Darkly Dawns the Duck Tribute (revisited!)

I had wanted so badly to do a new version of my “Darkly Dawns The Duck” -tribute poster for a looong time because the original shading was rushed and messy. The picture deserved better, I always liked the motif so much. Here it is now, my very own reboot in the series of current reboots everywhere, I suppose. 😁

Gosalyn glanced at the tv, not allowing herself to be distracted from it although watching tv would make her look much more inconspicuous, since she would normally be distracted by whatever cartoons might be on after school.

Noticing  that the pilot did not seem to be catching on gave her a feeling of relief, but it also made her feel bad, there was an innocence to Launchpad that made her feel bad for taking advantage of him, and also made her wonder..was he actually suspicious? Or was he clueless? She began to visibly sweat, which she knew would give her away, as she glanced at the tv, and then back at him.

"...OKAY OKAY!" she announced, finally caving. "B.but it was an accident!"

Gosalyn had had a little accident with her hockey equipment, and as much as she would have liked to pretend that it didn't happen at all, in the back of her mind, she knew that her dad, though he could be dim, wasn't stupid, and that he would find out about it sooner or later. It seemed that she had under estimated Honker's swing, and there was now a hole where one of the Muddlefoot's upper windows had been.

Taking a deep breath, which she was not unsure was her last, she entered the room, unprepared for the response that she got. "Dad...um..okay, not a good time," she muttered to herself. However, when she shut the door, she noticed that he seemed upset beyond his normal level of annoyance."Dad?" she asked, a concerned look crossing her face, as she slowly pushed open the door, once more.

DARKWING  DUCK  DOESN’T  CRY.      he’s  a  hero  -  he’s  always  ready  to  fight  crime ,  take  on  whatever  villains  may  come  knocking  at  his  door.      he’s  just  fine  on  his  own  -  he  hasn’t  needed  any  sympathy  before  &   he’s  surely  not  going  to  start  needing  it  now.      crying  doesn’t  suit  him.      crying  isn’t  how  the  terror  that  flaps  in  the  night  lets  himself  act !      and  yet …

harsh   RRAP -  RRAP -  RRAPPING !   at  the  door  would  catch  attention ,  masked  mallard  quickly  regaining  what  little  composure  he  had  let  slip.      dark  expression  furrows  his  face ,  which  sharply  turned  to  glare  at  whoever  thought  it  was  a  good  idea  to  bother  the  darkwing  duck.

“    i’m  -  i’m  a  little  busy  at  the  moment !      don’t  you  have  someone  else  you  could  barge  in  on ?    ”

"But there really was a vampire potato!"

I just…this tiny little scene, it gets me every time. The sadness in Drake’s voice when he responds absolutely breaks my heart. Their dynamic is exactly why I fell in love with this show.

Send “what happened?” for my muse to wake up with no memory of the night before, and the room completely trashed.

//FYI I wrote a "Sick Gosalyn starter" because I figured it might be good for Launchpad, though it works for any character, really. -Shrug.-//

Gosalyn stomped into the Mallard residence, her bag slung over her shoulder as she muttered to herself, and kicked at the ground, messing with a small note written on a piece of white paper which stuck out of her bag, and zipping it up in the front compartment.

“Geez, what’s the big deal? It’s not like that guy won’t ever recover from that hockey puck landing in his windpipe…” Stopping short, she froze, realization setting in as she noticed that she was not alone in her home.

“Daaaad..whatcha doin? Heh. slow night?" She tried to play innocent, hoping that he wouldn’t notice that anything was amiss, as she bounced over to him.
