you and me both--i get the struggle 100%

in fact i have been contemplating making a google slides presentation video where i talk about the issues with the current tetris app. i will not hesitate to slam on ads first, i don't care if they added tickets that let you skip ads. we shouldn't even have ads to skip--you're mf'in TETRIS. you sold the game automatically by being TETRIS

and i also relate to the tag that says "every time i get an ad i close the app." especially because--okay let me go in depth:

let's say you're on a bit of a challenging level and you run out of tetrominoes. you have to pick between quitting the level, pay with your in-game currency, or watch an ad. you decide "aight fine i'll watch an ad." you sit through a generic game ad for that royal whatever it's called, you click out of the ad, you finish the level with your +10 tetrominoes.

so that means you're free, right? you watched an ad which means you shouldn't receive another when the level is cleared, correct?

WRONG.

apparently according to playstudios, modern tetris is REQUIRED to have an ad ready for you when you complete a level regardless. what, does it not meet the ad quota when a player DELIBERATELY chooses to watch an ad to begrudgingly progress? what sense does that make???

and i know you can sink $3 to turn off the ads, but it's only for a month. when those 30 days are up, prepare to hear "THOSE MOBILE GAME ADS REALLY GET ON YOUR NERVES, HUH?" again as the anger of a thousand gods is thrusted into your heart... like an I piece about to score you a tetris.

mini-lore for this drawing is nothing special: nia got rescued from the asylum by some team/agency (like the one in "Exploring"). she doesn't yet know how to thank the person that actually saved her, but the least she can try is a kiss. i mean if ur ass got physically saved from a lifetime of demonic delusions, you'd pretty much fall in love with the person who saved you as well les be real

the giant trashmaid prevails

there was once fanart of a giant tidy. on deviantart. the good news is it wasn't even giving off any fetish vibes like a lot of other DA posts. it was just a giant tidy with some toxic brew in her hand. but it was taken down, mainly on account of DA's policies against nudity or whatever the reason is. which is fair, especially since tidy isn't officially a teen as of yet.

so to avenge the tlt fanart that was taken off (and to make sure no policies get in the way), i have redone the drawing and kept tidy's 11-twelve bag. there is a standalone alt of the 2nd panel where tidy calls your hot takes trash but that's for another time. i've been waiting to upload this one for a while

Dedf1sh kinda gives me passive-aggressive/unfriendly vibes and honestly I'd like that!! We have too many happy friendly NPCs in the Splatoon franchise, it would be super cool if for a serious DLC like this we have an equally serious NPC.

Anyway you can't just throw the silly zombie octo at me again and expect me to act normal, I freakin lost my mind-

Continuing stuff from my Side Order Rewrite, here's Grayscaled Deep Cut!!!

Thoughts on their individual boss fights below:

I don't have much yet, otherwise I'd make a whole post about it, but here's what I have so far

Frye:

Eel Tornado... 2! But they're all skeletal like the Jelletons. They fly more orderly than in the storymode boss fight

REALLY BIG SLASHING STRIKES from her chainsaw. Like the slashes from Mr. Grizz boss fight you have to dodge between

The eels scream and it's a fucked up version of her boss fight music- like how endless bounder and asynchronous... guy are screaming fucked up versions of off the hook songs

Shiver:

Uses toxic mist to slow you down

Maybe does that cool "ah- ah- ah- ah!" she does when she sings and it creates the killer wail to hunt you down. Toxic mist + killer wail combo oof

of course master mega is here again but skeletal like jelletons

Big Man:

So the bucket is gonna act like a tidal wave. yknow that big bucket at water parks? that. you gotta time your movements to get around it and stuff.

The main challenge isn't really combat it's inking fast enough and mobility.

other than that it's just attacking a bunch of big mans. SIMILAR to his boss fight but still different enough.

Instead of flopping around when you reveal him he sort of stands there... menacingly!!!

arena is smaller than OG fight and buckets pour out on the sides. (think it’s a hexagon but each vertice has an inkfall/bucket that you’re kinda fucked if you bump into and also spawns the lil torpedo fishes. Or smaller shadows.

Listen, Side Order is fun and great.

But...

what if... it was a little different? 👀

SIDE ORDER REWRITE THOUGHTS DOWN BELOW:

OKAY SO the main issue I have with side order is a lack of incentive for Agent 8 and the player to complete the spire with all the palettes. YES. LORE. and I like that a lot BUT fighting Smollusk everytime? Snore. Let's spice it up. We free the owner of the palette by fighting the grayscaled version of them. Each final boss is different, so we as the player have an incentive to see new boss and Agent 8 has to save their souls!!!

So in pic one, Deep Cut (at least Shiver and Frye) still haven't been freed, so they're spaced out. They still give the news, but their dialogue is different and more tired/boring. It'll be like this until the player frees their palettes. (or until they complete the first run? that'd be more forgiving for casual players)

Speaking of, apparently a lot of people got pulled in, right? Let's show them in the order plaza!!! Wouldn't it be creepy to just have grayscaled people wandering around- and the text boxes that usually contain players messages and art is just... blank? (or all replaced with the same message like "Order Will Prevail")

Some other notes:

On your first run, Marina is the final boss. You gotta rescue her!!! First phase it's Marina Agitando, then the second and third phases are Overlorder

Pearl stays a Drone until you complete her palette

As you complete palettes, less and less grayscaled people will be in the square. It makes it more empty, but that's only because you're saving people. But in contrast the lobby becomes more full of instruments and light (like in the actual game)

a bloody robot

i didn't know what to draw yesterday. i was contemplating drawing dedf1sh eating some cookies n cream cake, but i sort of said screw it and drew this instead. a test with my markers.

this would go down as either a. jenny went on a rampage across tremorton and is going to be dismantled as soon as she gets home, or b. she won against a ketchup bottle that was driving her off the walls.

either way, insane jenny posting hours.

(and some of the small little splotches around jenny's laughter are from the marker i used--it was leaking and got on jen's chest plate so i said "oh well" and put that into my drawing.)

I made it for a friend starry, he introduced me to the videos about this particular girl so I was really struck by the aesthetics and the dark themes about her...

She is very cute and tender...

Oh hey, I used to post my cosplays on here...I should do that again.

Wondercon 2024! I FINALLY got to make and debut Tidy from the Webtoons comic The Little Trashmaid by s0s2. I love the character, love the story, and when I found a knitted mermaid tail blanket at the thrift store last year I knew it was time!

I cannot wait to get to wear her again! (Though hopefully at a more warm convention. Even with the blanket tail that's not a warm cosplay!)
