NEWS: New Slant’s ‘Deceived’ aka. ‘Magdalena’ gets New Trailer before Cannes
Thursday May 8th, 2014 by horrorbug
New Slant Productions has released a new trailer for their forthcoming horror thriller ‘Deceived’, formerly titled ‘Magdalena’, directed by Carlos Jimenez Flores and starring Sevier Crespo, Mike Falkow, Betsy Landin and David Paladino. Heading for the Cannes film market later this month, we get a gritty look inside the life of a man who returns to Puerto Rico to help his sister get her life together only to find she has been missing for a week. Come on onside and check it out. Alejandro (Sevier Crespo) returns to his home in Puerto Rico, to help his sister Magdalena (Betsy Landin) get her life together. Only to find out from an old acquaintance, Detective Garcia (Carlos Esteban Fonseca), that Magdalena has gone missing. Led to a bar in old San Juan, he discovers that not only was Magdalena working as an exotic dancer, but she was dating a drug dealing surfer Laz (Mike Falkow). Here Alejandro tries to piece together the events that led to her disappearance and struggles to wrap his head around the interconnected nature of all the characters. Upon discovering that the bar manager, Michael (David Paladino), has a dark history and a millionaire philanthropist, Roman, is not just here to build an orphanage. Alejandro starts to realize that not everything is as it seems.
‘Deceived’ was shot entirely on location in San Juan, Puerto Rico and was co-produced by U.s. based New Slant Productions and Ricucci Films.

Minnie Driver Touts Lifetime's 'Return to Zero' at L.A. Premiere
LOS ANGELES, CA - Actor David Paladino at the Return to Zero premiere.
(Hollywood Reporter)
Driver and Paul Adelstein reflect on portraying a couple who must cope with losing their child from stillbirth.
Minnie Driver, Paul Adelstein and Alfred Molina touted their Lifetime original movie Return to Zero at the Paramount Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday.
The film follows a married couple (Driver and Adelstein) as they deal with the aftermath of losing a child from stillbirth and journey through a second pregnancy. Writer-director-producer Sean Hanish based the film on what he calls the most painful experience of his life: when he and his wife had to cope with losing their child from stillbirth.
"The film is about breaking the silence because nobody has ever done a film about this type of loss before," Hanish told The Hollywood Reporter. "I think it's a film that's not just about the loss of a child, but also about any type of loss and how people grieve differently." MORE...
