In mine and many other east Asian cultures, the dragon traditionally symbolises things like power, wealth and strength (imperial symbol and all)
I think we often forget that in the story of the Great Race, the dragon came in fifth because it'd stopped to give people rain. Then it'd stopped again to push a rabbit adrift on a log across the wide river so it reached the shore safely (that's why the Rabbit year comes before the Dragon).
Dragons aren't meant to just be powerful - they are meant to do good with such power, and to help those in need.
So in this lunar new year, I hope you gain more power, so that you might be able to help others. I pray you have abundant resources so you may give to yourself and those around you. I wish you courage, endurance, kindness and generosity, for yourself and your people.
I hope you, and I, will be rain givers, life preservers, joy bringers.
I hope we will be dragons.

Okay which one of you gave me a month of ad free Tumblr??? Thanks, anyway. If I knew who you were I'd send you a crab, which is apparently a thing we can do now.
I guess I'm back? Boy there sure are a lot of ads around here. Why do some people have checkmarks behind their usernames??? Do I even still remember how to Tumblr??????

Electric kettle all the way, man. I have one of those fancy ass ones with different buttons for different temperature settings (green, white, oolong, French press, black) and a keep warm button, even.

One of my favorite tricks for designing alien species/cultures is to take a real animal with an interesting lifecycle and think about what that biology would translate to if they had human intelligence

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Hannibal (TV) Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter Additional Tags: Post-Canon, Fishing, veiled references to cannibalism Series: Part 14 of Hannibal stories Summary:
Hannibal liked to watch too. He never complained about Will’s choice of hobby. He had protested when Will went outside to gut the fish, but only casually. For the most part, neither preferred to kill where he ate, if only out of a concern for formality.

This is the short fic @coloredink won in my Tumblr giveaway last year, very tardily delivered.

Quote
When death comes like the hungry bear in autumn; when death comes and takes all the bright coins from his purse to buy me, and snaps the purse shut; when death comes like the measle-pox; when death comes like an iceberg between the shoulder blades, I want to step through the door full of curiosity, wondering: what is it going to be like, that cottage of darkness? And therefore I look upon everything as a brotherhood and a sisterhood, and I look upon time as no more than an idea, and I consider eternity as another possibility, and I think of each life as a flower, as common as a field daisy, and as singular, and each name a comfortable music in the mouth, tending, as all music does, toward silence, and each body a lion of courage, and something precious to the earth. When it’s over, I want to say: all my life I was a bride married to amazement. I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms. When it’s over, I don’t want to wonder if I have made of my life something particular, and real. I don’t want to find myself sighing and frightened, or full of argument. I don’t want to end up simply having visited this world.

Glacier Bay, Alaska.  2 look similar, but couldn’t decide if I liked the wider view or the slight zoomed in.
