Yellowcard: Album (Review)
When a band that holds so many memories and so many amazing songs in everyone’s hearts decides to finish their journey, you can expect an incredible last album. That is exactly what Yellowcard has given us with their final, self-titled album “Yellowcard." The ten song full length album comes out today, September 30th, 2016, but many people have already gotten their hands on it via preorder and VIP ticket packages. “Rest In Peace” begins this album with a very memorable Yellowcard sound; the ringing of the violin mixed with strong guitars. That notable sound that one would only recognize as Yellowcard continues in “What Appears," “Got Yours," and “A Place We Set Afire," sticking to their pop/punk ties. Within the album, we get a completely different side to the Yellowcard that we have all seen and heard. In songs like “Leave A Light On," “I’m A Wrecking Ball," and “Fields & Fences” we hear that vulnerability we love to hear from a band. “I’m A Wrecking Ball” has almost a country under-tone which is so different, but still remains sounding like the band. “Fields & Fences," my personal favorite, is truly one of those “you can get back up” ballads. So many people can relate to this song. These beautiful ballads are the perfect goodbyes to their fans. Also on the album are the single the band has been pushing the most, “The Hurt Is Gone”, and two more solid Yellowcard songs, “Empty Street," and “Savior’s Robes." These songs just scream Yellowcard, the band we all know and love, and what they stand for.
If anything, this album really is a goodbye letter. A letter to all the fans and people who have built memories from what this band has produced. Starting in October, the band will be on their final tour together. Fans will be screaming along the lyrics and this album only shows that these songs are here to stay just like every other Yellowcard album.
This goodbye album couldn’t have been a better way to say farewell. Yellowcard has filled our hearts with so many incredible things that we won’t forget, from “Ocean Avenue” to “Rest In Peace." We will love you boys forever, thank you for everything you have given us. Best wishes.
If you have a chance, don’t forget to go out and see them on tour for the last time.

THE BREVET (Review)
The No Name Bar in Los Angeles was packed to the brim with people of all ages buzzing about in delightful conversation on a casual, summer night. Some drank, some ate, everyone admired the intriguing artwork hanging from the walls of this bar that was certainly a hidden gem.
Upon checking in we were informed that “no photos of any kind” would be allowed, including cellphones. I wish we could have documented how amazing our new favorite band, The Brevet, was. But I guess, you’ll just have to check them out for yourself (list of upcoming tour dates at the bottom!)
The crowded room quickly dulled to soft hum as the charming group of men consisting of Aric Chase Damm (vocals/guitar), Michael Jones (piano), David Aguiar (drums/percussion) and Ben Ross (bass) squeezed together on the small stage. The word “Brevet” read in brilliant red and white neon letters about Jones’ piano.
Without a word, Aguiar started the echoing kick drum. They were presenting their latest EP, EMBERS: CH. 2. Man, can this band perform; the music resonating with you on an entirely different level. Their sound has been compared to that of The Lumineers and Mumford & Sons, both of which are spot on. The band performed two of my new favorite songs; “Be Your Man,” which they just released a new music video for and it includes incredible band and fan footage; and “Hold On;” a upbeat yet soulful song purely about holding onto yourself and not letting life cut you down.
The energy within the No Name Bar swelled with pride as family and friends watched these men do what they do best, perform their music and putting their entire soul into it. Even people like myself, someone who hadn’t heard much of these artists beforehand, knew that they were a band to watch from the second the set foot on stage.
The band has opened for the likes of NEEDTOBREATHE and Young The Giant but I can definitely tell that they’ll be on their own headliner soon enough, helping pave the way for alternative pop-rock bands everywhere.
As they finished their set the four piece jumped off the stage and embraced their family, friends, and fans with open arms, eager to talk about the music they just performed and humbly accept the praise they definitely deserved.
Now, what are you waiting for? Go look up The Brevet; their music is on iTunes, Spotify, and everywhere else music is sold. Fall in love with the band that combines the feel good beats of pop to the freeing vibes of alternative rock.
UPCOMING SHOWS:
 • Sept. 9th, Jasper Folk Festival in Jasper, Canada
• Sept. 10th, Kaledio Fest in Edmonton, Canada
• Sept. 22nd, Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, CA
• Sept. 30th, The Fifth in Anaheim, CA
• Oct. 21st, Rockwood Music Hall in New York, NY
