opened tumblr for the first time in AGES (yay new laptop) and i need to speak to the people. I've seen that some more people are coming across the ship Geriatric Olive (Gerald Robotnik x Commander Walters) and the usual "what's the ship name" discussions are happening - here and on twitter.

now, i firmly believe that the most beautiful ships can have many many names, we don't need to force ourselves to just one.

But I realised that most people aren't insane discord freaks (tbf i'm also not usually, Stobotnik just bit me in the face unexpectedly) so this is me formally making sure that the tumblarinas (my native people) are familiar with this option for the ship name.

Geriatric olive is literally perfect. It creates so many parallels and deepens so many relationships. Walters watches Stone fall head over heels for a Robotnik and he can see is the exact same cycle again. He tries to warn him away from Robotnik but he just makes it worse, Stone grips tighter. "I am not you. He is not Gerald. We're going to be different" Stone insists but in the end it's the same. The cycle repeats Robotnik is too stunned to admit what's really happening between them and then he dies. And it's worse because Stone will never see him again and it's better because Walters had to live knowing that Gerald resents him so deeply. Gerald resents Stone so much more because he reminds him of Walters and he hates it. He hates being reminded of the dedication and, depending on how homophobic you think Gerald is, a reminder of *weakness*.

'middle age' is typically considered to be between 45-65

it is extremely common to switch careers, start new relationships, emigrate, go to college for the first or second time, or make other life-changing decisions in middle age

it's wild that I even have to spell it out, but older adults (60+) still have social lives and hobbies and interests.

you can still date when you get old. you can still fuck. you can still learn new skills, be fashionable, be competitive. you can still gossip, you can still travel, you can still read. you can still transition. you can still come out.

young doesn't mean peaked. you're inexperienced in your 20s! you're still learning and practicing! you're developing social skills and muscle memory that will last decades!

there are a million things to do in the world, and they don't vanish overnight because an imaginary number gets too big

Robotnik has some very strong opinions on his favorite telenovela, and Stone is nice and quite for him. If Stone is even taking in the information, one can only guess.

I had full illustrations drafts ready for this week but then I got hit with the WORST case of burn out, so I’m stuck doing small sketches. Oh well, still super fun!
