The Tragedy of Susie Zhao
Susie Zhao, also known as "Susie Q", was 33 years old and a professional poker player. She had returned to Michigan to be with her family during the pandemic and lockdowns, and unfortunately met Jeffrey Morris around the same time.
On July 13, 2020 two men found her badly burned and partially mutilated body in a wooded area in Oakland County.
Her hands was restrained with zip ties. She was brutally raped, doused in petrol and burned alive.
Zhao was last seen by her mother around 5:30 p.m. the day before she was murdered. After several calls with Morris Susie met him at a motel. Police analyzed her cell phone records and found out that she was there until 5 a.m. What exactly happened is unknown to this day.
Prosecutors said Morris did act out his disturbing sexual fantasies, which included anti Asian racism, extreme violence and kidnapping. Morris had previously been convicted of a sex crime in 1989. He was sentenced to life in prison.
The judge Martha Anderson called the case "one of the most harrowing trials" of her career: "And believe me, I've had many, many murder trials. But I can't get over the brutality of the murder and the pointlessness of it all."

It’s always devastating when a celebrity unexpectedly dies–but what’s even more shocking is when said celebrity was murdered. Christina Grimmie was a singer who was famous for her song covers on her YouTube channel, which she started doing at the age of 15, as well as finishing third place on The Voice. Artists Adam Levine and Lil Wayne took particular interest in her and tried to sign her to their record labels, but she ultimately chose to sign with Island Records. With Christina’s popularity in the music industry growing at a rapid rate, she evidently had a successful singing career ahead of her. But her future would be ripped away from her on June 10, 2016.
On that day, Christina was performing at The Plaza Live in Orlando, Florida. Afterward, she was signing autographs for her fans outside of the theater. What Christina didn’t know was that the next fan in line had two handguns concealed inside the back of his jeans, and a hunting knife strapped around his left ankle. When it was his turn, she greeted him with open arms. That was when the man shot the YouTube star twice in the head and chest. Christina’s brother tackled the gunman but he managed to break free, backed himself into a wall, and shot himself dead. She was rushed to the hospital but the singer was unfortunately pronounced dead less than an hour later at the age of 22. The perpetrator was identified as 27-year-old Kevin Loibl. Although his motive behind killing Christina is unknown, friends of the killer told police that he had discovered Christina on YouTube the year before and became obsessed with her. He believed they were well-matched due to their mutual love for video games. Christina’s murder shocked the entire country and her death led to calls for increased security at performing arts venues. The musician was buried in a private ceremony in her hometown on June 16.

On August 8th, 2008, Amanda Lewis placed a 911 call from her modest Florida home stating that she found her 7-year-old daughter, Adrianna, in the family pool and didn’t appear to be breathing. The young girl was rushed to the hospital where she died only an hour later. Initially, her death was treated as an accident until her 5-year-old half-brother stepped forward and claimed that he personally witnessed his mother dunking Adrianna’s head in the pool as punishment. Investigators took a fresh look around the house that now appeared to be a crime scene. Right off the bat, they noticed something peculiar–neither Adrianna or her half-brother A.J. had any toys in the house. When Amanda was questioned about that, she claimed that she took them away for a week as punishment and stored them in the shed. However, when they searched through the shed, they failed to find any toys. The emergency room physician who handled the girl’s medical care had also noted that when she informed Amanda that her daughter had died, she didn’t have much of a reaction, which she found odd. Amanda was put to take a polygraph test, which she failed. It was discovered that Adrianna was diagnosed with ADHD. Although she was a happy and outgoing child, she also had some behavioral problems. A.J., however, was a calm and quiet child who was able to sit by himself and play, not causing his mother any trouble.
In court, her son was put on the stand to testify against his own mother, even drawing a picture to delineate what he’d witnessed her do. There were some doubts as to whether or not he was telling the truth, as his story changed multiple times and was shaky at best. The defense argued that his grandfather was coaching him on what to tell. In the end, however, Amanda Lewis was sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole.

