it here 👇

An excerpt:
“Crowley! I did not expect you at this hour! Did you close the shop early?”
Crowley shrugged and sauntered over to the counter. “Yeah, there wasn’t anyone around, and there was only about half an hour left anyway…” he said, glancing around and briefly pausing on the lone customer. The girl glanced back at him. “And besides, I wanted to bring you this tea blend before ye started brewin’ somethin’ for when I got here.”
As he spoke, Crowley rummaged through his bag and pulled out a paper pouch. He handed it to the bookseller. “Buckhorn, wild rosella, and mullein. I hope ye like it.”
Aziraphale accepted the pouch delicately. “A break from alcohol—a good idea. Thank you. I’ll put it on as soon as I am done here.”
At that point, Aziraphale instinctively glanced at the girl still lingering in the bookshop. Crowley followed his gaze, and they both ended up staring at the customer.
The girl seemed to sense their stares piercing through her because she looked up from yet another book she was photographing and gave them an embarrassed smile.
“Er… I guess I’ll leave you to it. Have a good evening!” she said before hurrying out of the shop.
Crowley snorted.
Aziraphale shrugged. “She wasn’t going to buy anything anyway.”

First chapter of the Year! Happy 2025! Hope this year will be gentle on you.
This will be the last double-update I had scheduled for the festivities! After this, I will resume posting once a week, on Mondays!
Have a cozy chapter about decorating a Christmas tree. ☺️🎄
An excerpt:
Crowley followed him through the maze of shelves, letting out an impressed whistle when he saw the tree. “Ye’ve certainly gone big.”
“Well, the bookshop is big—it needed a tree to match…” Aziraphale replied before adding, “Let me put on some music to accompany us.”
He made his way to the gramophone and put on one of his favorite Ella Fitzgerald records—he had already decided on the music that morning while daydreaming about this moment.
As the notes of All Through the Night filled the shop, Aziraphale returned to the tree and opened a box with purpose. “Shall we get started?” he proposed.
“Let’s,” Crowley replied. “I really want to taste that focaccia.”
Without further delay, the two got to work. Aziraphale meticulously opened all the boxes of decorations, unearthing a mix of old and new ornaments. He had baubles dating back to his grandfather’s time alongside others he’d bought just last week. The combination might not have been the epitome of aesthetic perfection, but Aziraphale was going for personality. He wanted a tree that reflected the diverse character of the bookshop—both its history and its modern charm.
They started with the lights, white and gold to match the rest of the decorations scattered around. Aziraphale decided to stay firmly on the ground and let Crowley climb the ladder to string the lights on the higher branches—“You are taller; it will be easier for you!”—partly to watch him struggle with the slightly rickety steps and chuckle, and partly to spare his back, which still ached from hauling Crowley’s comic book boxes the wrong way a few days ago.
Aziraphale had a clear idea of how the lights should be arranged, while Crowley advocated for a more creative approach—“I’ll just toss ‘em and see where they land! That’ll look fine.” As a result, they spent a while bickering.

AAAAAAAAAH new fic from one of my fav fic writers! 🥹
It’s even better once the streetlights turn on. He doesn’t take off the sunglasses, of course, but there’s not much nicer than slow jazz on a summer evening with a cute guy watching his every move with such bright interest.
Chapter 1: “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” (Roberta Flack / First Take / Track 6) is LIVE!! Hope you’re ready for a big new adventure! Come meet Ant and Azlan and fall in love all over again 💛
In His Hand a Burning Coal (rated E) will update every Tuesday! If you have a fear of WIPs, I totally understand, but please note that I a) am a fast and obsessive writer, b) have an excellent track record of maintaining a posting schedule ("Find the Light" and "Sky Clear Blue" together represent five solid months of faithful updates), and c) am currently ELEVEN CHAPTERS AHEAD with the writing, and with a once-a-week schedule we're on track to have a beautifully uninterrupted run.

Last chapter of the year! Happy New Year to everyone. 🥳☺️
I hope this chapter finds you well.
Little warning: there’s some unwanted flirting in this chapter. It’s brief and not explicit in any significant way, but it’s there. Just in case unwanted attentions unsettle you.
Apart from that, I hope you have a helluva read!

An excerpt:
After a pause, determined to distract Crowley, Aziraphale clapped his hands together and rubbed them briskly. “Right! Let’s see what I am up against today. Open the magical doors to your storage and archive, and let’s see how we can sort it all out.”
Crowley chuckled. “Oh, angel, ye’ve got no idea what ye’re in for.”
With that, Crowley placed his half-finished beer bottle on the counter, pulled a small remote from his pocket, and pressed a button. The shop’s shutters began to lower, sealing them inside. Then Crowley moved behind the counter, heading towards the shelves behind his usual perch.
Aziraphale noticed a handle tucked between the shelves. In that moment, he realised that the wall of shelves wasn’t a wall at all—it was a perfectly camouflaged door. Crowley opened it, revealing the shop’s storeroom.
It looked as though a bomb had gone off.
To put it mildly.
Aziraphale was greeted by stacks upon stacks of comic boxes, both wrapped and unwrapped. Like the shop’s front, the room was narrow but tall, with shelves stretching all the way to the ceiling. The boxes were piled high, and ladders with wheels were dotted around to help reach the upper levels. The space felt like a miniature shrine entirely dedicated to comics.
Of course, there were boxes on the floor as well, and in the centre of the room sat a small, narrow table stacked with comics still wrapped in cellophane. The only surface not covered in comics was the ceiling.
“Those are the latest arrivals,” Crowley said, pointing to the comics on the table. “The rest is… archive. Storage. There are even a few valuable complete collections in there.”
Aziraphale took it all in and then turned to Crowley. “This will be… challenging.”
Crowley snorted. “That’s an understatement. Ye still wanna have a go? Ye can back out now if ye like.”
At that, Aziraphale gave him an amused, resolute smile. “Anthony, my dear,” he began, deliberately emphasising the my dear just as he had during his earlier pantomime, “you are talking to a seasoned bookseller with a passion for archives. I spend most of my time reorganising and cataloguing dusty old books. This is my domain.”

