Heartstopper is different from other queer YA shows bc it's does not shows the discrimination, bullying and and homophobia like the other shows. It portrays a young couple like any other teenage high school couple and doesnt sexualize the hell out of them. We can see them hesitate, doubting themselves, interacting and discussing their life with their also insecure friends who are also trying to figure out their own lives. That's what makes it realistic. It's a comfort show for me because for the first time I'm watching a queer romance without seeing the characters constantly hiding from homophobia and being ashamed of their own identity. And we URGENTLY need a wlw comfort show just like Heartstopper. MAKE IT RIGHT NOW. I need to see a show about two young girls crushing on each other. Don't make them hot, don't put them in extreme situations. Just show us that two teenage girls crushing on each other, dating, being accepted by their peers, teachers and parents and live a normal life.