(Post is better read in its original layout with extra media here)
“I think it’s better to reign in Hell than be to be a slave in paradise.” - Milton (as quoted by Claux)
In the mid-nineties, then 22 year old Nicolas “Nico” Claux was sentenced to 12 years behind bars for the murder of a 34 year old man named Thierry Bissonnier in Paris. The two were not acquainted in the real world, but had chatted about bondage on Minitel (a sort of early precursor to the internet where users could connect on message boards) and decided to meet up. It seems that Bissonnier was expecting a sexual encounter, but Nico Claux had a fantasy of his own in mind- murder. Claux had premeditated the murder for a long time, in an interview with Living TV he confessed that although he had always wanted to kill, he had no reason for choosing the 4th of October 1994 as the date, or Bissonnier as the victim.
He shot Bissonnier in the face seconds after the man had invited him into the apartment and closed the door. Claux then gave himself a tour of the dying man’s abode as he bled out onto the door, face down and spluttering into the ever growing pool of blood beneath him. The first shot had clearly not ended Bissonniers life. Later analysis would show that the all but one of the bullets had neglected to penetrate the skull. This surprised and intrigued Claux, who fired a few more shots into him and then observed his victims twitching, groaning body while he ate some cookies that he had found while looking around. When he’d grown tired of the spectacle and had finished his snack, he ended the man’s suffering by firing another shot into him and smashing in his skull with a large and weighty plant pot. He then partook in some opportunistic thievery, commandeering the man’s answer machine and clock as well as swiping his wallet and ID for some acts of future fraud. The whole ordeal lasted around half an hour.
It was the use of Bissonnier’s (modified) identification and credit card that eventually lead to the arrest. Nico Claux, who came to be known in the media as “The vampire of Paris” divulged details freely. He told of his grave robbing, cannibalism, blood drinking and the murder, and revealed that there was no specific motive for killing Bissonnier other than the pursuit of delivering death and knowing murder.
Nico had felt a strong attraction to death for as long as he could remember. One of his favorite pastimes was wandering alone amongst the tombstones and mausoleums of Parisian cemeteries-but Claux was no ordinary taphophile, he took his obsession to the next level. He dug down into graves to unearth bodies from their caskets, he broke into tombs and prised open coffin lids to get to the skeletal remains within, he even took a job at the local hospital (stretcher-bearer at Saint Joseph Hospital) and worked at the mortuary where he would cut flesh from the bodies and consume it. Later, in an interview, he would reveal that it tasted “like horse meat” and in another “It depends on what part you eat. The big muscles of the thighs and back are good. There’s no meat in the breasts, only fats“ (See “how to eat human meat” instructional drawings apparently done by Claux above from a Documenting reality thread. which user x313x shared back in 2008)
He was often left alone with the decedent as it was his job to stitch them up following an autopsy. It was during these solitary hours of work that he would select the pieces he wanted to prepare later at home. He would study their files like a macabre menu before choosing which parts he would eat that day. The hospital also gave him access to blood bags, which he would also sneak home to pair with the meat. The blood would be stirred into human ashes that he kept in his apartment to thicken it to a preferred consistency. He shared his abode with souvenirs of his cemetery visits- skulls, bones and ashes filled the rooms of his apartment, and his fridge was well stocked with human meat and blood from the hospital.
In an interview, Claux described his apartment in his own words: “While they were probably not surprised to have found the pistol, they were almost certainly not prepared for the grisly scene that welcomed them.Throughout my apartment, bone fragments and human teeth were scattered about like loose change; vertebras and leg bones hung from the ceiling like morbid mobiles, and hundreds of videocassettes, mostly slasher and hardcore S&M flicks, filled my shelves. One can only imagine what went through the minds of the investigators as they looked around my living quarters. On one wall hung a bullet-riddled target, while across the room sat a TV set with jars of human ashes resting on top of it. Several bondage magazines were piled in a far corner, and nearby my backpack was found, which contained handcuffs, surgical instruments and duct tape. In addition to my tastes and choice of décor, investigators also discovered several stolen blood bags inside of my refrigerator.”
He was convicted of the murder of Thierry Bissonnier, and I believed suspected of others but not charged. (Apparently there were several murders of homosexual men in Paris around the same time as Bissonnier and the same type of weapon had been used) During his 8 year stint in prison he dabbled in painting and became quite skilled in it. His pieces would sell for between $300 and $500 and you may recognize his art work from “the serialkiller calendar” website. Following his release, Nico Claux continued to be open about his crime. In an interview with bloodclub.com (which can be read in its entirety HERE via the way back machine) he reveals that the murder was a huge ego boost, and something that obsessed him. He stated that since he’d completed the goal that the idea of taking a life is no longer so exciting, but that he had the capacity to kill again.
Post-incarceration life for the vampire of Paris became a creative world of painting and tattooing. His old MySpace account (HERE) listed his favorite shows, movies and interests, unsurprisingly horror films, death, cemeteries and his continuation of a journey down the left hand path. I’ll finish up this post with an excerpt from an interview I found on murderpedia:
Did you ever have sex with a corpse? Yeah. So what?
Did you talk to any of the corpses you dug up? I’m no psycho!

