Pobre Carol, ella solo quería ser su amiga, salir al centro comercial, caminar juntas a la escuela, compartir algún pasatiempo, descubrir que tienen mas en común de lo que pensaban, dar un paso arriesgado, descubrir que ambas guardan un sentimiento pecaminoso, mirarse a los ojos, tomarla de los hombros, acercarse lentamente, besar sus labios, que el tiempo se detenga por un instante, perder la compostura, intentar huir apenada solo para sentir como su mano la detiene, pues ella también siente lo mismo, comenzar a verse en secreto, a espaldas de los ojos de su familia, de una madre fanática, y un padre partidario de un gobierno racista y homófono, solo para ser descubiertas después.

Separadas.

Volviéndose a reunir para huir juntas a Canadá, vivir en un pequeño departamento, abrir una cafetería, casarse, adoptar hijos, tener una familia la cual no las mire con desprecio. Y quizá… tal vez quizá, durante ese tiempo, poder ser felices a pesar de todo.
