is Qaf uk worth the watch?? And how does it compare to the us version in your opinion?

it’s very short in total so i’d def check it out - especially if you’re american because i think it contextualises a lot of the things they couldn’t translate directly when they remade it. also good representation of shitty british club culture and a few scenes that should’ve made it into the remake (sexy boy. ‘i’m mozart!’ stuart plagiarising an obituary)

i think justin should’ve been written closer to the endearing awkwardness of nathan, it makes more sense for his function as the youngest character than to be a child genius like justin is lol. most of the characters are just a little bit funnier.

notes - nathan & justin were both written to be on the cusp of the age of consent which means nathan is infamously 15 in the uk version. i genuinely don’t know why they didn’t just bump it up a couple years since charlie hunnam looks older anyway. not the biggest fan of russel t davies’ writing but he pulls it off mostly. + it kind of ends in the middle of nowhere lol

even if you just watch the pilot (qaf us did a shot for shot remake) out of curiosity to see how the characters compare, i think it’d be fun. series one of qaf us was stylistically the best one which is definitely thanks to it trying to emulate the british irreverence