The Murder of Tina Jørgensen
The murder
This story begins on September 24, 2000, in the city of Stavanger, Norway. 20-year-old Tina Jørgensen was walking home from the city center around midnight. However, she never made it home. In fact, it seemed like Tina had disappeared off the face of the earth; she was gone and had left no trace behind. She was reported missing, and the police searched for her for over a month until they finally found her. Sadly, Tina was not alive; she had been murdered by blunt force trauma and then been stuffed inside a sewage outlet, wrapped in a plastic bag.
What happened to Tina? Well, that question still has not been answered. The police could not determine what the murder weapon was, and possible DNA had been washed away by the water. Still, the police had almost 2000 leads to follow up, and they questioned around 1800 people in regards to Tina’s death. Some witnesses were claiming to have seen Tina shortly after midnight standing outside Burger King, talking with an unknown man. The man was described as having long brown hair and wearing a brown leather jacket. Another witness informed the police about possibly seeing Tina on the night she disappeared talking to a man outside of a dark BMW. However, these leads never led to an arrest.
In 2001, Tina’s boyfriend became the prime suspect in the case. The police had become suspicious of the boyfriend after he changed his story about what he had been doing on the night Tina disappeared and a cadaver dog detected the smell of human remains in the boyfriend’s car. However, another cadaver dog did not react at all. The police did not have enough evidence, and the boyfriend was released. In 2015, a man in his mid-30s was arrested on suspicion of having something to do with Tina’s murder. However, he was later released. In the fall of 2021, a man in his 50s was arrested. The man is a person of interest in the murder of another young woman named Birgitte Tengs (read more about this case HERE), but he is also of interest in the murder of Tina.
Aftermath
As of October 2021, the murder is still officially unsolved.

When he was twenty-years-old Michael Morganti was buried alive. His killers, John, Weidert, age seventeen at the time, and a sixteen-year-old boy simply known as John A, paid a visit to Morganti in his Clovis, California apartment on November 21st, 1980. John A. was able to lure the developmentally disabled man from the safety of his apartment on into a truck, where his girlfriend and Weidert were waiting. This would be the beginning of Michael Morganti’s horrific end. Once inside, they bound their victim’s hands behind his back, and drove him to a remote location near the mountains. Morganti was then forced to dig his own grave with a shovel provided by his kidnappers. For forty-five torturous minutes the man was stabbed and beaten with a baseball bat and shovel. The teenagers first attempted to kill Morganti by strangling him with a wire. When that did not finish the job, they pushed their victim into his grave and proceed to bury him alive. According to one of the unnamed, teenage witnesses, in a last plea for mercy, Morganti reached up at Weidert as the boy continued to bury him in the earth. The autopsy report would show that the victim had dirt inside his lungs, ruling the cause of death to be suffocation.
What could have compelled two young boys to commit such an unspeakable act? John Weidert once considered himself to be a friend of Michael’s. They often worked together at janitorial service. In the summer of 1960, Weidert stole $500 from a client while he and Morganti were on a job. Morganti served as the lookout. Later, the man they stole from was able to trace the twenty-year-old to the crime. Weidert feared that Morganti would testify against him, so he set out to silence his friend. Originally, he tried to hire out the hit job. These plans fell through, and Weidert was left scrambling for a new idea. After classes that November day, he drove around with his friend, John A. and explained his current predicament. The sixteen-year-old agreed to help out his friend.
John Weidert would go on to be convicted for the kidnapping and murder of Michael Morganti, and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. In 1984 he took his case to the appeals court, and was able to reduce his sentence to 25 years to life with the opportunity for parole. After receiving recommendations for his release, Weidert met with the parole board in 2015 and in 2018, both of which he was denied. Morganti’s family has been very vocal about their outrage and fear of their son’s killer being possibly set free. Michale’s sister, Vikki, who was only ten-years-old in 1980, spoke about how her family was still haunted by the heinous murder.“We still have nightmares about Mike. You know, calling out to us, and then he’s not there and we don’t know where he is and we can’t get to him. It still happens.”

