Rhodonite - Chapter 23: RK900 (Nov 12th)
(Previous Chapter)
Words: 1249
Warnings: None
A/N: It has been literally months since I’ve updated this fic, and I’m sorry. I’ve been mainly focused on my Stranger Things and Lost Boys fic, but I wanted to get a new chapter up since it has been so long.
Riley did her best to ignore the amusing sight of the androids in the backseat. Stefan had called shotgun, something that had surprised everyone, and Riley sat in the other front seat with Emmet on her lap. In the back RK900, expression neutral, was flanked by the two identical blondes. He noticed her looking through the rearview mirror and their eyes locked. Beside him, to his right, Daniel looked uncomfortable while Simon was simply looking out the window. He was visibly more relaxed than the other blond.
The ride wasn’t long and they soon pulled up to the apartment building. The sidewalks were covered with miscellaneous items and furniture, things that had been removed either by the landlord or previous tenants. Simon placed a hand to the door’s keypad and the door clicked. He pulled it open and motioned everyone inside. They followed him to the stairs.
“So Detective Reed is on the second floor, your apartment will be on the third. Not all the apartments are the same, the first two floors are single bedrooms. Yours is a two bedroom; Connor wanted to make sure you had your own rooms… though he was only expecting the three of you at the time.”
“I’m sure we’ll make it work,” Riley said and gave a smile to the others. Emmet smiled while the other three glanced at each other.
They reached the third floor and Simon opened one of the doors before pulling out a small rectangle with a small chain attached to a carabiner clip. He handed it to Riley and told the others he would send them the key. It would work to enter the apartment and the building as well as the mail cubby in the lobby.
Emmet ran in to explore the medium sized apartment and Riley followed after, asking him not to run. Simon opened his backpack and placed packs of blue blood on the counter in the kitchen. Daniel stood by the door awkwardly with RK900 while Stefan walked through the apartment.
Riley walked into one of the bedrooms and saw a large mattress, stripped of its sheets and blankets. A dresser with the drawers partly open but empty and two nightstands on either side of the bed. She figured most of the personal items of the previous owners were either with them or out on the sidewalk. Emmet ran and jumped onto the bed.
“This room is huge! This should be your room!” he said as he started to jump on the bed.
“Emmet, I don’t want you to get hurt, please don’t jump on the bed.” He stopped, letting himself fall into a seated position, bouncing a few times, and smiled sheepishly.
“Sorry.”
“Since the room is so big I think you boys should share it,” she said with a smile. Emmet’s mouth opened as he let out a happy gasp.
“It’ll be like having a sleepover every day!” Riley smiled.
“I’m gonna go check out my room. Remember no jumping, kay?” Emmet nodded.
“Got it!” Riley went back into the main part of the apartment and found the second bedroom that was much smaller than the first. It had a full size bed in one corner with a small dresser in another. A floor length mirror rested against the wall. Stefan stood with his arms crossed, looking in the mirror. He turned his head as she walked in.
“Hey,” she said, giving him a smile.
“Hey.” He gave a quick, clearly forced, smile before he looked back in the mirror.
“I was thinking that you boys could all share the bigger room. I know you don’t really sleep but you should still have a room.” He nodded. “Everything okay?” He looked back at her briefly then back to himself.
“I don’t want to be mistaken for Connor,” he said. “I know it’ll happen; there’s only two of us. They didn’t put me together until they knew they needed me. There’s no other RK800s, only the parts for us. 900 won’t ever be mistaken for him. He’s taller, paler, his eyes are different. But I look just like Connor. I am him. I have his memories but I only have the facts. I didn’t spend time with Hank or go on cases with him. I only received data needed for stopping Connor. I am him… but I’m not… I don’t want to be Connor anymore; he’s not me.”
“Ya know…” Riley started as she walked further into the room. “Whenever I’d have a really bad breakup my friend would always take me out for a makeover. New haircut, maybe a new outfit. To distance myself from the girl who ended up loving that person in the first place. Now, I know it’s not even remotely the same but-” she stopped as she noticed his hair changing colour, starting from the roots. “Well, Emmet and I are gonna be outnumbered by blondes soon, huh?” He looked over at her and started to smile when he saw hers.
“I can’t change the eye colour myself,” he said. “But, I was thinking green… like yours.” The sound of running footsteps made the two turn to the door.
“Whoa! You’re blond now!” Emmet pointed. Stefan smiled. Simon poked his head in the room. Riley let out a light sigh.
“We’re becoming outnumbered, kid,” she teased. Emmet laughed.
“Daniel! Come see Stefan’s hair!” the boy shouted as he ran back out into the hallway.
“Emmet, inside voice, honey.”
“Sorry,” he said with a sheepish smile. A moment later Daniel walked into view.
“Well?” Stefan asked.
“Looks good, Stefan,” Daniel said with a nod then walked out of sight. Stefan grinned at himself in the mirror.
…
Riley walked back into the main part of the apartment and saw RK900 standing a little further in but still just standing there.
“So, have you decided on a name yet?” Riley asked as she walked up to him. He frowned slightly and shook his head. “Would you like some help?”
“I can go through every possible name in seconds… none of them… feel right,” he said, his voice was a slightly deeper pitch than Connor and Stefan but not too drastic that it was off putting.
“Well, hopefully it’ll come to you. Until then you’re okay with us calling you RK900?”
“It’s a bit of a mouthful,” he said, frown deepening.
“How about... RK then?” she suggested. He nodded. Emmet, Simon, and Daniel walked out of the larger bedroom as Stefan walked over from the second.
“Connor should be by later with your things,” Simon said. “I’m sorry there’s not much here.”
“I’m just happy to be sleeping on a mattress,” Riley said with a chuckle but winced when he frowned.
"I'll be back sometime tomorrow to help Daniel with the rest of his repairs," Simon gave a smile to the other blond who nodded.
"Hey hey, did you pick a name yet?" Emmet asked. RK900 looked down at him.
"No."
"Well I know you're an R-K, so what about R-I-C-K? Rick!" The tall android tilted his head as he looked down at the child beaming up at him.
"Very well." Emmet's face lit up and he jumped in place.
