I met Magi towards the end of my first visit to Eigg. Magi doesn't live there, but felt he had to make a pilgrimage to the isle and visit the Massacre cave, to pay respects to the ancestors that died there. He slept in the cave for one night, and then I'm not sure where he slept.
I was fortunate enough to come across Magi sitting in Ailidh's kitchen and we spoke for a while. He's a mystic and he travels across Scotland spreading the magic of love. He told me that the magic in tears of happiness is the most potent.  He sang for me sporadically through out our conversation, he smelt of patchouli oil and many camp fires. I really liked the guy. Wish I knew where he was now, last I heard he was travelling east to compose music with some friends.
This photo forms part of my series As I Found her, a Portrait of Eigg.

Having joined  U2 on their 2016 'Innocence + Experience' tour I was asked back this month to shoot the opening dates of their impressive Joshua Tree 30th anniversary tour in North America. Many more images to follow, but for now here’s 3 from Vancouver.

I once took a bunch of models out to find a desert hot spring, it turned out to be impossible to locate.  We ended up by a small lake somewhere up near Lake Arrowhead.  I was initially on a downer about this shoot, the disappointment of not finding that hot spring colouring my view of the day.  I recently took a second look at what I shot, and the more I did the more I loved these simple, beautiful portraits.
Still not found that hot spring!

Holly is a mate of mine, and the starting point of a new ongoing project; a chain of friendship that will lead me on to wonderful and interesting people that I'm yet to meet.

One of those joyful days where the artist and the photographer have a unified vision. The Japanese House single is out and is pure magic.

If you've had a pint with me in the past 6 months, chances are I've bent your ear with a tale of epic proportions regarding my adventures on Eigg. For those that I have not had the pleasure of sharing an Ale, let me give you a brief explanation.
I'm working on a long term project based on the inner hebridean Isle of Eigg. An island who's people took ownership of 19 years ago, and who have total energy independence too. The project is more specifically about the people of Eigg. The small isle captured my imagination, as did the community that exists there. Is it no small statement to say, both also captured my heart.
The project exhibition will premier on Eigg next June to coincide with the 20th anniversary celebrations, before then I have a number of visits back to the isle to complete it.
I wasn't planning on showing any work at all from the project until that exhibition, however my lovely agent Matt @probation_london is so excited about the portraits that I have shot so far, that he asked if I wouldn't mind showing one as a teaser, and maybe also help explain why I've been reasonably quiet in the social media front!
I let Matt pick the image he wanted to show, and here it is, a portrait of a fascinating man, Wez. Featured here in his home as I found him, the morning before I left the isle after my first two week visit.
The only thing I want to add right now is, that this project is honestly the most valuable body of work I've ever been fortunate to work on and I can not wait to share it with the people of Eigg, and then eventually, the rest of you!