A bit late xmas (kinda) picture... One of my Roman Empires - the Great Christmas Truce of 1914. Of course I couldn't help but imagine the azicrowley in this setting
Their first (and only, as they are sure for many years) meeting, the memory of which they will cherish for ages.
(Please please forgive me historians and all history fans. I diligently studied all the material, and then neglected it for the sake of artistic expression 😭)

Hiiii! I hope you had a nice Christmas, or that you get to spend your holidays with someone dear to you. In any case, I send you a hug! 🫂
And this fluffy festive chapter! 🎄
Lots of mulled wine and flirting going on. 😏
I leave an excerpt for you:
Once at the Leicester Square Christmas market, Aziraphale began to feel the festive air that was steadily enveloping London. The lights of the various stalls glittered like stars, their red roofs were cheerful, the chatter of the crowds was merry, and the scent of sweets, coffee, and mulled wine filled the air. It was perhaps a bit too crowded for his liking, but the general atmosphere more than made up for it, lifting his spirits. Walking arm in arm with Maggie certainly helped keep him grounded in the moment, providing him with a comforting sense of companionship. Maggie was so sweet and warm, it was impossible not to feel at ease in her presence.
“Oh, Mr Fell!” Maggie exclaimed suddenly, pointing at a stall a little way ahead. “Shall we get some brownies? They look delicious! I wonder if they’ve got butterscotch ones?”
Aziraphale turned to her, delighted. “Oh, absolutely! I want one with salted caramel.”
Moments later, they had bought their brownies and were eating them on the spot, giggling and doing little dances of delight.
They continued their stroll through the market, chatting and nibbling as they went.
At one point, however, Aziraphale stopped listening to Maggie. Her voice became a background murmur, one among many blending into the buzz of the crowd. His attention had suddenly locked on a point ahead of him, in the middle of the street.
A few metres away, a shadow of black stood out starkly against the sea of festive colours: Crowley. This time, Aziraphale was painfully aware of the small flutter in his heart as his gaze fell on the figure he’d been thinking about all week.
Though dressed in his usual all-black attire, Crowley somehow seemed to be glowing. Like a black hole, he had the uncanny ability to absorb all the light around him and reflect it back as an ethereal halo.
He wasn’t alone.
He was talking to someone else—Nina. The two of them were chatting and laughing as they sipped mulled wine from paper cups.
“Oh, Mr Fell! Look who’s there!” Maggie exclaimed a moment later when she, too, noticed Nina and Crowley amidst the crowd. But Aziraphale was already looking in their direction and responded only by giving Maggie’s arm a gentle squeeze. Maggie seemed to notice—the glance, the squeeze.
“Why don’t we go say hello?” she suggested cheerfully. And without waiting for a reply, still linked arm-in-arm and effectively dragging him along, she led Aziraphale towards the pair.

Good evening, ya’ll! I hope the holidays are treating you well. In any case, I hope this chapter will add to the cheer, or uplift you a bit.
In this new chapter, Aziraphale and Crowley pick each other’s next reads! Do let me know what you think about these two new books. 😉
An excerpt:
“So, how shall we proceed with the next pick? What criteria are we usin’ this time?”
Aziraphale thought for a moment, casting an eye over the shelves for inspiration. “Well… the first prompt was about finding a book in a genre we enjoy. The second prompt could focus on another common request from customers: they tell you a book they liked, and you have to find them something similar.”
Crowley considered the idea. “Hmm, could work… and who’s playin’ the customer?”
“I’ll do it!” Aziraphale offered immediately, not giving Crowley the chance to suggest otherwise. “Since you need to flex those bookseller muscles, I’ll sacrifice myself and be your test subject.”
“Oh, how noble.”
“I’ll choose a book I like, which you, for good measure, will have to read… and I will read whatever you suggest as its counterpart.”
“Hmm, alright,” Crowley agreed, “but only if next time we switch around. I’ll throw ye a curveball, and ye’ll have to handle it.”
Aziraphale’s eyes sparkled mischievously. “Deal!”
Crowley laughed, amused by how poor Aziraphale was at pretending to be malicious. “Alright then, go ahead—throw me yer curveball. Let’s see if I can turn it into a boomerang and send it right back at ye.”
Aziraphale’s face lit up. He turned towards the shelves, straightening his waistcoat. The cogs in his mind whirred at full speed. “Hmm… I am a customer who loves adventure, with a touch of magic, perhaps, and I adore stories about friendship. My favourite novel is…”