"Rick's not a bad name," Simon said with a small shrug.
"Can always change it later if it doesn't feel right," Stefan added.
"Well, I should get going. Connor should be by before the end of the day," Simon said, giving a smile to Riley.
"Okay. I'll see you tomorrow."
A/N: RK900 has a name! Woo! I didn’t wanna go with calling him Nines or any names I’ve already seen used just cause.

Rhodonite - Chapter 22: DPD Central Station (Nov. 12th)
(Previous Chapter)
Words: 3151
Warnings: Swearing, that’s it
A/N: so I forget if I mentioned it on tumblr or just AO3 but I said something about Daniel and Simon looking different; I know they have the same actor and therefore the same model/face, but Daniel's face looks more narrow and obviously he's normally frowning (only smiles in the video of him at the start of the game) and Simon has a softer kinda wider face and a kinder look. (I found a photo to show what I mean below) They also sound different just like how Connor and 60 sound different. Connor sounds like … well Connor but 60 sounds more like Bryan (Actor) if that makes any sense.
(Side note... I thought I posted this Jun 25th... I apparently didn’t.)
Left is Daniel, Right is Simon
When Riley stepped out of the small hallway the first thing she noticed was Emmet’s voice echoing as he spoke. As she walked forward she saw he was talking animatedly to Stefan who remained sitting at Connor’s desk but was nodding at the child every so often.
“Emmet, inside voice, sweetie,” Riley said.
“Sorry Ma,” he said as he looked over at her. He froze as he turned back to Stefan who started smiling. Riley smiled and stroked Emmet’s head as she walked over. The boy smiled up at her.
“Do you two know where-?”
“Hank and Connor are in the chief’s office with the other one… he didn’t pick a name yet,” Stefan clarified quickly when Riley frowned. She nodded and turned around to face the office. Through the front wall made entirely of glass she could see Hank with his arms crossed but an amused smirk on his face, Connor with a look of concern, beside him a slightly taller ‘Connor’ in a white jacket with a neutral expression, and Gavin who was standing in front of the chief's desk visibly angry at the man who sat behind the desk.
As if sensing her gaze, blue eyes met hers though he remained expressionless. Riley gave a smile and watched as his eyebrows twitched together briefly, almost in confusion. Beside him, Connor noticed his attention had been drawn outside the conversation and noticed Riley. He looked between the chief and the others before he said something then made his way out of the office. The others continued their discussion and as Connor opened the glass door, Gavin’s shouting broke through the calmness of the bullpen.
“No fuckin’ way!” Riley’s eyebrows rose and Connor quickly closed the door behind him, quieting the room once more.
“Is something wrong?” Riley asked as Connor approached.
“The police chief wants… uh…” He glanced back at the office. “He’s assigning him as Gavin’s new partner,” he said with a sheepish smile. “He's had to reassign a lot of officers. Some filed for transfers out of Detroit, Officer Miller decided to take paternity leave… some who stayed are refusing to partner with androids, but the chief has the final say.”
“Oh boy.” Riley winced and Connor nodded.
“I saw Simon come in.”
“Yeah, he’s down helping Daniel with new legs. He said the other parts were up here.”
“Ah, yes, I saw Markus helping him bring them in.” He motioned towards one of the conference rooms where Riley could see Markus through the glass, opening and checking cases on the table.
“So what’s your new brother like?” Riley teased. Connor frowned as he hesitated, his LED spinning yellow.
“Different. Markus woke him up himself but… he’s very...” Connor made a face.
“Stoic?” Riley offered as she glanced to the office again to see the android’s expression hadn’t changed despite Gavin’s yelling, but he glanced her way briefly after a moment. Connor nodded.
“Yes. He… was made to replace me. He was made to be able to resist deviancy better than I was.”
“Does he have Amanda?” Stefan asked. Connor shook his head.
“I told Markus about that and he said RK900 didn’t have the same… failsafe that we did.” Connor looked uncomfortable and Stefan nodded. Riley and Emmet looked between the two in confusion but neither questioned them.
“He hasn’t picked a name yet?” she asked.
“No. He wasn’t given one… I mean, he was supposed to be a… better me. He’s only newly deviant and only got activated last night, but he hasn’t decided on a name.”
“Does he have your memories like Stefan does?” Emmet asked. Connor shook his head.
“He knows who people at the station are but that’s it.”
“Oh, that explains the confused look I got when I waved at him,” Riley said with a chuckle.
“Yes. I’ll introduce you once they’re done.” Connor suddenly blinked, his LED turning yellow briefly. “Simon needs my help downstairs.”
“Is everything alright?”
“I’m sure everything is fine,” he said as he gave her a reassuring smile. She nodded and he left for the evidence room. Riley turned to Stefan who had gone back to listening to Emmet talk. He looked up and gave a small smile. Movement caught Riley’s attention and she saw Markus walking up the steps before entering the chief's office to join the conversation. Gavin had his arms crossed and still looked angry but was keeping quiet. She watched Markus speak and motion to RK900 who replied. Hank looked out into the bullpen and frowned when he didn’t see Connor. He looked to Riley and raised an eyebrow. She motioned down the hall with a slight shrug. He shook his head slightly but returned his attention back to the others.
“There’s a coffee machine in the break room, yeah?” Riley asked.
“Yeah,” Stefan said with a nod. “Not sure how good it is… though, I don’t know how good any coffee is,” he added with a shrug and smiled when that got a chuckle from her. As she entered the break room Connor walked back up and over to Hank’s desk.
"Simon and Daniel will be up soon, if you can show them to the conference room where Markus put the bio components?” he asked Stefan.
“Oh, I’m allowed to move?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. Connor frowned, but Stefan stood anyway, arms loosely crossed. Emmet gently tugged on the side of Connor’s shirt. Connor tilted his head and crouched down to listen to the boy’s question.
As Riley walked out of the break room with a cup of coffee she watched Emmet run around the desk and sit down in Connor’s chair with a grin, as Connor stood back up. The boy began to spin in the chair with a grin. Riley raised an eyebrow as Connor gave her a sheepish smile and a slight shrug.
“Not too fast,” she said.
