More About the Community of Belton, MO
Origins & Name
George W. Scott and William H. Colbern purchased about 80 acres of land on August 13, 1869, from Manzey Q. Ashby of Kentucky, who had received it a month earlier from the U.S. government. Scott and Colbern filed a plat for the 80 acres in December of 1871 and called the new town "Belton." Belton was incorporated in 1872. It was named for one of Scott's close friends, Captain Marcus Lindsey Belt, who helped Scott survey the land. The two had served in the Civil War together. Belton and its environs were settled largely by families from Kentucky.
The Shawnee
The Shawnee lived and owned land four miles west of Belton, just across the Missouri-Kansas border, on what was known as the Black Bob Reservation. Located in the southern part of Johnson County, Kansas, it was deeded to the Shawnees in the Treaty of May 10, 1844. Because of harassment from both sides at the beginning of the Civil War, the Shawnees abandoned their lands and settled in Indian Territory, now Oklahoma. At the end of the war, they found their lands in Kansas had been occupied by white settlers, and most Shawnee had to return to Indian Territory empty-handed.
First Trading Center
High Blue, two miles west of Belton on 58 Highway, was the community's first trading center. It was about 1,200 feet above sea level, making it the highest point between Springfield and Liberty Memorial Hill in Kansas City. Belton is located on a ridge reaching to Lee's Summit. All water north of Main Street flows into the Little Blue River east of Kansas City. All water flowing south of Main Street goes to the Grand River and then the Osage River, finally emptying into the Missouri River 10 miles east of Jefferson City.
Order Number 11
Following the sacking of Lawrence, Kansas in 1863 by Quantrill's Raiders during the Civil War, the union commander in Kansas City, Brigadier General Thomas Ewing, issued the infamous Order Number 11. It decreed the depopulation within 15 days of an area 30 miles wide and 100 miles long south of the Missouri River on the western border of Missouri. The order affected 20,000 persons, who had to salvage what they could of clothing, personal belongings, and livestock to make a hasty move. Plundering and devastation followed. Union soldiers confiscated horses and wagons. Looting was rampant and torches were set to fields and homes. The area came to be known as the Burnt District and for 18 months was largely uninhabited.

Harrisonville Historic Overview
Harrisonville, Missouri was first established as early as the 1830’s as pioneers from Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia moved west, drawn by the rich farmland and numerous streams and rivers. Harrisonville would be the county seat of Van Buren County, later renamed in 1849 to Cass County. In 1835 the Missouri General Assembly enacted legislation to appoint three state commissioners to establish a seat of justice within five miles of the center of this county and a year later, 160 acres of land were selected for the site of the county seat. The town of Harrisonville was established in 1837 and was named in honor of Albert J. Harrison, one of the first two U.S. Congressional representatives elected from the state of Missouri.
The National Park Service officially certified Harrisonville on August 24, 1993.  On April 8, 1994 the Square was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  The Harrisonville Courthouse Square Historic District consists of four full blocks of commercial buildings facing the Courthouse Square and portions of five additional City blocks just off of the Square.  All together, the district contains 37 buildings, 34 of which contribute to the historic architectural qualities and historic associations of the district. In December of 1994 the City adopted its “Guidebook for Landmarks and Preservation Districts.”  Furthermore, Architectural and Art Historical Research from Kansas City conducted an architectural survey in 1995 for the City of Harrisonville.
As they say, the rest is history!

Just a 20-minute drive from the Independence Event Center, and you will find the highest quality of medical, surgical and aesthetic dermatology — all in a friendly, comfortable office setting. Blue Springs, Missouri
Blue Springs is a city located in the U.S. state of Missouri within Jackson County. Blue Springs is located 19 miles (31 km) east of downtown Kansas City and is the eighth largest city in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. As of the 2010 United States Census[4] the population was 52,575, tying it for 10th largest city in the state of Missouri with St. Peters.
The Jackson County Court granted the incorporation of Blue Springs on September 7, 1880, making the City the fourth settlement in the county to be incorporated. An early settler, Franklin Smith, arrived in Blue Springs from Virginia in 1838 and became a leading figure in the community's development. He established the first post office in 1845,[6] naming it after the well-known springs.
The settlement continued to grow near the springs until 1878, when the Chicago and Alton Railroad announced plans to build a station about one mile east of the original settlement. To take advantage of the commerce the railroad would bring, the town moved its center to the site of the new station and continued its development as a rural trading center.[7] The Chicago & Alton Hotel built in 1878, located on Main Street west of the railroad tracks is the oldest business in the City of Blue Springs.
Historical attractions near or in Blue Springs include: Missouri Town 1855, Fort Osage National Historic Landmark, Dillingham-Lewis House Museum, Chicago & Alton Hotel Museum, and the Lone Jack Civil War Museum.

Harrisonville, MO
Harrisonville is a city in Cass County, Missouri, United States. The population was 10,019 at the 2010 census. It is the county seatof Cass County.
Harrisonville was founded in 1837 upon land donated to Cass County by Congress for county purposes, and was named for Congressman Albert G. Harrison, who was instrumental in obtaining the land grant.[8] The area suffered greatly during the American Civil War, though Harrisonville was one of the few places exempted in Union General Thomas Ewing's notorious General Order No. 11 (1863), which ordered the depopulation of three entire Missouri counties and part of a fourth.[9]
In 1972, Harrisonville was the site of escalating tensions between a handful of would-be hippies—mostly Vietnam veterans—and town elders, which culminated in a brief rampage by 25-year-old Charlie "Ootney" Simpson. In the town square, in plain view of onlookers, he killed two police officers and a bystander before shooting himself. The victims were officers Donald Marler and Francis Wirt and local businessman Orville Allen. His motivation turned out to be personal, not political; he had saved money to buy a farm, but the seller had recently backed out of the deal, and Simpson had used the money to bail his friends out of jail.
The Robert A. Brown House, Harrisonville Courthouse Square Historic District, and St. Peter's Episcopal Church are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Mohs Micrographic Surgery
Mohs micrographic surgery is the treatment of choice for many skin cancers, especially those located in areas where it is vital to spare as much normal skin and tissue as possible. This procedure offers the highest cure rate of any treatment for non-melanoma skin cancer – up to 99 percent for basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. It also minimizes the removal of surrounding healthy skin, which leaves the smallest wound or scar possible. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and under local anesthesia.
