Hello witchy friends~

I wanted to let you know that I have certainly not forgotten about you or about the zine. Something that is very difficult for me to a) realize and then b) accept is that sometimes I bite off more than I can chew - and that it’s okay to ask for help when you need it. Well, I’m swallowing my pride to say this, but it’s important because the work involved in this project is not just my own by that of many other wonderful people like yourself! Which is why, I hope you will understand and support me as we bring COVEN: A Witchy Zine into 2018.

Okay, so you may be wondering, will we have to wait for Halloween of next year to finally see this zine? And I firmly believe: No! I want to make this zine a reality as soon as possible. But I may need your help, if you have any experience with planning a Kickstarter or the accounting portion of any small project like this one. When I was working on the numbers for the COVEN Kickstarter I had some estimates I felt strongly about - only to realize I had miscalculated a large portion of the funds necessary to bring this to life and it would fall short. I hope you understand me when I say that I want to create this zine but I am not, unfortunately, able to create any of it really out of my own pocket. Which is, again, why I’m asking for your help.

I have gotten several large projects off my plate starting 2018 - so I am fully committed to getting this Kickstarter running in the new year - I mean, there’s NEVER a wrong time for witches, right?? If you think you can help out with planning the Kickstarter, please please feel free to email me back (allisonranieri@gmail.com). I look forward to lots of witchy fun in 2018 with you:)

All notification emails as to your acceptance status have been sent out as a reply to the email with which you originally sent me your submission. If you did not receive an email and you submitted a piece, please feel free to contact me at allisonranieri@gmail.com! 

Thank you SO much to those who submitted - and congratulations to those accepted! I had over 120 submissions, and I was happy to be able to expand the number accepted to 50! It was a tough decision to make, but I know this will be an amazing zine! 

Your continued support in signal boosting the zine, here, on tumblr, and on twitter (allisonranieri) is much appreciated as we move in to creating the Kickstarter! That will be started around August, so that the zines can be shipped out by Halloween 2017!

to all who submitted to COVEN: thank you so much for all your hard work, patience with the weird guidelines and passion that you put into your art!! I (@allisonranieri) will be going through all the submissions along with a few other artist friends in the upcoming weeks to figure out what submissions to include! 

One thing is clear however - I have received over 120 submissions for this zine - my original intent was to have it include 32 entries - it is looking like that number will expand! (SO that is good news for all of you who submitted!) I am having a wonderful time soaking in all the beautiful art, coming up with my own piece for the zine, working out interior art and design, etc. 

I will notify everyone who submitted by the email they submitted to me at by no later than November 30th whether you are accepted or not, and I will provide further instructions henceforth if you need to make changes to your piece, etc. 

I have a super special artist working on the cover and I CAN’T wait to reveal it! I hope you will help signal boost and support the Kickstarter in droves as well to get this amazing art book printed and the artists who are chosen compensated for their work!