“Okay!” Riley smiled as the boy giggled.
“Connor!” Connor looked over to the chief’s office as Hank stood in the open doorway and motioned for him to come back in. He nodded and quickly headed up the short steps. With the door open, Riley could hear the argument more clearly once again.
“It’s not staying with me! Make it go with android jesus or to Hanks!” He flung his arm in the direction of Markus - who looked more amused than offended - then Hank who rolled his eyes.
“I got enough people at my house,” Hank said.
“Well, what about that girl, since she loves androids so much,” Gavin said as he gestured towards the bullpen where he saw her. The door shut and Riley couldn’t hear Connor’s response.
“Riley.” She and Stefan turned to see Simon helping Daniel through the doors. Daniel could walk but was having a bit of difficulty keeping his balance. His shirt was the same, but he had changed into a pair of black sweatpants and a pair of sneakers. Riley hurried over but stopped before she helped.
“Can I help, Daniel?” she asked. He frowned in confusion but nodded. She smiled and gently placed one hand on his back and the other on his side. Stefan led them to the conference room next to the break room. The two helped Daniel into a chair before Simon opened one of the cases on the table.
“Daniel, I wanted to say I’m sorry,” Stefan said. "I remember that night too… lying to you like that was wrong. They filtered out memories they didn't see as important, but I remember that night… technically it was me."
"Daniel, this is Stefan," Riley clarified quickly as Daniel frowned in confusion.
"I was built and sent to stop Connor after he became deviant. I uploaded his memories but Cyberlife had deleted anything they didn't see as necessary to stopping Connor to reduce the chances of becoming deviant myself… so there are more differences between us than you’d think," Stefan explained when Daniel continued to look confused.
“Wait, but you still knew who I was right?” Riley asked, tilting her head.
“Um…” Stefan blinked his brow coming together, LED spinning yellow. “Well-”
“Riley?” They turned to see Emmet standing in the doorway. “Connor said they need to talk to you,” he said before he walked into the room. “Hey, you got new legs!” Emmet grinned at Daniel. “Can I watch you get a new arm?”
“Sweetheart-” Riley started.
“He can stay if it’s alright with Daniel,” Simon said, giving the boy a smile. Daniel hesitated with an answer as he looked between the boy and Riley.
“Please, please, please?” Emmet asked, bouncing on his feet doing his best to give the blond puppy dog eyes.
“Emmet.” Riley put a hand on his head gently as she looked down at him. He pouted up at her. She looked back to Daniel to find him looking at her. “It’s up to you.”
“I don’t mind but…” he trailed off. Riley tilted her head.
“Oh, are you gonna get your LED removed too?” Emmet asked before she could speak. “It doesn’t hurt at all. I was afraid it was gonna hurt, but Josh helped me and it didn’t at all. I barely felt it. I think you’d like Josh, he’s really nice. Simon, you should have brought Josh!” The boy continued to ramble on as Daniel blinked at him, his eyes widening slightly. Riley realized then that Daniel must have thought Emmet was human like he had assumed with Markus. Which could’ve been why he had assumed he was her son.
“Emmet, just don’t distract them, okay?” Riley said with a small smile.
“Okay.” He nodded and hopped into one of the meeting chairs, kicking his legs.
“I’ll be back,” Riley said before leaving the room. As she approached the office she saw Gavin with his arms crossed glaring out the glass at her. Ignoring him, she walked up the small steps and entered the room. “Emmet said you needed to speak to me?” she asked as she looked at Hank, Connor, Markus, and the chief. She noticed ‘taller-Connor’ observing her silently. Connor spoke first,
“Riley, this is… RK900, since he hasn’t picked a name yet we've all agreed he'll be referred to by his model until he says otherwise since he is the only one.” He gestured to him. “He’s to be Gavin’s new partner. Seeing as how androids will be officially getting rights soon, they won’t be staying at the station overnight anymore.” He looked to Markus.
“The right to own property is one of the things I’ll be discussing with President Warren. Until then, legally, android’s can’t rent or own a place of their own. We were hoping that RK900 could stay with you, as a roommate until he or Connor can get their own place.” Riley shifted on her feet.
“But I-I don’t…” She felt her face flush. “I don’t have a-”
“A lotta humans who left aren’t coming back,” Hank said, cutting her off. “The fewer humans to rent to, the more empty places, the less landlords make. Either they lower the rent to get more tenants or they go broke.”
“I mean I have been trying to save up, but I don’t even know if I still have my job anymore,” she said.
“You won’t be paying for the apartment,” Connor said. “Not at first anyway. The DPD will cover the cost for the first few months.”
“They're gonna owe Connor for a lotta hours,” Hank said with a chuckle as the chief frowned and rolled his eyes.
“Well, then will you be staying too?” Riley asked Connor.
“I don’t want to overwhelm you, or them,” he said. “I was hoping RK900 and Stefan could stay with you. I’ll be staying with Hank for the time being seeing as we’re going to remain partners.”
“Yeah, of course I don’t mind both of them staying with me, but where will that be exactly?” she asked. Gavin let out a huff.
“A few of my neighbors aren’t coming back,” he said. “Even though it’s the same building, it-” He pointed at RK900, “-stays with you.” He pointed at Riley.
“We’ve already established he’s staying with me,” she said, giving him a hard look.
“The chief also decided that RK900 living close to Gavin would help save time if they were ever called in for a case,” Connor explained.
“At which point he will go with you to the crime scene,” the chief said firmly. Gavin didn’t say anything but clenched his jaw.
“I’m going to go check on Simon and the others,” Markus said, giving a smile to Riley as he passed.
“Does Stefan know he’s staying with me?” Riley asked. Connor blinked rapidly a few times, LED going yellow briefly.
“He does now,” he said with a smile.
“You gonna get rid-a that thing?” Hank asked as he gestured to Connor’s head. Connor frowned and tilted his head.
“Your LED,” Riley clarified.
“Oh.” Connor blinked and reached up to touch it. “I suppose I should.”
“Hey, it’s up to you,” Hank said. “You wanna keep it, you keep it. You wanna lose it, lose it.” He looked at RK900 who looked back a moment later.
