This summer I’ll be interning at Microsoft as an electrical engineering intern! 🔋 It’s honestly been my dream job for so long and it’s crazy to think that I’m finally here in Redmond working for such an established, innovative company. I started last week and wrote a post about my experience as a new intern at Microsoft. Check it out at tinyurl.com/week1atmicrosoft 👩🏼💻 I’ll also be posting more throughout the summer about my interview experience, my project, and intern events, so keep an eye on caitlin.site, will ya? #microsoftlife #microsoftintern (at Microsoft Corporation) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx_USe3AC24/?igshid=1u5xo7e9a1zk1

Not to be super deep or anything, but the top photo of this post is accurate in that it portrays how junior year simultaneously went in two different directions. On one hand, I made some of my best memories: giving a TEDx talk, visiting Iceland and Cuba (even though I just got my passport this year), welcoming a new class of sisters to AΩΕ, forming even stronger friendships, building robots and embedded systems, and digging deep into my passions. But on the other hand, junior year proved to be one of the most stressful, exhausting times of my life: pulling semi-all-nighters several days in a row to finish consecutive projects, spending nights in Duffield studying when I knew my friends were hanging out with each other, hearing negative feedback over and over again on different issues and realizing that my passion projects were slowly spiraling into the exact opposite of what they were intended for, feeling intense impostor syndrome in every class, and occasionally losing sight of what I love to do and why I love to do it. — Looking back on this year, however, I wouldn’t have done any of it differently—I got close to people who I am so grateful for and respect enormously; I gained knowledge and skills I didn’t tap into before; I changed and adapted and learned, especially through my mistakes, and I wouldn’t give up that growth for the world. Here’s to the end of another year at Cornell—to all of the people who’ve helped and guided and supported me along the way (not everyone is pictured !!)—and to the start of an amazing summer and the last year of my undergraduate career. Okay so slope day was a super fun time of course and I’m very happy there wasn’t a giant storm like last year but I have a few questions: What flavor were @steveaoki’s cakes? How did I think putting sunscreen everywhere except for my face was a good idea? Why did I only lose one earring? And most importantly, where did my flannel go??? 🧐 ps swipe to the end to see a summary of my various #slopeday moods 🌤🎧🍰 (at Libe Slope) https://www.instagram.com/p/BxP5KBCBFsS/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=uhfur92453s1

I’m an ECE (electrical and computer engineering for you non-nerds) and today was #eceday, the one day a year to entirely celebrate our major 🎉 There’s rarely a day when I’m not tired, frustrated, overwhelmed, or any combination of the three. On the other hand, there’s *never* a day when I’m not curious, excited, *and* determined. At the end of the day, I have no regrets about choosing to be an ECE and joining this incredible community of friends/innovators who are by my side from circuits and signals to embedded operating systems and microcontrollers 👩🏼💻🔩💡 (at Cornell University) https://www.instagram.com/p/BxLqeMnBl5K/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=54ex35j3v2ry

“Thank you for coming to my TED talk”: a phrase I’ve said many times to my friends, typically when explaining why I jaywalk with confidence or spend my free time watching Vines. It’s always been said ironically, but a few weeks ago, I got to say it on a stage with the TEDx letters behind me. Speaking at the 2019 TEDx conference for Monta Vista High School was a terrifyingly awesome dream come true. In the coming weeks I’ll share my talk and my experience flying across the country for a 20 minute speech, but in this short caption I’ll emphasize this: I couldn’t have gotten on that stage without the many family members, friends, and resources supporting me along the way—thank you for always believing in me ✨ #tedx #tedxmontavista #redefiningreality #ilooklikeanengineer #womenintech (at Monta Vista High School) https://www.instagram.com/p/BxJK0piBjE7/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1iydmdb5xzhqb

My entire career in technology started with the tiniest of sparks. I was not an immediate lover of computer science—it was a slow journey of knowledge and appreciation for what hardware and software can do 👩🏼💻 I’m incredibly thankful for the educational opportunities I’ve been given, from public school classes to summer programs and internships 📚 These opportunities got me to where I am today, but not everyone has that same range of possibilities. That, and the power of hands-on eduction through hackathons, is what I’ll be talking about as a speaker for IgniteSTEM, a conference to inform educators about the importance of STEM education 🔭 I’m extremely excited to share my point of view with the people who teach the new generation of scientists, authors, athletes, and visionaries! 💡 #IgniteSTEM #womenintech #ilooklikeanengineer (at Columbia University in the City of New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwqHO38BjLg/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=12us67mvezxz8

The Earth is an incredible planet that we need to take care of more, because there isn’t a plan B 🌎 We so so much to hurt our home, when helping to preserve it can be as simple as reducing plastic consumption and taking the bus to work. I thought I knew that before, but I didn’t even fully recognize how beautiful and vulnerable our planet is until I visited Iceland this spring break. Read about my experience and the environment’s impact on some of the world’s most majestic natural wonders: tinyurl.com/earthday-Iceland 🥰🌲🌤 #happyearthday #savetheplanet (at Iceland) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwlFZeohqaN/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ntk1k6jqx9zc

A few weeks ago I was interviewed by @girlgeniusmag as part of their series “Letting Off STEAM” 🌟 I spoke about my journey into technology and my drive to stay in the field, especially with the added pressure of being a #womanintech. I also mentioned my unnatural talent for remembering Vines, because that’s certainly relevant, right? 👩🏼💻 Check it out at tinyurl.com/lettingoffsteam! 💓 — #Repost @girlgeniusmag with @get_repost ・・・ Happy Friday everyone! Check out the latest episode of Letting Off Steam by @priyanshixx and @kaactoos! Today’s episode features @codercaitlin, a talented women in tech! The link is in our bio. For the fourth year in a row, I had a blast at #pax 🎮 From VR and Battleblock Theater to porchetta sandwiches and limited edition pins, #paxeast was an amazing time to discover new games and return to old ones (all while spending time with my bestest buddy @sean09877 😘 and my fave sister @meagan.stanton 👯♀️). Catch me at Cornell playing some new games on Steam ✌🏻 #morewaystobeunproductive (at PAX East) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvxnDJjBqNF/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1ozk50oppoag5
