I’m not sure if it’s intentional or not, but I’m getting very strong Enigma/Alan Turing vibes from this “Werther” situation. The dialogue is tying it all in for me. It’s a bomb about to go off. A riddle that needs to be cracked. Not to mention the Alan Turing reference in the last episode. A+, bobberens

Like, this episode kept its focus, had perfect pacing, it advanced plot and character development, it was scary and creepy, it managed to enrich the mythology, there wasn’t one false note!

what is with the pizza bear and berens?

Berens and the Pizza Bear

Alternate title: Look, I swear I had a good reason for going through Robert Berens’ twitter page for half an hour

Okay, so, back at the beginning of the year, bobberens had a television interview. This happened:

It became this whole meme on twitter where people kept photoshopping things about which Berens was concerned. Then they started photoshopping pics of Thompson with the caption, “Concerned about Robert Berens.” A good time was had by all.

Some time later, Berens began to tweet things about the pizza bear.

Then he started posting pictures of Pizza Bear with various captions, like so:

And then this happened:

I was vocally amused about this on twitter, and so was rainbofiction. So the next time I wrote writers’ room crackfic, I added a part where Berens exclaims, “Oh my sweet pizza bear!” because I knew Rowan would spit-take when she saw it.

And now it’s a weird back and forth thing where we make pizza bear jokes about Robert Berens in all our Very Serious Speculation about what goes on in the writers’ room.

That is the story of how the pizza bear became part of Fandom Fandom.

‘Origin pilots’ aren’t as effective as pilots that give a sense of what a typical episode should feel like. Don’t write the characters’ first meeting. Just jump in — write your pilot like it’s episode two, and fill in the details through clever use of dialogue.

I had a dream I was Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. But I couldn’t quite bring myself to kill anyone with my chainsaw, and with all the tentative swinging of my roaring saw and then my recoiling from landing the killing blow, I accidentally dropped the chainsaw and sawed myself in half.