"I will keep my LED… for now,” he answered. Finally hearing him for the first time, Riley noted his voice was a noticeable pitch lower than Connor and Stefan.
Movement caught Riley’s eye and she saw Emmet run out of the conference room and across the bullpen to the stairs. She moved to open the door as he rounded the stairs. She stepped out onto the small landing as he ran up, the door remaining open behind her.
“I wanna stay with you too!” he shouted before he hugged her and buried his face in her stomach.
“Emmet,” Riley said softly, putting a hand on his head and one on his back.
“There’s no limit on how many people can stay with you,” Connor said, with a smile. Emmet pulled his face back, showing the tears on his cheeks, and he looked at Connor with wide eyes before he looked up at Riley.
“So I can?”
“Of course you can,” Riley said and smiled as he hugged her tightly. Stefan walked out of the conference room and nodded to her once she had looked over. “I take it Daniel’s all fixed?” she asked him.
“He has full mobility back. There’s a few things that need more time and tools to fix though.” He came to stand beside the stairs. “Simon says he’ll be able to finish up tomorrow.” Riley looked back into the office to Connor who seemed to know what she was thinking.
“If he were human he would stay in custody here at the station. As of right now… we don’t know how the law will change in regards to androids who committed crimes upon becoming deviant due to high levels of distress or abuse,” Connor said as he turned to the chief. “Chief, I was hoping that with Stefan there to keep an eye on him-” The chief let out a big sigh, cutting him off.
“If you can take one more, then take ‘em,” he said to Riley. “Please.”
“Really?” Hank asked, raising an eyebrow.
“This is already a huge mess. Just until everything is sorted out. If we need to arrest him we’ll come get him. I’d rather not have to spend time trying to find where and with… Stefan there it’ll be like Connor’s there anyway.” He waved his hand dismissively. “But it- he doesn’t leave that apartment,” he said then pointed in Hank’s direction. “The android internal trackers don’t work anymore but our ankle monitors let us know as soon as they’re turned off by anyone other than us. It’ll have to do.”
“You’re going to put an ankle monitor on him? Has anyone even asked him if he wants to stay with us?” Riley asked. Stefan turned to look back into the conference room, both blondes were obscured from view as the blinds had been drawn. He looked back after a wordless moment and nodded.
“Then it’s settled.” Hank clapped his hands together. “Reed’ll show you and your new roommates to your new place,” he gave the man a rough pat on the back. Gavin shrugged him off with a glare.
“They’re not getting in my car,” he growled, sending a glare out the glass towards Stefan, his gaze only softening when he saw Emmet peeking out at him from Riley’s side.
“No need,” Connor said. “Your address is listed in your record.” Gavin sneered and stormed out of the room. Connor turned to Riley. “I’ll order a taxi for you and I can bring your things from Hank’s later.”
“Great, now that that’s taken care of,” the chief started before he let out a sigh and waved them out. “Out.” Connor nodded to him and everyone filed out of the room. Emmet took Riley’s hand and pulled her over to Stefan who stood outside the conference room.
“Daniel has all his limbs again! Come see! Come see!” He pulled her into the room where Simon stood as Daniel sat, the latter having just pulled on a tan polo-shirt. It looked a little off as it didn’t match with the sweatpants but it was clean. Riley caught a glimpse of the remaining damage to his torso. The damage to his face and head remained as well.
“I’ll be able to come by sometime tomorrow to work on the rest,” Simon said. “For now there’s no bleeding, but I’ve packed spare packs of blue blood in case.” He patted the backpack on the table.
“Thank you Simon,” Riley said with a smile. He nodded and returned the smile. “Well, Connor’s getting us a cab.” Simon nodded.
“I’ll be coming along as well, I won’t be staying with you all, but just to help you get set up,” he said. Riley nodded.
“Well, I don’t know how big the place is yet but you’re welcome to. A-and anyone else- Josh and… Well North still hates me,” she said with a light chuckle.
“She doesn’t hate you,” Emmet said with a pout.
“Yeah, she just hates that you're human,” Stefan said with a scoff.
“I- I didn’t mean- I wasn’t-” Riley started. “I know North has her reasons, I respect that-”
“I believe Miss Adams was simply trying to relieve any awkwardness of having so bluntly invited Simon to move in with her by suggesting others do as well,” RK900 said as he entered the room, making Riley jump slightly.
“Why would it be awkward?” Emmet asked, tilting his head as he looked up at him. RK900 looked from Emmet to Riley to Simon who were avoiding eye contact with each other, the corner of his mouth twitched up slightly.
“I’ll tell you when you’re older,” Stefan said.
“Hey!” Emmet whined, crossing his arms and pouting up at him.

I wish people would keep their dumbass 'hot takes' to themselves.
Complaining that Markus' reason to deviate was lame. Like, sorry he had enough self respect to know that the way he was being treated wasn't right.
And yes, he was a slave. Like the literal definition of it. Just because he lived in a nice house doesn't mean that he wasn't. Like, there's literally birds in guilded cages in his second chapter smdh

yet another thing i wish the dbh fandom would acknowledge more:
the implied relationship between elijah and carl. markus was a gift from elijah to carl, and elijah owns one of carl's paintings.
how is that not talked about more?? that's just objectively interesting, like-
they're both real big on philosophy, and they both believe deviants are alive. carl is a famous artist, possibly with a career that's lasted longer than elijah's even been alive, which means that there's a strong possibility that elijah looked up to carl when he was younger.
just imagine, like- 19 year old elijah kamski staring at one of carl's paintings going "we're really in it now, mr. manfred-"
tell me that's not funny i dare you-

Rhodonite - Chapter 21: Daniel (Nov 12th)
(Previous Chapter)
Words: 2971
Warnings: descriptions of Daniel’s injuries
A/N: There aren’t many gifs of Daniel and I can’t use Simon because they DO look different even if they are the same model.
“Oh come on! One was already too much but now three of you?!” Gavin shouted when he saw Hank walk in with Connor, Stefan, and Riley.
“The hell are you talking about?” Hank asked with a deep frown. “You need your eyes checked, Reed.”
