i’m grabbing caps from s6ep2 to icon, and as i’m going through the episode i... am absolutely convinced that the cosmic wolf is meant to symbolize keith and his growing bond with krolia throughout those two years on that creature’s back. it lands right with them and takes a moment to warm up, much like keith. we know him to be private, and he doesn’t cave to krolia’s role as his mother; he rightfully refuses to give her the title. eventually, the wolf cuddles up with keith, and i think this establishes the wolf’s connection to his character; it’s always by his side. as the scene progresses, and the wolf grows, it eventually settles on krolia’s lap, though, and this could represent keith’s gradual trust in krolia as he begins to open up to her too. we know he talks about his past with shiro at least, and towards the end of the two year run, the wolf starts to play with them both. 

and idk y, but this little realization made me cry a bit bc together, they nurture that small puppy into this beautiful wolf. to me, this symbolizes the overcoming of difficulties and anxieties brought on by krolia’s disappearance on keith’s character, and expresses how keith came into that more mature person that we see throughout the season.

he blinked, once, twice, three times, & even still the statement didn’t make much sense to him. just because he summoned this demon, it didn’t automatically make whatever he had belong to lance.

            “uh, no? that magic is yours, it’s not like it’s mine to control or anything.” but even with keith’s reassurance, he stepped closer to the demon; just a bit closer & he’d practically be clinging to him. “you know what’s gonna console me? if we could just go home; that’d be great. yeah.”

It’s sentimental, stronger in emotion than he should care to admit, but the words root themselves out of his throat and branch off of his lips; “it’s mine,” he confirms, “but you don’t think I’d try and keep you safe with it?” There’s no indication of hurt, no out right accusation, just a curiosity as he regards the other; despite what he is, Keith doesn’t believe that he’s done anything to set Lance in immediate danger. This haunted get together included--it hadn’t been his idea, after all. 

That’s probably why he snorts a laugh now; “You’re the one that wanted to come here in the first place--I told you it sounded stupid.”

“I guess so, but it’s still something that I’m sure can become overwhelming at times, especially considering none of you were exactly expecting to be thrown into a war lasting several decaphoebs.” Okay so, that was mostly her fault, but she assumed if they didn’t want to do this anymore Allura wouldn’t force them.

“I can detect unusual cold spots, but that’s about the limit. I’ve never really searched for a ghost before so I’m not sure what kind of technology is needed in a situation like this.” She was becoming ore interested by the second, blue moved leaning over Keith just slightly so not to make him uncomfortable, but also not completely away from him. “You strike me as the type that would know lots about ghost hunting and this was one of the first places taken over by the galra so there should be a few here.”

“We weren’t...” he answers simply, brows furrowed in brief thought; it was a lot half the time, especially when neither of them had been trained for any part of this reality--aliens and magic. His upbringing might’ve helped cushion his transition into the cold majesty of space, but the others? It was hard. “...But it’s been worth it,” he adds, and it’s an absolute truth that resonates with the beating of his chest; to help keep the universe safe, to help keep his friends safe, and to further uncover the dark mysteries shrouding his past...it’d been worth it. 

He blinks at her next remark; “...I know a little more than the basics from books and shows, but not a lot more, so...I guess we’ll see where this goes...”

     “Woah, I’m not sure which wanted poster looks more edgier. Yours or Lance’s.” Hunk inspected their wanted posters with intrigue. They shouldn’t even be staring at it in the first place. It was begging for them to get arrested. However, curiosity took over and he just had to look, “I don’t look half bad either?”

“..Sure, if edgy means ‘I just came out of a mad house’...” He comments, nose scrunching with a telling distaste. While he hadn’t been one for vanity in particular, he could at least appreciate a rare good side, and this...holo-poster thing, had failed to do him any justice. His eyes were vicious, his scowl grave deep, and hair a crazed mess. 

Shifting towards Hunk’s poster, he tilts his head in assessment; “...If you were to run into this guy,” he throws a finger at the holo-poster in question, eyes glimmering with brief amusement, “you’d probably run in the opposite direction.”

There’s an instant warmth that greets him, beats through him with a tender pulse that soothes his every edge, and he momentarily damns their conflicting class schedules. 

“Well, professor?” He touches a calloused palm to Shiro’s soft cheek, guiding him down. It’s Shiro’s presence that relaxes him, the intimacy stitched into their familiarity loosening his tension and snark. “Can I trust you to not get distracted again?”

Arguably relatable ( if not entirely so ), Keith withholds judgement and settles for an examination; the length of the wound’s an angry array that denotes...pretty damn serious. 

“...Okay, I know a spell that’ll help clear up the blood and swelling a bit, but it’s not gonna heal it completely,” he starts, producing his wand. “We can bring it down in intensity and then bullshit some story at the infirmary...” he adds, giving Lance a mildly concerned look; “...but it’ll cost you an explanation--how the hell did you get this?”

“...I don’t think there’s a specific way--you just kinda hope for the best,” he starts at her question, falling back on all prior knowledge obtained through shitty scifi documentaries binged while in the clutches of midnight boredom. “But there’s equipment you can use to try and pick up readings...dunno how that works for aliens, though.”
