I feel as if people underestimate Morty’s intelligence sometimes. Like he was the 1st one there to figure out Doofus Jerry wasn’t their Jerry. But also he figured out that the memory-parasites only can create happy memories before Rick did. And he was able to lead a group of tree people and devised a rather simple but effective plan to get Rick & Zeep Xanflorp to work together.

I mean, he’s not genius-levels of smart, but…