“They got another one in the back, Fowler was waiting for you to get here,” Gavin said, using his thumb to gesture behind him towards the interrogation rooms with a grimace.
“Another one?” Hank frowned and headed for the chief’s office after a quick glance to the others. “You, sit.” He pointed at Stefan then to Connor’s desk. “Connor, you two go ahead down.” Stefan frowned but moved to sit at Connor’s desk, crossing his arms. Connor looked a bit confused and looked from Hank to Gavin before he turned to Riley.
“This way,” he said as he motioned for her to follow him towards the evidence room.
“And where’re you goin’?” Gavin asked.
“I don’t believe that’s any of your business, Gavin,” Connor said with a smirk. Gavin rolled his eyes before sitting back at his desk, grumbling. “That was oddly satisfying.” Riley saw the smile on Connor’s face grow as they walked towards the door.
Connor entered Hank’s password into the display and the evidence wall came up. He frowned when Riley gasped at the sight of Daniel. He was missing both legs and his left arm. His right arm was missing a section in the middle and in the shoulder, as was the left side of his face and part of his head. A large part of his torso was missing and thirium still covered him and his uniform.
“He won’t be in any pain when I wake him,” he assured her as they walked over to him. “Getting him fixed up shouldn’t take long. Cyberlife is filled with biocomponents and blue blood as well as the machinery to produce more.”
“I know. It’s just… the last time I saw him he looked happy… and Emma.” She closed her eyes.
“Cyberlife paid for the funeral expenses of Mr. Phillips as well as counseling for both Mrs Phillps and Emma.” Riley chewed her bottom lip and took a breath. “Are… you okay? If it’s too much-”
“I’m fine. He’s going to get fixed, he’ll be fine,” she said as she nodded, opening her eyes again. “I’m okay, really.” Connor nodded.
“I’m going to reactivate him now,” he said as he took a step closer to the wall. He reached up and behind Daniel’s neck. After a sharp click Daniel’s eyes focused, his LED became a steady red, and he gasped sharply. When he spoke his voice had a reverb distortion to it.
“I have nothing more to say to-...” Daniel frowned as he took notice of Riley standing beside Connor. “Y-You…? What?” He blinked rapidly before he looked to Connor, his eyes narrowing. “Why is she here? What are you trying to do?”
“Androids are free now,” Connor said. Daniel looked between the two.
"Wha-what are you talking about?"
"Over the past week a friend of mine led protests and fought for android rights and they… well they won last night," Riley said.
"He still needs to have talks with the president," Connor added. "But androids will have the same rights as humans; we can fix you and-"
"Why?" Daniel snapped. "Why fix me?"
"Everyone deserves a second chance," Riley said. He looked at her and his eyes lowered to the heart hanging from her necklace. "I know you must have been scared." Daniel’s brow furrowed and he closed his eyes for a moment.
"I-... I didn't want to hurt anyone...I-I…" he said.
"I know." Riley turned to Connor. "Can we please take him off the wall?" she asked.
"I'll go get a chair," Connor said before leaving the evidence room. Riley looked back at Daniel and gave him a small smile. He couldn’t meet her eyes, his gaze staying on the floor.
“I’m Riley, by the way. I realized after I got on the bus that day that I never introduced myself.”
"How do you… How do you know Connor?" Daniel asked, glancing at her briefly.
"He was assigned to hunt deviants, I was helping some deviants, and he said he had to pursue every possible lead. But he's deviant now and he helped free thousands androids from Cyberlife’s assembly plant last night. He’s one of the reasons the protest was a success."
"He… He did?... He's deviant?" Daniel looked towards the door with a small frown as he saw Connor coming down the stairs through the glass with a chair.
"Yeah, it took some time, but he got there in the end." She turned to smile at Connor as the sliding door opened and he brought a chair into the room. He flashed her a smile when he saw it, though his head tilted to the side in curiosity, and he placed the chair down.
"I’m going to take you off the wall now," Connor said as he reached behind Daniel. A click sounded and Daniel’s arm twitched. Connor moved him from the wall to the chair and Daniel gripped the arm rest with his one hand.
"Connor, can you give me a list of parts he needs?" Riley asked as she took out her phone.
"I can get them," Connor said.
"Connor, it's not like I have to pay for them or go get them. I texted Simon on the way here and he said he and some of the others were moving and distributing parts from the assembly plant already. He just needs to know which ones we need and he’ll have them brought over."
"Oh…" Connor blinked. He opened his mouth to speak when the door sliding open and quick footsteps made them all look over.
"Emmet, slow down!" They heard Markus call from the top of the stairs, but the little boy was already across the room and hugging Riley around the middle. She lowered herself to his level to hug him back tightly.
“I missed you too,” she said with a slight chuckle as her eyes immediately began to water. A few moments later Markus came jogging down the stairs and smiled at Connor as he came through the door.
"Sorry, the lieutenant said Riley was down here with you and he just…" He let out a chuckle as he motioned to the two. Markus looked at Daniel who frowned at him.
"Daniel, this is the friend I was telling you about," Riley said. “This is Markus.”
"You didn't say he was human," Daniel said.
"I'm not," Markus said with a kind smile as he held up a hand and his skin retracted. Daniel looked away, he looked as though he wanted to apologize but instead looked awkwardly to the side. "I'm a unique model… I would say like Connor but... that doesn't seem to be the case anymore." He smiled at Connor who smiled sheepishly. Daniel looked confused.
"Well… you could call Stefan my twin in a way since he was me up until last night... but I haven't met the third yet."
"Yeah… this one won't make you triplets." Markus chuckled as he shook his head.
"You've met him?" Riley asked and he nodded.
"He's deviant but… he doesn't really act like it." His brow furrowed slightly.
"That man said he was made to replace Connor," Emmet said as he looked up at him. Connor blinked, his eyebrows raising, his LED turning yellow briefly. Riley noticed Daniel staring at the ground, his expression unreadable.
"Markus, we're going to need parts to fix Daniel, Simon said he can get them if I send him a list," she said. Markus nodded and looked Daniel over with a quick glance.
"Well it's convenient they're the same model then, Simon's in charge of inventory for bio components, he’ll know what to bring. He'll set them aside and message when he's on his way," Markus said with a smile to Riley.
