just learned that the term "addictive personality" was made up in the 90s by American pharmaceutical company Purdue as a way of selling OxyContin (opioids). they specifically instructed doctors to profess that only people with addictive personalities would get addicted... so they could sell way more patients a highly addictive drug, and if someone did get addicted their weakness was at fault, not the company.

Can't wait to share this fact with people who use that term in judgment.

really heavily reject this idea that just by virtue of being oppressed you understand everything about all types of oppression, and that reading theory is unnecessary or is something that unoppressed people do to make themselves feel good. do not fall for this trap. you need to be reading . you need to be learning. your own ideas are good but they can only carry you so far. learn from others.
