Can we talk about Jones? •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

I admit: I have a crush on him since 2015.

Even before I knew Criminal Case had a fandom, and that he was one of the most popular characters.

And then… I found out there was a lot of fanart of him. I was not surprised, you know why?

In my opinion, I think David Jones is a really nice character. Goofy, funny, sweet… that’s what made me really love him. Even when he was stupid sometimes to the suspects (for example, in case 4.) and would get too angry. Yes, I’m not blind: he has his flaws. He’s not perfect. Jones was also rude to my favorite character, Cathy…. But you could see in the first season how much Jones cared for the player (he would defend us if some suspect was talking bad about us). Hell, he most of the times invited the player at the end of a case to a place (BBQ, drink beer or see a concert). Jones was indeed a cool partner.

And you also know why he is one of my favorite chatacters? Because at the end of season 1, he admited that he was a jerk through the season and apologized!! (something that Amy from Pacific Bay never did *cough*).

^^ I believe that is a important aspect ^^

When I heard the news that we would come back to Grimsborough in season 5, I was really, really excited. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy all the seasons of Criminal Case, but Grimsborough has a special place in my heart, so yeah…

I was curious, just like most fans were: was Jones going to be our partner again, or the Chief of GBPD?

Turned out it was the first option.

I was happy to have him has my partner again. And he did not change that much: Jones is still funny and goofy, but I notice that… he became a bit more mature! Which makes sense, since it’s been 5 years since we left Grimsborough.

It was nice to know that he still has Astrid.

And now a girlfriend. Specially a girlfriend!

Jones deserves to be happy after the divorce with Charlotte. You could clearly see back in the first season that he felt down everytime he mentioned his ex-wife.

But hey, I don’t get it why some fans were upset that he has a girlfriend. Only because she ruins their OC x Jones ship? C'mon. Jones doesn’t belong to any OC. That is so obvious! Those fans need to accept that Jones x Zoe is canon. End of the story.

OC x Jones is real in the fanfics tho ;) That’s what fanfics are for, right? To imagine what we want in our story…?

I, myself, ship him with my OC, but I respect the canon. I even felt depressed when I discovered that the kidnapped woman was his girlfriend… I just want to see David happy. That’s all :’) And I’m sure the team is going to bring her back home. I have a feeling…

Oh, and before I forget…

Half of the fandom has been thinking Jones is going to betray us. I don’t think that will happen. Wouldn’t it be too cliché and forced, the most popular character, betraying everyone? I could be wrong, but this is just my opinion.

I can’t say more things about Jones in season 5, since we’re still in the second district.

But, I’m really happy that he’s our partner again. (Plus, he isn’t rude anymore to Cathy, yay).

To finish this text: I could talk about Jones the whole day, but I would be too boring. Listen, it’s fine if you don’t like him, but as long you respect the people who do, it’s all okay. :)