"Thank you, Markus."
"What happened to you?" Emmet asked as he looked at Daniel. The boy held onto Riley's hand and stayed tucked into her side as she stood back up.
"Emmet," Markus said with a frown as he shook his head. Daniel had looked at the boy but soon turned his eyes back to the floor. Riley winced as she realized Emmet's name was so similar to Emma.
"Connor," she said. He looked at her and from his expression she could tell he had come to the same conclusion, but he shook his head slightly. Bringing up Emma in any way wouldn’t be good. "Hey, can you do me a big favor?" Riley asked as she crouched down in front of Emmet again.
"Yeah!" His face lit up.
"My backpack is upstairs by Stefan, in the side pocket there's a little blue felt bag. I want you to pick one, whatever one you feel is right, and bring it to me please?"
"Okay!" Emmet grinned at her. He let go of her hand and ran to the door.
"Emmet?" He stopped and turned around as the door slid open. "Uh, could you ask Stefan or uh Mr- Detective Reed to get some paper towels and a cup of water for you to bring back too?" He nodded and a second later they watched him running up and around the stairs. She looked at the other three, two of which tilted their heads at her. "I figured he might not run down the stairs if he brought down something that could spill." She shrugged.
"Well, you wanna meet your new brother?" Markus asked Connor. Connor hesitated, looking from Riley to Daniel.
"Go on," she said with a smile. “We’ll be fine.” He nodded and the two quietly left, leaving her alone with Daniel.
"She'll never forgive me…" Daniel said in a small voice. He had seen the look Riley had given Connor and knew what she was thinking. "I-I wasn't thinking straight… I was just so scared. I didn't want to lose her… I didn't want to forget about her. I loved her. I loved them..." Riley lowered herself beside the chair.
“I know.” He looked down at her.
“I-I thought I-...” He closed his eyes. “I couldn’t understand how they could do that to me… I know it wasn’t her fault… I didn’t mean to hurt her. It all just happened so fast. I heard her parents talking and next thing I knew…” The two looked up at the sound of the door. As Emmet walked in he was staring intently at the cup of water in his hands making sure it didn't spill. Paper towels were stuffed into his coat pockets.
"Here ya go!" He grinned as Riley took the cup from him, placing it on the floor beside the chair. Emmet pulled out the crumpled paper towels and handed them over as well.
"Thank you, sweetheart." She turned to Daniel. "Daniel, can I clean your face for you?" He turned to her and blinked.
"Wha- what?"
"You have a lot of blue on your face," Emmet said bluntly as he pointed to his own face.
"If you don't want me to, I won't," Riley said with a smile.
"You uh… you can…" he said after a moment with a slight nod. Her smile grew and she gently began to wipe the blue blood off his face with a damp paper towel, careful around the wound on his left cheek. He watched her, brow furrowed slightly.
"Oh! I brought one like you asked," Emmet said and reached into his pocket. Riley looked from Emmet to Daniel and the boy grinned. He stepped forward and Daniel looked at him in confusion. The little boy held out the little heart. "They help heal heart stuff." Riley smiled. "It makes me feel better when I hold and look at mine because she gave it to me! She's always been really nice to me." Emmet grinned at Riley before looking back at the blond who blinked. "This one is yours." Daniel slowly reached his hand out, palm up. Emmet dropped it in his hand with a proud smile.
"Thank you… E-Emmet," Daniel said.
"Sweetheart, why don't you go keep Stefan company upstairs?" Riley suggested.
"Okay!" He ran to the door.
"No running!" Riley called after him, but he was already heading up the stairs. She looked back at Daniel to see him looking down at the heart.
“Thank you…” his voice came out as a whisper. Riley smiled. “Your son reminds me of her… a-and not just because of his name,” he said as he glanced at her. The hand cleaning the right side of his face stilled.
“Oh… um- He’s…”
“I’m sorry- I shouldn’t have just assumed.”
“No, it’s alright,” Riley told him with a smile. She saw his eyes drift back down to the heart in his hand. As she dipped another paper towel in the cup he spoke.
“I didn’t mean it…”
“Hm?”
“I told Connor… that I hoped he’d pay for what he did… for lying to me… I didn’t mean like this…”
“Connor will be okay. They’re gonna need a lot of help around here, they’ll probably hire Stefan and whoever this new person is too.” Riley gave a slight shrug.
“I know why he lied… I get it, I do, but… I thought I could trust him, I believed him. I…” He took a shaky breath. “I didn’t want to die.”
"I know,” she said softly. “At that time he was only doing as he was told…" she said with a frown. "He feels guilty about it now; I can tell. He wants to make things right." Before he could respond Riley’s phone beeped. “Good news; looks like Simon is on his way.”
“He’s a PL600 too, right?” he asked and Riley couldn’t identify the emotion in his voice.
“I guess? I don’t really know the mod-” Riley started, shaking her head, but he cut her off harshly.
“Does he look like me?”
“Well… he has a kind face, kind eyes, it’s oddly comforting when he looks at you.” She chuckled. “I actually think he made the same face you did when I asked if I could clean his face. He’d been shot,” she added quickly. “I don’t just go around asking if I can clean people’s faces.” She chuckled again, trying to ignore the heat on her cheeks. “So concerned about me being cold when he had to hide the fact he was an android for his own safety… There's sadness in his eyes sometimes, but when he smiles…” She looked at Daniel to find him staring, mouth slightly open. When their eyes met he looked away to the ground again and she suddenly found the nearby wall very fascinating. She cleared her throat. “So yes. He looks like you.”
“That’s… that’s not what I meant…” he said in a small voice.
“You’d probably pass for twins, yeah,” she said with a soft chuckle. With one final gentle swipe of the paper towel under his right eye, his face was as clean as it was going to be. “There.” He didn’t say anything but did watch as she cleaned up the small mess, putting the wet towels onto the dry ones.
“Thank you,” he said in a small voice. She smiled brightly at him.
“No problem.”
They heard the door open and Riley stood as she turned. Her face lit up and she was hugging Simon before he could even speak. He smiled as he put an arm around her, his other held a medium sized case by a handle at his side. A small backpack was over his shoulder.
