hello tumblr user. in front of you is a post made by a misinformed teenager. your task is to not engage with the post in a hurtful way (rude comments, just being flat out mean, bullying, etc). if you fail, i will give the teenager a knife and let them loose. you have forever.

not gonna lie friends election anxiety is absolutely kicking my ass right now. The worst part is I live in a red state so I know my vote won't count for shit (I'm gonna vote anyway, of course, but still). I hate this stupid broken electoral system where the popular vote doesn't matter (my state is only red because it's been gerrymandered to hell and back, there are more registered democrats here than republicans). I'm scared of losing my testosterone prescription, I have medicaid-based insurance so it would be among the first to go, and I just couldn't afford it otherwise. I'm scared for my family members who are living here without becoming US citizens (and aren't white to boot). I'm scared of seeing hatred spike like it did after the 2016 election.

I’m working as an elections assistant at the polls tomorrow, and I wish I wasn’t scared about it. I thought for a long time about whether or not I wanted to work at the polls, just like I thought for a long time about whether I should put a Harris/Walz sticker on my car. Because I don’t want my car windows busted out and I don’t want to confront angry, possibly armed people tomorrow. I know rationally it will almost certainly be fine.
But in 2020, some men supporting the Republican Congressional candidate showed up at my polling place in camo and with big guns. To “monitor the situation.” My polling place is a library with a playground behind it. There are always kids on that playground. I know all of the librarians by name. My friend lives right down the street. I never, ever felt unsafe there before that day. Those guys were there because they *wanted* to scare us, wanted to let us know they could hurt us.
It made me so angry. Who are these men, to show up in my neighborhood with their guns and frighten children and librarians and people who want to vote? But it also worked. It did make me scared. And I HATE that it made me scared. So I’m doing it. Because the county needs poll workers, and because I can, and because it’s MY neighborhood and MY state and MY country, and I love it for all of its flaws. And it will almost certainly be fine. But if you are minded to light a candle or say a prayer to whatever you believe in or send good thoughts for the protection of voters and poll workers tomorrow, I’d appreciate it.

i spent the last two days working as an election judge at an early voting site in my city. i can't believe how long the lines were at the site where i was working (average 2-3 hour wait), but other locations reported waits up to 6 hours.
in all of my years living here, i've never waited more than 30 minutes to vote -- early or on election day. it's been a long and tiring weekend but i'm ready to do it again -- earlier and for an even longer day -- on tuesday.
here are some last minute reminders/tips for those who haven't voted yet and are making their voting plan:
check your registration to verify your polling place and if there are any ID requirements
if possible, review and mark up your sample ballot and send a copy to your phone/bring it with you
arrange transportation if necessary
allow time to wait in line
coordinate with a friend to keep you company in line or bring a book
bring water and a snack if you anticipate a long wait
when you get your ballot, don't be afraid to take your time! double check your choices before finalizing your ballot
be nice to your election judges -- the vast majority of us are there because we want to help voters on election day, but if you feel you aren't being treated properly, ask if there is someone else who can help you
if you are in line at your polling place before the polls close -- STAY IN LINE
if you have problems at the polls on election day, you can contact the non-partisan voter hotline 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) assistance in other languages at the Protect the Vote site

casual reminder before tomorrow arrives that abstaining or voting 3rd party instead of voting for harris is THE most selfish thing you can do. i know you think you are doing the right thing, but i cannot emphasize enough that these two candidates are NOT "equally bad." palestinians will be in significantly more danger if that criminal shitstain wins, IN ADDITION TO every other minority and less privileged person. if you really and truly want to prove your motivation is to stop the harm of others, then you MUST put your ego aside and do the uncomfortable thing. this is not the time for a boycott. this is not the time to dig your heels in the sand and claim you can't possibly go against your morals. the truth of the matter is that palestinians will be safer if you vote for harris. as a queer woc, with so many friends and family whose well-being is at risk, i will feel more betrayed by you than by the people who vote for trump, bc we are supposed to take care of each other, and yet you'd rather watch us burn than do the uncomfortable thing. abstaining is nothing but a selfish, holier-than-tho, performative act. if you abstain, then you are actively causing harm, and if he wins because of it, those of us who can use our common sense will never forget how much you fucked us over. if he wins, more people (including palestinians) are going to get hurt, and that blood will be on your hands. do the uncomfortable thing. it's a better show of moral integrity than abstaining will ever be

I still vote
As a blue voter in a perpetually red state, my vote has almost never been aligned with the ultimate outcomes on my ballots. I still vote. I think I can count on one hand the number of times a measure I've voted for has passed (and one of those was the legalization of recreational marijuana--thanks for at least one thing, Missouri!). But I still vote. I see a lot of people out there saying "my vote won't matter!" and it makes me sad, because I've got every reason to say that--my vote has almost never swung my state the way I wanted it to. But I still vote. Every single time, I'm at the polls right when they open to cast my ballot. Every single time, I'm surrounded by people I know are probably voting the other way, their ballots immediately drowning out my own. But I still vote. Why? Why do I do it, if my vote doesn't matter? Because I believe my vote DOES matter. Every time I vote, I'm adding one little number to the dissent column. Every time I vote, I'm making sure the Republicans in my state know they're NOT unopposed, even if the opposition hasn't won out yet. Every time I vote, I'm letting the other blue voters know they're not alone. And every time I vote, I hold onto the hope that enough other people will decide to do it that my vote WILL matter. That one day, enough of us will be out there saying "No, enough!" and we'll tip that balance. That people will stop believing they're just one person in the face of impossible odds and realize that if we ALL show up, we're not one person anymore. I can't control what other people do. But I know if EVERYONE got out there and voted, it WOULD make a difference. So I vote. See you at the polls!

You know what I cannot wait for? The day we have an election and we don’t have to say vote like your life depends on it because it does. This man has seeped into every facet of our lives for almost TEN years. Think about that. With one simple vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz he’s cooked-forever, and we won’t have to deal with that urgency again. We can have real policy debates and make actual progress again, once he is gone for good. So let’s do this thing one last time let’s vote like our lives depend on it and get back a better politic.

ok… imagine a moon knight and daredevil crossover where dd has no issues fighting the invisible jackals because the dude cant see shit anyway. moon knight is like “you can see them??” and matt, not wanting to reveal his blindness but having no idea theyre invisible, is just like “yeah i can see of course i can see”
moon knight then assumes dd is an avatar of an egyptian god. bc what else? so, naturally, moon knight asks “what god do you serve?”
“jesus”
“what??”
“im catholic?”
“what???”
