Listening to this song makes me think of how far Yeng Constantino have become.

Can I just scream? “I love Yeng!” in my 5 years of idolizing her, I can say I was able to see a real artist inside of her. An artist who didn’t care about creating a buzz through intrigues, publicity and scandals instead just continued to do her own thing of speaking her heart out through her remarkable compositions and heartfelt way of singing.

Yeng Constantino isn’t your typical belter-slash-biritera  who impresses audiences by reaching the high notes and imitating international artists on stage. Her personality, her talent and her transparency as a person speak volumes. HER STYLE GROWS ON YOU. She’s the type of artist who will always make you feel you’re not alone. If her hit song, Hawak Kamay were to be a person, no doubt it would be YENG. She owns the song; the song owns her. Being a real artist isn’t just about having a name for yourself, it is also about the art you’ve been able to produce and knowing it dug a deep foundation in the hearts of many individuals means an artist has successfully served her purpose of entertaining and more importantly, inspiring not just the consumers but also the people who seeks hope and security through songs and presence of the artists they idolize. Yeng isn’t just an artist. She’s an inspiration. There are singers who just sing on stage, act on their music videos and release number of records but aren’t sharing their life to ordinary people. What I love about Yeng is that somehow her life, her roots, her interests, beliefs and even her tiny little fears are known by her supporters. She’s transparent and it’s like you know her as a friend. She shares herself through her experiences and wisdom about life. It is not everyday that you get to listen to someone singing on the radio thinking of what was bothering that singer the other night or how she enjoyed her newly found interest. Suddenly you just don’t find yourself singing, but also sharing mutual happiness with her. Yeng is a natural storyteller, it is not just evident on her songs but also with her stories and insights on her blog, facebook and twitter page. The power of social networking sites! They create a bridge to let you walk closer enough to your idol, blurt out your appreciation and send your constructive yet helpful comments.

Looking back, I was just a simple girl singing Avril Lavigne’s hits and enjoying the boyband hits of yesterday. But that was then, because of Yeng Constantino my heart was opened to the beauty of OPM now. I started to appreciate Pinoy bands even more! Pop Rock became one of my favourite genres and I remember being driven and inspired to learn the guitar because of her. What we did to change her life is tinier compared to what she actually did to change the lives of the people who look up to her. She made me realize that songs will really make you enjoy life but the singer also has the ability to bring life to you everytime you’re feeling down. I admire Yeng’s strong spirituality and her love for our Creator, maybe that’s the reason why she’s able to connect with a lot of people too.

I can’t imagine my life without her now. It is above normal that you could go on a week of tiring activities just because you found comfort and inspiration from a song wonderfully performed by her. You will always feel proud because you idolize her. There are just so many good things to say about our country’s POP ROCK PRINCESS but the truth is, with or without that title I’d still love her for what she is.  I am lucky enough to saw how she started on TV, but now I’m luckier because I have her as an inspiration and she continues to inspire us (the YOUTH) to be better and push ourselves to reach for our dreams.

YENG CONSTANTINO is a star. Not just because she wear fabulous clothes, travels abroad, signs her own autograph, attends press conferences, records wonderful songs, poses for the camera and puts up a show but because her hardwork and passion for her profession proves her LOVE for her supporters from the bottom of her heart.

She knows HOW TO LOVE. Thanks to her, we have also learned how to.

Sa pagkakatanda ko, never pa nagbigay ng regalo si mama tuwing birthday ko. Kaya nagulat na lang ako nung sinabi nya na pumili ako ng magandang camera, at yun na daw ang regalo nya saken. :) Para saken, eto na ang pinakamahal na gift na binigay nya (kahit di naman talaga as in "mahal" para sa inyo ang price). I love my mom so much..