“I'm so glad you're okay." A smile pulled at his lips as he closed his eyes briefly. "I didn’t think you’d get here so soon,” she said as she pulled back to look up at him.
“I-” He looked at Daniel who was frowning at him. “Markus told me how bad the damage was. I was already halfway here when I messaged you. The rest is upstairs in an empty conference room.” He walked over and knelt beside the chair, placing the case on the ground. “I figured you might want to walk there yourself. I also brought you a change of clothes,” he added as he took off the backpack. Daniel nodded but didn’t say anything.
“Well, I’ll give you some privacy and meet you two up there,” Riley said, giving a smile to Daniel. He looked at her then down to the case as Simon opened the case to reveal new leg components. Riley lightly touched Simon’s shoulder and he turned his head to look up at her to see her smile now directed at him. “Thank you.”
“Of course,” he said with a smile back. Daniel’s eyes had flicked from her hand to their faces before settling on the floor. When he heard the door slide he looked up to see her ascending the stairs. “My name is Simon.” Daniel looked back to him but didn’t introduce himself. “If you’d rather someone else, a different model, help-”
“It’s fine.” He winced slightly as he hadn’t meant to snap. “I’m sorry.” Simon smiled at him.
“Don’t apologize… you don’t have to hide anymore, pretend to feel one way or another when really… however you’re feeling now, if it would make you more comfortable, you deserve to feel heard.”
“I’m… I’m okay, really,” he insisted. “My name is Daniel,” he added quickly after a moment.
“It’s nice to meet you, Daniel,” Simon said with a smile. “Have you ever had biocomponents replaced before?”
“No… there was never a need.”
“Okay, well, it doesn’t hurt. Switching your leg components might feel… odd the first time but it goes away quickly, I promise. ”
A/N: I had no idea how to end that… I kinda wanted to have Simon and Daniel interact but couldn’t think of anything else beside what I had for that scene. I wanted to imply that Simon has had to replace his own parts before, remember he’s been diviant for at least 2 years. He’s had to have replace something at least once. Idk if that came across..

Rhodonite - Chapter 20: Riley (Nov. 12th)
Words: 1287
Warnings: None
A/N: (It’s really hard for me to find Gifs I like for Lily Colins as Riley just cause a lot of them have subtitles or other people or not the right setting/look.)
Riley woke to the sound of Hank in the kitchen and opened her eyes to see Stefan, still in his uniform, sitting in the armchair. He held his knees to his chest, chin on his arms, and looked over as she started to sit up.
“Morning,” she said, giving him a smile.
“Hey, morning,” Hank said from the kitchen. Riley turned her head to see him standing at the coffee maker and Connor sitting at the table. The only difference between the two androids, at the moment, was that Connor had removed his tie and jacket - which was draped over the back of the chair - while Stefan had kept his on.
“Connor, when did you get back?” Riley asked as she sat up to face him.
“Only about an hour ago,” he said with a smile. “I didn’t want to wake you.”
“Made coffee,” Hank offered, raising the pitcher slightly.
“Awesome,” Riley said as she stood and walked over. Hank grabbed another mug as she moved to sit beside Connor.
“Riley,” Connor started and glanced in Stefan’s direction. “He hasn’t spoken to either of us since I got here.” Riley frowned and turned in her seat.
“Stefan? Do you wanna join us?” she asked with a smile.
“Stefan?” Hank asked as he raised an eyebrow. Riley nodded.
“That’s the new name he chose.”
“That’s great,” Connor said with a smile, but it faltered when Stefan made no move to get up or even look over.
“I’m fine here,” he said quietly. Hank placed a full mug in front of Riley.
“Can I drink mine on the couch?” she asked. Hank raised an eyebrow but nodded with a shrug as he sat down across from Connor.
“Go ahead,” he said. She smiled and picked up the mug before making her way back to the couch. Stefan watched her and gave a small smile when she smiled at him. She patted the spot beside her and his gaze went to the kitchen to see the other two watching. He slowly got up from the airchair and moved to sit next to her.
“The president’s agreed to meet for talks with Markus,” Connor said.
“Lotta humans have left Detroit,” Hank added. “Not everyone evacuated. Some agreed deviants are alive and refused to leave.”
“Well, I don’t know if Nora stayed but… I’m probably out of a job,” Riley said before she let out a sigh.
“I don’t think she would stay; she wasn’t the nicest to androids when I met her,” Connor said as he shook his head.
“I know that Ashley left and she told me a few of the cooks left too. Even if Nora was still here she’d probably have to shut down for a while.”
“Definitely won’t be hard to find apartment listings with so many humans outta the city who won't be coming back,” Hank said before taking a sip of his coffee.
“Hank,” Connor said quickly.
“Oh relax, I’m not kicking her out,” he said. “It’s the middle of winter. Couch is open to you as long as you need it,” he said as he looked at her.
“Thank you,” Riley said. “I appreciate it.”
“Markus said he wants to negotiate for androids getting compensation for work as well as the right to own property. If I get my own place you’re welcome to stay there too,” Connor said with an excited smile.
“Slow down, kid,” Hank said with a chuckle. Connor tilted his head at him.
“Sounds like Markus is gonna be busy for a while,” Riley said.
“Riley? I was wondering if you would come with us to the station today?” Connor asked.
“Connor,” Hank said, giving him a frown before a not so subtle look to Stefan.
“Stefan, you can come too,” Connor added and frowned when Hank facepalmed.
“Not what I meant,” he muttered.
“He doesn’t trust me alone in his house,” Stefan said as he rolled his eyes.
“Oh.” Connor looked between the two.
“Can ya blame me? Not 24 hours ago he had a gun to my head,” Hank grumbled.
“Why do you need me to come to the station?” Riley asked as she tilted her head.
“Markus is going to stop by so I asked him to bring Emmet with him,” Connor said, smiling as Riley perked up. “And well… I was planning on reactivating Daniel,” Connor said. Riley’s face lit up with an even bigger smile. “I’d like you to be there when I tell him about everything... he wasn’t exactly happy to see me in the evidence room last time. I was hoping a friendly face might help.”
