Why throw a discus when you can throw a keyboard?

Some people say programmers don’t move unless they’re out of pizza or caramel macchiatos from Starbucks. Well, we can’t argue much here: we do love pizza, we adore caramel macchiatos and a whole lot of programmers don’t ever leave the comfort of their screens. However, we’re not your average web design agency and even though we _do_ spend countless hours making your website look mind-blowingly awesome, drinking liters of Red Bull and dealing with Internet Explorer compatibility issues calmly (it’s hard, but we try our best), we _do_ value sports as well. That’s why we decided to organise probably the very first keyboard throw championship. Why, you ask? Well, because why not!

Months before this idea turned into an event, we were sitting in our meeting room thinking about the right piece of hardware to throw. We were looking for something easy to throw, sturdy and something no one could be killed with. Yet, we knew it had to be geeky enough—we’re programmers, not Olympic athletes, after all! After making a quick tour around our office, we came up with this unique and fantastic idea of throwing keyboards—they were thin, light, could fly high and were tools we typed our code with. We were good to go.

Hundreds of zumba moves were tried in order to warm us up, tens of cartons of Lithuanian kefir were drunk to keep us up and throwing, lots of keyboard throws were attempted and finally, the event turned out to be a huge success (not for the keyboards though) with the best result being 36 metres. No doubt here: now’s the time to get the keyboard throw included in the next Summer Olympic Games or… Or wait, why not just start our very own Geeklympics?
