design of the patterns is very deliberate - lapis lazuli (or azurite, if the person is not very literate) and yellow gold, clear, strict forms and repeating plant patterns are associated with Creator, while green and rose gold, red roots and more chaotic vegetation symbolize Exdee.

if we talk about the illustration though - ender pearls naturally oxidize in the air, turning into the eyes of ender, but it happens so slowly that several generations of people would not see this transformation. to speed up oxidation, very high temperatures are used, which people achieve with the help of blaze powder, which is also used as a catalyst in many chemical processes. Exdee's got an ability to breath fire though (thanks to his dragon body), and thus the myth of him making the eyes of ender was created.
