“in order to create loving males we need to love males” means teach boys that they can be themselves without being less of a man. it means being encouraging and nurturing of their emotions so they don’t become cold and hateful. it means showing boys, early in their lives, that they have value outside of what our society deems proper masculinity. what it doesn’t mean is that it’s our job to handhold men who see women as walking sex toys through the concept of empathy, and maybe if we’re really really nice to them and don’t say things that hurt their feelings they’ll stop killing us for saying no

this is actually an extremely interesting perspective that i don’t think i’d ever considered before? like i feel like it somehow applies to me in the sense that i tend to sit with myself and analyze what’s “not right” pretty often and then make some life adjustments based on that (enforcing boundaries with people that drain me, making time for rest when i’m feeling exhausted and overwhelmed even if i have stuff to do, that type of thing)
and while it makes sense that part of it may come from a deep need for control over your own life, i think it’s inherently human in its pursuit of pleasure and happiness to look for ways to feel better when something feels “off”, you know? i guess sometimes people feel that something is “off” if they’re simply not euphoric all the time and maybe that’s the problem, but i don’t think wanting to heal and better yourself is an inherently worrisome “social trend” or community mindset
i keep thinking about how it feels as if we have developed ourselves an obsession with "healing" these days – and a friend said something that really stuck in my head – "if you're part of a community where you're always trying to heal, then that means that you always need to be sick". like i think that we're all taking this ideal of healing too far saying that everybody needs therapy all the time and resetting your gut biome or surrounding yourself with positive energy or whatever it is that you can come up with. you're always focusing on something that is "wrong" and that needs to be eliminated, after which everything will be okay again. it all sounds like just another way of maintaining an illusion of control over your life and i don't think it's doing us any good
#this is such an interesting topic and i’d love to discuss it further#like this post made me stop in my tracks and actually do some introspection for a second#i think the human condition is so complex and i just fear that many normal human things are being pathologized online#not saying that’s what’s going on in this post but i do feel like it could be a full circle like i don’t think it’s that serious?#man i love stuff that makes me think#introspection

you have to stop hating yourself for not taking care of yourself before you can start taking care of yourself in a more sustainable way

Sherlocks bright surprised smile when john refuses to believe he made it all up even as he stands on the rooftop abt to ostensibly fall to his death…… The entire country is smearing his name …… “no one could be that clever” “you could” and it’s like the sun rising literally…… The elation in knowing he’s believed, he’s trusted, he’s loved

The people who consider abortion to be murder would be so upset to learn that throughout most of human history, the alternative to abortion and birth control was actually infanticide and not just having the baby and raising it. Especially in times of immense stress and reduced resources. Murdering babies was a thing humans and our ancestors did for thousands of years to ensure the survival of the species. Abortion and birth control has enabled us to live in a much gentler society.