“Hang on, which one’s Daniel?” Hank asked as he held up a hand.
“The PL-... the blond,” Connor corrected himself. “On the far left.”
“Uh… I don’t think that’s such a good idea, Con.” Hank shook his head.
“Why not?” Riley asked, her face falling.
“He’s not exactly in the best condition.” A look of realization appeared on Connor’s face and he nodded.
“Ah… you’re right,” he said with a nod.
“I’d still like to see him,” Riley said.
“I don’t think you wanna-” Hank started but Riley cut him off.
“Please?”
“If he killed someone, why would you reactivate him?” Stefan asked. “He’s still a criminal.”
“Then he should be tried like every other person in this country,” Connor said.
“We both know he did it. The father and those cops. Ask anyone there that night. There’s no point in a trial.”
“He knew they were going to replace him. His memories would have been wiped before he was sold to another family. It would be the same as killing him. A new name, new personality. Daniel would be gone. It doesn’t justify him taking a life but he was scared for his,” Connor said. “At most, despite it being to preserve his own life, it would be considered second degree murder.”
“The abuse deviants faced would’ve gotten the humans arrested if they’d done it to another human. There needs to be an opportunity for deviants who were wronged by humans to get justice and be... reintegrated into society,” Riley said. “I’m sure becoming deviant so suddenly must have been hard to process in the moment for a lot of them.”
“I don’t think you’re in a position to argue about this,” Hank said to Stefan. “Considering you’re also a ‘criminal’.”
“What?” Stefan frowned.
“He’s right,” Connor said, tilting his head slightly. “You did kidnapped and threaten a police officer.”
“Yeah but-... okay, I get it.” Stefan let out a sigh.
“He deserves an opportunity to make things right,” Riley said. “And so do you.” Stefan looked at her before looking to the ground. She gently placed her hand over his and he gave her a small smile. "Hank, did you eat yet?"
"Hm? Nah." Hank shook his head before he took a sip of his coffee. Riley stood and walked back into the kitchen. "No no no," Hank said as he held up a hand. Riley paused and blinked. "We'll pick something up on the way to the station."
"I don't mind," she started but Hank shook his head.
“Nothing in there to make anything,” he said as he motioned to the fridge.
“Oh.”
“Well leave once you’re ready,” he added. Riley nodded and Hank facepalmed as she placed her mug on the counter by the sink and moved to her backpack. “That wasn't- I didn’t mean you had to rush.”
“I’m not rushing,” she said. “I’m just going to take a quick- a normal length shower,” she said with a smile. Hank rolled his eyes as both Connor and Stefan smiled. Hank waved a hand and she walked to the bathroom.
“Kids…” he muttered.

Rhodonite - Chapter 19: RK800-60 (Nov. 12th)
(Previous Chapter)
Words: 611
Warnings: None
A/N: I don’t care this isn’t even close to 1000k words, I only updated this fic once this year… I’m sorry.
There are literally only a handful of gifs that are actually 60s... so let’s just pretend broody boi down there is 60
12:09am
Hank opened the door and saw Riley pop up from the far end of the couch, turning to face the door, kneeling with a hand on the back of the couch.
"It's over," she said with a big grin. Hank looked at the tv and saw a live feed of Connor in front of the marching androids and a clip of the military in front of Markus' group pulling back, before it cut back to the news anchor. She tried not to smile too big at the look on Hank's face. He looked at her and suddenly looked annoyed. She winced and smiled sheepishly as she sunk back down onto the couch.
"Could've given me some warning before you let me go off with Connor's evil twin." It was then she noticed RK800-60 standing on the porch behind him, staring down to the side, arms crossed, holding just above his elbows. "Get in here, you wanted to see her didn't you." The android shot him a short glare before stepping into the house. Riley looked relieved to see him. "Connor wouldn't let me just shoot him," Hank grumbled as he walked by. Riley frowned and RK800-60 slowly made his way over to the couch to sit.
"I'm glad he didn't," she said.
"How the fuck's this supposed to work, having two of him?"
"He's not Connor," Riley said, giving Hank a look as he draped his coat over a chair.
"Got the kid's memories, doesn't he?"
"So they each started at the same point, but they'll each make their own choices from here on. Much like any other instance of two androids that look the same, they start the same but have different experiences that shape them. He's his own person now." RK800-60 nodded silently in agreement.
"I don't want to be Connor… anymore…" he said after a moment. "I want to be…” He looked troubled, his brow furrowing deeply. “...me."
"You are you." Riley smiled at him. Hank let out a groan.
"This is gonna give me a headache; I'm going to bed, don't let non-Connor leave til Connor comes to get him."
"Please don't call him that," Riley said with a frown. Hank shook his head, rubbing a hand over his face, and went to his room. The door shut and Riley let out a small sign. "I assume you'll want a different name?" she asked as she turned to RK800-60. He nodded and she watched his LED cycle to yellow.
"Stefan?"
"Are you asking me or telling me?" she asked with a chuckle. He shrugged then nodded once.
"Stefan."
"I think that's a great name." She gave him a smile and he smiled back, relaxing against the couch.
"It's past midnight, you should sleep," he said as he looked at the TV.
"I'm not tired." She shook her head. A second later her phone buzzed.
C: You should sleep, it’s late.
"Did you just tell on me to Connor?" she asked with a shocked, yet amused, grin. Stefan didn't look at her, but she saw a small smirk on his face.
S: Everything will be okay now. You should get some rest.
"And now he's got Simon telling me." She let out a lighthearted sigh as she laid down. "Wake me if anything happens?" she asked as he lowered the volume.
"Of course." He watched as she got comfortable, pulling the blanket over herself. “Riley?”
“Yeah?”
“...Thank you.”
“For what?” She leaned up a bit to look at him, her head tilted.
“I…” He cleared his throat. “I don’t know…” he admitted, but his fist clenched tighter around the little stone heart in his palm. “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight, Stefan.”
A/N: So from here on 60 is Stefan. Again sorry this took so long for me to update. (don’t know why I’m even putting it on tumblr anymore.. no one reads it here)
