My Theory on Drake’s Role at Court

I’ve been thinking about Drake and his role in things and I’ve starting to think that there’s a lot more to him and his role in Liam’s life than we’re being told. I think Drake is more than Liam’s best friend, I think he’s part of his security detail. Information that I think is only known by a few people.

What we know for sure: where Liam goes, Drake goes too. Including New York, where there doesn’t seem to be any other security detail. That Drake’s father was captain of the King’s Guard, making him very familiar with them and that Bastian and Drake are close. We also know that Liam asked Drake to watch out for MC as soon as she arrived in Cordonia and that included assigning him the room next to hers.

Trigger warning: Discussions involve talking about symptoms of PTSD, and mentions of gun violence.

In Drake’s diamond scene at the Italian restaurant, he talks about the growing distance between him and Liam as young adults, his brief period of time in college, and Leo’s plea to him to return to the palace for Liam. Much has been said about Drake’s protectiveness towards Liam, his sacrifice in giving up college and returning to a world he hates for an old friend who desperately needs him but won’t admit it. I agree with much of this, and I don’t think there’s a lot I can add further to this line of conversation. I do want to talk about something I haven’t seen addressed yet here: Liam’s trauma and how he deals with its aftermath.

The assassination attempt on the royal family takes place when Liam and Drake are at least a year or two into adulthood, possibly soon after Drake has joined college. By this time, Liam and Drake have already grown distant and moved their separate ways.

We are not given a timeline for these events, nor are we told in detail what had happened, but I think it would be safe to assume it involved gun violence. Given Liam’s reactions (which I will elaborate on later), it is possible that he could have been physically closest to the assassin, or could hear/witness what was happening with his own eyes. Remember, he is cited as being the one most severely affected by this incident.

Topic: Facing Your Fears Note: Marco Nevrakis and Rose Blake sees each other but they didn’t have a conversation in the Book 1 of The Crown and The Flame Series. Summary: Five months later Prince Marco go back at his home to Lykos after he loss at the Final Battle againsts Queen Kenna. When suddenly during travel he saw a familiar face. It was Rose Blake the servant of Stormholt. What happens when they finally meet together? Marco’s POV The weather looks fine today. It seems the Five Kingdoms is at peace right now. As I loss the battle between over with Kenna I decided to go back at Lykos and do my duty their. But as I travel at through the cool breeze I saw a familiar face in the middle of Grassland. I went closer to her to confirm my guess. She is Rose Blake. The loyal servant of Stormholt and of Dominic’s allies. But what is she does did here? She looks like a kid loss out of nowhere. So I even went closer to her. To ask some questions. I go down first on my stallion and walk few steps enough to get talk to her. “Rose Blake.” I said. I think she did not hear my voice or maybe she didn’t know that I am existed. I walk too closer infront of her. I repeat calling her name. And to that her face lift up a bit. She felt shock for a second and puzzled over about the time. She looks at me like I am some kind of a Dragon here ready to eat her. I sighed. “Pri..iince Marco??” looks confused. “I am. Servant. By the way, what are you do here? In the middle of Grassland? I thought your dead because you disappear together with your brother” I stated to her. “Yeah, that’s true.” she answers. “And why are you here in this dead place?” “Prince Marco it’s a very long story. If I can tell you all the details, you might just get bored.” She told me. “Well. A little bit but I can handle that Servant.” I reply. When she hears the word ‘servant’ her face saddened for a while and after that she composed herself again. “I saw that Rose.” “What?” she confused. “Your face turns sad when you hear the word 'servant’.” I implied to. “Actually, kinda because as you can see we are no longer at Stormholt so basically we are not servants anymore. We are just normal people.” she stated. “But servants are just normal people. In the eyes of nobles. For the record.” I told. She rolls her eyes. “Whatever you say. Loser.” “I am not a Loser.” I corrected her. “You are. You know why because you failed to behead Kenna, you failed to execute the monk, you’ve lost many Nevrakis Soldiers on your side…” Therefore I stopped her. “Rose, stop it.” but she continues. “And your plan didn’t work because Kenna is better than you. I have a question. What made you think about that time? You just bored ruling Stormholt or you just want to impress your father?” The last word hit me. To all my senses. I sighed. “Maybe your correct I just want to impress my father in anything. So I make my own plan to make him proud to me. I didn’t follow his order to rule only. And not making any move without his knowledge. I failed and that is the thing I almost fear of. Now I fail to kill Kenna at this point, I’ve lost many of our soldiers under my turf. And also to Bartel and Helene you know that their are my companion but I have no clue where they are. So right now I don’t know the consequences of it. Maybe they laugh, awful, shock? I don’t have any idea. That’s why I have a courage right now, to go back at Lykos and face the consequences of my action” Finally I said the overrated thoughts in my head. Meawhile Rose is still silent. And then suddenly she finally move her senses. She speaks. “Do you want my opinion about what you’ve said?” she asked. “Hmmm. Your opinion is much appreciated at this time." I said. "Well your decision to go back at Lykos is pretty good idea and to accept the consequences is really huge moved for you. I know you as cruel and ruthless noble for the record. You have nothing now aside to yourself so that’s the sad part. And your father seems know your plan and you failed, definitely he is upset about it.” she said. “No doubt, he will I know my father Rose.” I agree. After a long silence. She speaks again. “Can I ask if Lykos is beautiful? I never been there since I stay on Stormholt for a long time.” she asked. “Lykos is amazingly fascinating. We have fighting pits if you want some interesting stuff to look for. And also we have shops to visit if you want to pamper youself for a little.” I replied. “I want to go there. I’m alone here. While I don’t know where my brother is, we parted ways.” she said. “Then come to me then. Just hold on tightly while we travel because Lykos is too far away from here.” I told her while I look into her eyes. She startled a bit. “Okay. I’ll take note on that.” she nods freely. “Well then. Take a ride on my stallion and get yourselves ready” I wink. And just like that we went together at Lykos. In my home. The right place for me.
