currently thinking about and mourning and generally being sad about the summer hikaru died... thinking about how all the tragedy that befalls yoshiki and hikaru could’ve been avoided if they lived literally ANYWHERE else </3 like from the story’s standpoint, if hikaru’s family didn’t live in that town then there would be no mountain, and subsequently no ritual tradition that would require him to wade through it and ultimately die and get taken over by “hikaru” and all that good (bad) stuff. and if yoshiki (and hikaru!!) were raised in the city where being queer was normal and not so frowned upon, then it would’ve been a whole lot easier for them to accept themselves and their feelings at the very least :(

we have till complaining that ivan never bothered to ask if till was alright, to which ivan pointed out that till never cared to, either.

so, this line in cure. ivan’s plea for his pain to be noticed. in the end, though, neither one of them acknowledge the other’s wellbeing in that way until it’s far too late. they both wanted to be asked, seen, understood, checked in on, but they defaulted to thinking the other was more averse to him than he actually was. so they never got to properly notice, never got to ask each other if they were alright.
