hello again :) i thought of something i think might be funny, if you’re still taking art requests.
laezel kills an enemy, strikes a cool pose (or just something cool in general), looks over to shadowheart like “did you see??? i’m so cool, heh” and shads just gives her a blank face and thumbs up. but laezel takes this as the highest compliment from her.
(laezel is my favorite companion, and i really enjoy the way you draw her <3)
thank you this idea was perfect

BG3 My Misfit Tavs
i call this the Misfits save bc it's 3 tavs that fit the bill of "weird little freaks that could use a friend" moreso than my other tavs
Isseth Gis'tark, a walking-talking girl failure of a monk caught between years of doubting her edicts and desperately wishing to be accepted by her kin again after a humiliating banishment! (oh god fuck theres a typo in the speech bubbles oh noooooo)
Delyathrin Aluvasiil, a straight-faced loose-laced half drow paladin choosing to keep to himself and who's a little unaware of the habits he's taken with him from Menzoberranzen!
Songbird, a very normal very alive and totally-not-a-Reborn bard who can absolutely feel pain in every limb and not just some limbs, knows how to sleep, and is way too eager to help literally anyone who asks!
i'm gonna infodump my drafts about them but im gonna tab them below so you dont have to read it if u dont wanna
Starting with Isseth!
Isseth is far from the perfect githyanki warrior - an average student at best, Isseth and "success" are acquaintances on a good day. Isseth was sent on a mission and ended up getting some of her kind turned into mind flayers due to her own cowardice. This was a recurring issue, but this was the first time it resulted in her kind's direct harm. Her mentor attempted to take the blame for being an insufficient teacher, so her name was disgraced, she was executed, and Isseth was banished. This earned her that surname of hers: gi + is'tark (student of + coward).
Isseth wandered the Sword Coast for the next few years, hardening her warrior spirit. Or, attempting to, anyway. While she built a hardened outward persona, her time alone on the Material Plane caused her to start doubting her own kind. She was starting to empathize with people who helped her, and she began to wonder if how her kind (and her Queen) operates is something she really wants to be a part of. However, being an eternal outcast on the Sword Coast and having been raised to value the respect her her kin, she got a nasty habit of doubling down on bad impulses in order to silence the doubts she grew so ashamed of.
As a result of all that, Isseth's outward disposition mimics what she believes the ideal githyanki warrior is, but it takes very little to crack into her insecurities and mushier sides. Isseth's taken on a leadership role in the party (though she often defers to Lae'zel and is frustrated by this habit of hers). She's surprisingly suited for it as she learns to open up, since she's far more empathetic than she realizes and is genuinely good at listening to what people need. She's offer advice she herself needs to hear, and grows into a more responsible person chalk full of wisdom!
Until such a time, though, she will continue to do everything she can to prove to herself and her comrades that she's worth a warrior's death.
NEXT, My boy Delyathrin!
Del, as he goes by, isn't the kind of guy who's used to laughing at himself, but he doesn't exactly take himself all that seriously either. He fancies himself pragmatic and is prone to saying something he thinks is badass in the moment and then IMMEDIATELY cringing himself into a coma. Del's past is a troubled one, however, as is customary of most male half drow from Menzoberranzen. Born from a respected drow priestess and a human slave, Del, then named Vasiil, lived in servitude to the disgraced remnants of House Melarn. His Mistress burned "rivval" into his face when he was in his late teens, and he spent most of his adult life partaking in work labor and gladiatory events.
Vasiil soon began his escape from the Underdark with the help of some clerics of Eilistraee. He swore an Oath to kill all monsters, societal or literal, in her name in return. Born anew, he changed his name to Delyathrin Aluvasiil as a mark of pride and spite, reminding his Mistress of the perceived illustriousness of his heritage and rejecting his former identity (del + yathrin = of drow priestess, aluve + Vasiil = farewell, Vasiil). Del embraced this part of himself for a while, but his time in the Underdark had taken a severe toll on him already. He'd basically been whittled down to a tired, paranoid shell of himself by the time he reached Luskan. He decided it'd be best to live alone and help out only when sought out. He's basically just hiding now.
As such, Del is a remarkably paranoid man despite his disposition. After all, he's spent most of his life in Menzoberranzen, where backstabbing and betrayals are commonplace and hard to unlearn. He tends to strike first in the name of self-defence, and is deathly cautious of everyone (especially assertive women who remind him of his Mistress). He prefers not to help if there are too many risks, and he becomes fiercely protective of the few people in his life he's chosen to have by his side. He severely lacks nuance as a person. He'll grow to acknowledge his mistakes and shortcomings and grow into someone capable of truly letting loose with the people he cares for. He'll learn to stop hiding himself behind armor, to fully embrace his current self and move on from his past as best he can.
Until then, he'll continue to watch on in agonized exhaustion and clutch his blade tight as he fails to fall asleep at night.
Finally, Songbird!
Songbird might not actually be human, contrary to what she'll tell you, but she doesn't have much in common with what folks expect about the Undead. Literally made to serenade and assist, Songbird will lend a hand to anyone who asks (even if they're asking her to switch sides in a fight - she'll switch back once she realizes what she's doing, but her knee-jerk reaction is STRONG). Very few live life with as much gusto and curiosity as her. Sure, she has many memories from the many pieces that make up her body, but it's another thing entirely to experience them first-hand! She works hard to hide her undead-ness so as not to get killed by monster hunters. Sure, she's pale and covered in stitching scars and it's rare for her heart to beat and some parts of her body either feel nothing or feel too much, but otherwise she's a totally normal girl who doesn't age, sleep, eat or breathe! That's... a lot of normal experiences she can't have, huh.
Songbird's creation, as one might expect, was a painful one. Sewn together by a lonely necromancer of Velsharoon, Songbird underwent many experiments to perfect what she is. The necromancer, frustrated with the ugliness inherent to her craft, made Songbird to soothe her and lend companionship where she found none in the living (the living don't do what she wants, after all). As time went on, the memories of Songbird's pieces pushed her towards independence against the necromancer's wishes and warnings. Songbird escaped, and went out into the world! Having to hide her nature, though, has only made it harder for her to ignore how much she doesn't fit in with the world around her. Her ingrained need to help already causes problems. Is her love of music her own, or part of her creation? How much of her is by design and how much is her?
Songbird will learn to accept what she is and wear it unabashedly among people she's come to trust will not take advantage of her curiosity or naivety. Every part of her is her, she will experience so many wonderful and terrible things, and she will have people she will share it all with.
Until then, she'll continue to thump on her chest in hopes of getting her heart to beat.
lmao you ever write out a character thing and you sit there and think "aw fuck i did it again, i just wrote about one of my defining trauma responses, aw beans". Isseth's story deals a lot with the uncomfortable limbo between wanting to go back to how things are and knowing things will never be the same ever again. Delyathrin's is about building walls to shut people out or lash out at them when they get too close because that feels easiest when you're emotionally exhausted. Songbird's is about disconnection, uncertainty surrounding the person you grow into and the isolation that comes with that feeling.
these are my funniest Tavs. these were supposed to be the funny Tavs. they're funny, guys, i swear.
I have absolutely made a Songbird Angst comic regarding a certain decision Del made in this playthrough. Uh. Sorry, Astarion.
