The séance with Edith hadn't been as helpful as they'd been hoping. Still, he'd gotten his backpack from the graveyard, so it hadn't been a total bust. After walking back into town with Edith, heading back toward the diner everyone had been gathered in, the two had parted ways. He didn't like the idea of anyone being alone here, but he wanted to do some exploring of his own.
After they split up, he headed further into town, and started testing the doors of buildings to see if any of these abandoned places were unlocked.

"Nothing important," Arthur replied, a little too quickly. "That was... less helpful than we were hoping. I guess we can't expect the graveyard ghosts to know if there's a way out of town though."

Be wary of the woods. Arthur sniffed the air, but he could only smell fog and cold dirt and old stone. "Don't go in the woods. Got it," he mumbled. "Monster. I think the preferred term is cryptid these days," he added under his breath.
As Edith slumped a bit, he let go of her hands to steady her. "Edith? You back with me?"

"Uh huh, I got that just from lookin' around." Arthur sighed. "Well, thanks anyway. Um, can I have Edith back now? I don't know how to end this thing."

"I think we can all decide whether it makes a difference to us or not," Arthur said, raising an eyebrow. "Did someone bring us here? Or did the valley just... I dunno, yoink us from whatever times and places we came from? How does this place work?"

Arthur frowned. "That's not gonna fly, pal, sorry. I'm sorry that you're stuck, but we're getting home one way or another."
He tried to think of what else to ask. "How did we get here?" Maybe knowing how they arrived would help them figure out how to leave.

"Okay, maybe not the best question," Arthur muttered. "Do you know how we can leave the valley? How do we get home?"

Arthur squeezed her hands a bit, swallowing nervously. The hair on the back of his neck pricked up as the scent in the air changed- he could smell it, sense it, the moment someone else took control of Edith's voice.
"Um, hi. Sorry to bother you. Do you know where we are?"

"Can do! Hopefully the ghosts aren't as lost as we are," Arthur joked.

"Oh- okay." Arthur set aside his backpack, scooting a little closer and extending his hands to Edith. He's both nervous and excited- he's had a lot of supernatural encounters, but he's never been part of an actual séance before. Arthur usually only saw ghosts and occasionally chatted via the tools he had. Edith actually talked to them. He was a little jealous, honestly.

"For real? That sounds so cool," Arthur said with a grin. "I've never done something like that myself, usually my communication with ghosts is limited to what technology is capable of." He patted his backpack of gear. "I'd love to help, you just gotta tell me what to do!"
Split up and search for clues.
Arthur appreciated Isaac's exuberance, but he was a little wary about everyone wandering off on their own. He knew he'd be fine, but hopefully the others were smart enough to stick in pairs or small groups... or at least if anyone was alone, they'd run into that cat thing again, since it seemed to have met a few of them.
"Well, if we're splitting off, I might as well go see if my gear was dropped with me. Anyone wanna tag along to the spooky graveyard?"

"Look, Edith, I know we're basically strangers, but I'd be a real piece of shit if I left you alone in this place. There's clearly supernatural stuff goin' on, and not everything out there is as friendly as most ghosts. If you wanna just hang out a while, I'll stick with you for now."
Arthur set his bag down briefly to rummage around, and pulled out an ornate looking silver knife in a old leather sheath. He clipped the sheath to his belt, then adjusted his jacket to hide it. Then he pulled out a pocketknife and offered it to Edith. "Do you want something sharp to hang onto? Could come in handy."

Arthur shuffled a bit uncomfortably, looking at a gravestone that was blank except for the epitaph: 'Forever leaving a scar in our hearts.' "Um, did you wanna stick around and check this place out more? I don't wanna just leave you wandering around alone, it's probably better if we stick to a buddy system. We don't know what else is out here."

"Hm?" Shit, he hadn't been as subtle as he'd thought. "Oh, well, kinda? Like I said, I've got a nose for this stuff. I could tell there was something supernatural goin' on with you, not what it was though."
Arthur hoped that was enough of an explanation. He liked Edith all right so far, but they were still practically strangers. He wasn't sure how she'd react to his not so little secret.

"Ooh, okay! I'll watch our backs, make sure there's no cryptids or beasties around like Parker was going on about," Arthur offered. Then he made a zipper motion over his lips and started looking around more of the graveyard, stepping quietly. It was eerie how near-silent he could move when he wanted to.
He didn't smell any 'beasties', so he mostly just looked around at the other gravestones, trying to make out the names and dates.

"Yep! My gear survived, my camera lens isn't even cracked- I might be able to get some decent footage out of this weird vacation, unless there's some sort of spooky thing that'll distort the image or something- wouldn't that be cool though? I can't wait to find out!"
Arthur looked around the graveyard, then knelt down again to look at the gravestone his backpack had been closest to. "Thanks for lookin' after this for me, pal," he said, patting the top of the grave.

"I wouldn't say they're drawn to me, necessarily. More like I've kinda got a nose for the supernatural," Arthur said with a grin, tapping the side of his nose. He didn't doubt him being supernatural himself in a sense helped too. He chuckled to himself, it was kind of like a personal inside joke to phrase it like that.
"Hey, here we are! One spooky graveyard," Arthur said, sweeping an arm out as it presenting it to Edith. "And... score! Yes!" He jogged over to a lumpy shape on the ground and scooped up his bulky backpack, unzipping it. "Please don't be broken," he muttered, sorting through the gear until he found his camera. "Ha! And it's not even out of batteries- thank you, spooky graveyard!" He zipped the backpack and slung it over his shoulders. "Mission accomplished!"
