I MISS RPING BEV A LOT LIKE A LOT  A LOT. so i think this means it’s time for not only a tng rewatch but a tos rewatch as well. because i need to get my star trek game back. maybe i’ll remake icons too idk. i just need more space mom in my life.  as i’m sure y’all do, too.

     it’s that DREADED WORD that all crewmembers tend to cringe at; sickbay. the young science officer surely doesn’t want to hear it. while she spends ample time back and forth between the laboratories and the medical wings for her work, to be the subject in it … most UNAPPEALING. slowly, t’palia pivots on her heel to face the source of the voice, green eyes hinting at an emotion akin to mortification.

     ❛ this afternoon? you must be mistaken. i do not have it on my schedule … ❜     hand busies with scrolling TACTFULLY through the padd t’palia carries tucked in her arm. it is not on her schedule quite purposefully, in hopes that it could be avoided altogether. logical? perhaps not. but neither is an appointment in sickbay when she is not SICK. however, the young vulcan is certain that doctor crusher has dealt with her fair share of slippery runaways in the past. t’palia is likely not going to wiggle out of THIS ONE.

                                                           ‘STRANGE,’   she mutters, the hint of a smile dancing merrily in the corner of her eye, made only more apparent by the tweaking of her brow, as if the news is genuinely perplexing. She’s had to administer more UNWANTED physicals than she’d care to count. One of the perks of being CMO on a crew comprised of hundreds. She shrugs, and continues,   ‘I’m certain I saw it on my schedule this morning. Lieutenant Ogawa never makes mistakes.’

     She shifts her weight, eyeing the Vulcan with a discerning gaze. She often thinks it funny that motherhood prepared her for this position in ways she could never have foreseen. How many times had Wesley tried to convince her of a phantom illness, despite knowing full well her knowledge and ability? And how often had the discernment of a mother come in handy while wandering the corridors of the Enterprise? If she wasn’t mistaken - this was simply a case of anxiety. Nothing unusual.   ‘I expect you to be punctual, Lieutenant.’

❝  captain picard is unmodest where he should be. i’ve done little to earn his praise where my actions have been concerned.  ❞        spock folds his hands neatly together, balled into a single fist in front of his decorated abdomen.  the red-headed earth woman seems somehow familiar to him, and yet too distant to reach.      ❝  it is unfortunate that the captain would see fit to mention my work over the deeds of his crew. i do not know your name.  ❞

                                                  ‘DOCTOR BEVERLY CRUSHER,’   she replies promptly,   ‘Chief Medical Officer.’   She hadn’t truly expected to be recognized - her stint at Starfleet Medical had been short; she’d been back on board a starship ( by choice ) before she’d even had a chance to feel the Earth beneath her feet. The STARS held too much mystery - she wonders if the Ambassador feels the same way. That, however, is not an appropriate conversation topic on a first meeting. 

     She mirrors his posture unwittingly, hands folding before her as her back straightens along with the DECLARATION of her title. She’s always been proud of her station on board the flagship - she’d worked hard to get here.   ‘How long are you planning on staying, Ambassador, if I might ask?’

     me, asking myself: am i really going to jump on bev’s blog to check on things just because i saw cas get on picard....      me, answering myself: yes. get over it. this is who you’ve chosen to be.      me, again: okay then. r ood.

                                                              ‘LIEUTENANT COMMANDER LODZHAL,’   her tone, while professional and matter-of-fact, retains that particular softness she’s learnt to keep close in all her dealings with the crew ( when they don’t merit the harsh commands of a superior officer ),   ‘I believe you’re due in Sickbay this afternoon.’

                                                       ‘YOU KNOW, I THINK he’s getting better,’   she observes as the door to Jean-Luc’s quarters slides shut behind the pair. Just returned from one of Data’s poetry readings, she’d agreed to a nightcap before heading off.   ‘I thought the third sonnet was actually quite moving.’

                                                        ‘DOCTOR SONG, you shouldn’t be here.’   The appearance of the other woman is hardly surprising; all the same, with the ship on red alert, there are certain restrictions and regulations that must be adhered to in order to keep the crew safe.   ‘Please return to you quarters.’

it’s a familiar room that she’s visited more than once before. somehow, none of them were joyous occasions. none of which were completely safe. she kept her senses open to Beverly, extraordinarily observant.              ❝  normally i wouldn’t be so concerned, but….. this patient shows many signs of stress, sometimes sleep deprivation. they’ve stopped making appointments. what would you suggest i do?  ❞

                                                                                 HER LIPS THIN as she considers Deanna’s words - self-destructive behavior can make itself known in all shapes and forms; sleep deprivation, perhaps the most insidious enemy of doing GOOD WORK on board such a large vessel, seems to be a common thread in all areas of the crew. She understands; there’s always just too much to do in one cycle. Still -----   ‘Well, you can order them to complete a session. You have that ability. But if this crew member is giving you trouble I can add my own orders to the mix and make it a little more difficult for whoever it is to squirm out of it. And, of course, if it continues to be a problem I can remove them from the duty roster until they’ve been evaluated as FIT and healthy.’

                                                                                     SHE’S PLANTED FIRMLY in front of the main biomonitor in Sickbay, arms crossed over her chest, unmovable ( as any good CMO must learn to be ) as she reviews test results from a project she’s recently taken on, when the slick whisper of someone entering behind her pulls her focus. At the sight of the ship’s Counsellor, she smiles.   ‘Deanna, it’s not an interruption at all. Which patient?’