On the night of September 13th, 2016, Jacqueline Vandagriff (24) got tired of trying to meet someone online and decided to go out. She tweeted: “I’m glad I decided to get off Tinder and walked to a bar”. It would be the last tweet she would make, although, as we’ll later see, it wasn’t the final tweet in her account.
What happened after Jacqueline walked into that bar in Denton, Texas, is part of an ongoing investigation, but what we know is this. There she met a man called Charles Dean Bryant (30). They talked and flirted, caught by the cameras in the bar, and then left together. The next morning, on September 14th, Jacqueline’s dismembered body was found burning in Acorn Woods Park. Bryant was arrested and has been charged with her murder.
A few days before the murder, Bryant had been released from jail after been arrested for allegedly stalking another woman. In a search of his place, police found a hacksaw with potential hair on the blade, guns, knives, possible bone fragments and they also took away his electronic devices, because they suspect they’ll find child pornography in there. They also found Jacqueline’s purse in his trash and he was caught on camera buying a shovel from Walmart at 4:41 am, a couple of hours before her body was found.
In a chilling twist, Jacqueline’s Twitter account was updated on September 15th, one day after her remains were found. The message read: “Never knew I could feel like this”. Police is investigating the source of this update, and they haven’t been able to find her cell phone.
Bryant’s social media also contains some message that, in hindsight, are disturbing. On the night of September 13th, after leaving the bar with Jacqueline, he wrote in his Facebook “Teach you tricks that will blow your mind”, and then, sometime after the murder, “Early mornings and sleepless nights but she got you feeling alright.”

On July 16th 2011, 17 year old Tyler Hadley bludgeoned both of his parents to death with a claw hammer at their family home, hid their bodies inside a locked bedroom and then spent numerous hours cleaning up the blood before throwing a party.
Around 60 guests arrived that night after Hadley advertised the party on his Facebook page. Within his online invitation, he wrote about how his parents would not be home to stop it from happening. Friends later described that Tyler had seemed very happy and hospitable throughout the evening, but his facade was ruined when he took a friend aside and told him about his killings that same day. He even went as far as to show the guest the traces of blood left behind in the garage, apparently almost boasting about it. That same friend contacted the police shortly afterwards, and Hadley was subsequently arrested the following morning. The mutilated bodies of Blake and Mary Jo Hadley were discovered slumped exactly where Tyler said he had left them.
Initially, Tyler claimed that he had heard voices in his head and also that his father had frequently been violent towards him. However, despite the discovery of anti-depressants in Hadley’s possession, this was soon refuted after further testimony and evidence contradicted these statements. Hadley’s brother, Ryan, spoke of how their parents were “awesome” people and also labelled Tyler a “pathological liar.” Regardless of Tyler Hadley’s disputed psychological state, he was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole in March 2014.

On the 4th of August, 2014, 12-year-old Jamarion Lawhorn took some “little red pills he found” in his home in Kentwood, Michigan. He then took a knife and walked to Pinebrook Village. In the playpark, he found 9-year-old Connor Verkerke and his 7-year-old brother. The three children played for around 20 minutes. Then, Connor attempted to climb up a slide but fell to the ground. When on the ground, Jamarion came up behind him and stabbed him several times in the back and arm. Connor and his brother managed to flee to a nearby home but Connor died from his wounds shortly afterwards.
Jamarion found a neighbour outside and asked to use his phone to call 911. He told the dispatcher that he had “taken many pills” and that he hated his life and stabbed someone. “I want to die. I don’t want to be on his earth anymore,” he said. He later said he believed that the police would arrive and shoot him dead. A gel plasma sample was taken from Jamarion which proved positive for the prescription drugs, Mirtazepine and Promethazine. Inside his home, police found drug paraphernalia which tested positive for cocaine. It was described as an “unsafe and deplorable condition” with no sheets on the children’s beds and clothes strewn throughout the house. Utilities had been shut off and there was minimal food.
When Jamarion was picked up by police after the fatal stabbing, he was covered in bruises. He said he had been beaten by his stepfather, Bernard Harrold. He said his mother, Anita Lawhorn, also beat him, sometimes with a belt or an electrical cord. The state removed his three siblings from the home. It transpired the CPS had arranged to move Jamarion to live with his father in New York. However, Jamarion was sent back just weeks before the murder and CPS had no idea. They never followed up after the move. It was also revealed that CPS had ignored Jamarion in 2013 when he told them he was being abused at home and showed them his plethora of bruises.
Jamarion is the youngest person to ever be charged with murder in Kent County. He was ordered to remain at a juvenile detention centre until he is 21. In 2021, he was released.

Residents of Sioux City, Iowa called for the return of the death penalty after the brutal murders of Leticia Aguilar (31) and her 5 young children by live-in boyfriend Adam Matthew Moss (23) on August 28, 2001. The only clue to a potential motive was neighbors reported hearing the couple argue earlier. Moss left and returned home early morning with a hammer and knife. He beat the kids, aged 6-11, to death and slit Leticia’s throat. Hours later, he fatally stabbed former employer Ronald Fish and stole his car. The Aguilar’s bodies were found on the 30th and Moss was captured the following day. He pleaded guilty just 2 months later and was sentenced to 7 consecutive life terms. Almost 12 years after the murders, Moss committed suicide in his cell.
