having cats is never being allowed to art without all the kitties being HEAVILY involved and HEAVILY present.

can't even take a heckin picture without my noodle-boyo puttin his paws all over the goshdang thing aaaaaaa.

the worst part of not drawing for a while is re-training your muscles and mind to work together as well as they used to.

it's like riding a bike: your brain remembers but your body completely forgets.

i love art streams and wanted to eventually get around to being able to do my own. and since i'm more recently in the process of having to re-learn art muscle memory since i haven't been consistent with anything, i figured streaming my agonizing process would be one way of actually getting me to do and commit to it at all.

however.

this would not be digital art, so no clean contained streaming setup all in one place. no. this would have to be a traditional chicken-scratch use-your-gaddamn-phone-as-a-camera-and-hope-for-the-best, laptop set to the side to see anything sort of mess of a setup. and i'm wondering...

would people at all be interested in witnessing such shenanigans from me?

some character references i tried to get done for artfight but never really fully finished/was satisfied with.

experimenting with watercolours and pencil crayons.

first head is how i normally approach colouring my art. pencil sketch, watercolours, get frustrated with waiting for paint to dry, forget about it until later and layer a little more paint in hair, then finish up with pencil crayons on top for detailing, emphasis, and colour variance.

second head i decided to use pencil crayons instead for the face, building up lightly with minimal pencil markings showing through. then the hair (+ eyebrows) are undetailed watercolour wash with in a slightly shifted more stylized shade than her standard orangey hair colour.

third head i was going over in just watercolours and lost track of what i was doing.

i figure, "Hey, let's draw some pokemon! I wanna redesign/adjust aerodactyl since I adore pterosaurs and I finally got a bubby on pixelmon."

started with pencil, watercolours, pencil crayons, lots of regret and frustration at my lack of colour knowledge. then went in to fiddle with lighting levels in photoshop, and also add my blog's name. I'm still not completely satisfied with it, buuuuuut I think that's the perfectionism and impatience talking.

i'm doing artfight this month!

which means other stuff not relating to artfight won't be happening in july.

some tidbits for those who are interested:

first day (or two) of july is break for me. the site's going to be down/slow at first anyways, so i'm not working on content right away.

i will probably take forever to finish pieces.

probably won't do many pieces. but i'll try!

best case scenario: i get up good refs for my chars and maybe even add more characters.

aaaaaaaaaaaaa i'm finally forcing myself to do art fiiiiiiiiight! (realtalk, the seafoam theme was the final kick for me to throw perfectionism to the side and join. i looooooove the sea.)
