“That’s a bit of an interesting angle for that to go at.”
“How do I get it to stop?!”
“How are you still standing?!”
“Don’t get up, you’ll make it worse.”
“What happened to you?”
“I can’t feel my fingers anymore…”
“Everything hurts.”
“Is everything supposed to go dark?”
“Ow, yeah, okay, that’s starting to hurt.”
“It’s just a cut.”
“I’ve had worse.”
“You’re bleeding all over my floor!”
“You better not die on me.”
“They got a lucky shot…”

‘Evans might have been born with the superhero gene. He says that he doesn’t need to train excessively hard to stay in shape — about an hour a day in the gym maintains his superhero physique — and adds that he can eat what he wants […] “That’s the most irritating quote I’ve ever heard; I’m sure it’s true, and I’d like to rewrite it,” says Downey […] Johansson recalls nibbling on kale chips and dry popcorn on the set of “Avengers,” and turning around and spotting Evans with a handful of gummy bears and Skittles.’ — Variety, March 25, 2014

“ i wasn’t gonna let ‘em kill ya. ”
days gone. / @diffcall
knuckles brush over the cut lip before he steps down on the edge of the shield, flipping it up into the air to be caught. it’s weightless to him, and the way he slides it over the arm, fingers curling around the strap, reminds him that this is who he is. this is the battle he fights, every day and night, no matter the hour. there are people who look up to him, rely on him, and yet, to an extent, he feels as if he’s blowing by everybody as a breeze. they see him, captain america, the man with a plan, the patriotic, justice-fighting soldier, but not steve rogers. and it’s something he’s had to come to terms with rather quickly, because he’s well aware that he’s a living legend that’s come from their history, seemingly one of the good things that they’ve done in the history of this country. steve has caught up (or so he thinks) with what he’s missed out on during his time in the ice, and he certainly isn’t the same naïve twenty-seven year old who wanted to do nothing but serve his country in a war that he felt they were certainly innocent in.
the world is corrupt in more ways the one, and that includes the country he serves. no place is clear of stains, that much he’s sure. (steve rogers is everything that america wishes it could be.) “ thanks, clint. ” he takes a moment to look at the mess of unconscious bodies that surround them, and though he could’ve taken care of it himself rather than have another avenger sacrifice themselves, he won’t brush aside the courage it takes to step up like that. “ i’m sure you enjoyed the challenge of knocking them all out without, you know, blowing me up with an explosive arrow. ” though... he’s sure he would’ve survived that. gratitude aside... “ how about you clean up this mess, huh? maybe there’ll be a BLT sandwich waiting for you back at the tower to thank you for your janitorial skills, ” he jokes, rolling his shoulders out. no one ever said that steve can’t joke around with his team, after all. this is more of steve rogers than captain america showing.

digging into the past. / @involuntaryspy
1: how well do you get along with your parents?
vivid imagery sparks within the brain the second the question is asked. he remembers the dull colours of the cramped apartment with little to no decoration. he recalls his torn shoes and socks and the pants that were always oversized–– the patches sewn back on by his mother because they couldn’t afford anything new, not for at least another month. he’s shaped by these experiences as a young child, the knowledge of being thankful for what he does have, and not dreaming too much about what he would like to have.
“ when they were still alive–– with my ma? fantastic. a real force of nature. taught me everything i know today. or, well, almost everything, anyway. ” she told him to never stay down–– to always get back up. those are words he abides by to this day, a way to keep her memory, her spirit, alive within himself. i can’t forget her. sarah rogers. my ma. “ my father? it’s... complicated, i guess. ” on the other hand... he doesn’t remember as much of his father. he’d died from the influenza when steve had been a lot younger, and the things he does remember aren’t particularly pleasant memories, either. he’d been happy once, he remembers that, but according to sarah at the time, he’d... changed after returning back from the war.
( i understand that now, he thinks. )
a hand rubs at the back of his neck, and despite the old anxiety that rises thinking about his childhood, he smiles, nonetheless. if anything, there’s nothing he can do about the past and his feelings. “ with him, before the first war, we’d been somewhat close. as close as a three year old could be with his dad, anyway. it all changed after the war, and then he’d died–– god rest his soul–– and i... can’t say much else. ” he doesn’t speak of the times his hands raised, the loud voices, the broken bottles. no, it’s all something he wants to keep in the past.
30: name one positive change and one negative change you've undergone in the past ten years.
" to be fair, i’ve only been awake for the past... four years, so i guess being defrosted and waking up was a positive change. does that count, or is that cheating? you know what, i think it counts. ” he’s playing the easy way out, and, well, it’s the only answer he can really give that won’t cause potential concerns. he’s learning to move on, to progress forward, and to live in the moment, but he can’t say that he doesn’t occasionally get stuck thinking about the past and all the ‘what could’ve happened’ moments. “ as for a negative change? my lack of sleep. though, with all due respect, i slept for seventy years, so i’m sure i’ve slept enough for my lifetime. ” way to skirt around the edges of the question, rogers.
39: list three words you would use to describe your younger self and three words to describe yourself now.
he takes a moment to ponder, to gather his thoughts. " my younger self would be: determined, naïve, self-reliant. three words for myself now? ... still determined, growing, and empathetic. ”
#involuntaryspy#★ i’ll get back up. ≻ answer.#is this sorta a hc...#well.#maybe.#a little bit.#more like steve lying his dumb ass off but wbk

“ hope is dangerous. ”
misc. / @fallencomrade
feet shuffle in the darkness and there’s something akin to holding up five hundred pounds on his shoulders (as if he were sickly and frail yet again) in the way he shrugs. for every day he moves toward the future, it’s another weight to add onto the metaphorical boulder he’s carrying up the hill, or perhaps it’s the howling voices in his head that don’t know how to quiet. remember when you failed him? your brother. your family.. you failed him. it’s not the first time he’s been reminded, and he knows, just as much, that it won’t be the last, either. teeth grind together as the muscles in his jaw work, clenching, cowl held between two hands as he stares down at the white ‘A’ painted across the forehead.
times have changed, he’s certainly aware of that. some things haven’t, such as the way the world loves him, the man who holds the shield and upholds the preach of justice and freedom. it’s everything he continually fights for–– everything he hopes that the world could achieve one day (he knows, in the back of his head, that it won’t ever turn out that way). he hopes there will be more people like him some day, stepping up onto the stage to be recognized for who they are instead of a label.
“ hope keeps us alive, buck. ” or so he thinks he knows what he’s talking about. ever since becoming captain america–– not the clown punching a fake hitler on stage over a hundred times–– he’s had to pick up the motivational speeches. to a degree, he never quite wanted to be a leader, but it comes naturally, so it’s what he does. step into the shoes of a man, rogers. the people look at him as the hero, and there are days he’s not sure who they’re talking about. (he knows they glorify captain america, not the man behind the shield.) “ without hope, people can’t survive. they’ll give up. and once you give up... ” voice low, he trails off, thoughts rushing around in his mind. who am i? what am i worth? he puts the cowl on, straps it, and stands up. “ let’s just say that it doesn’t end happily ever after. ”
