Reminded more than once that Dongfang Qingcang is talented. And this is indeed an undeniable fact, especially when you look at how quickly he learns lessons, even in relation to such small things like these. [Episode 20] Noticing something interesting, the excited Xiaolanhua hurries to take a closer look, but Dongfang Qingcang forbids her to do so.

She explains to him that she has never seen this before and that she finds it interesting.

And look at him! Just look at how charmingly and sweetly His Majesty absorbs this information!!!

[Episode 23] And a little later, when a similar situation repeats. "Haven't you seen it before?"

He knows what to do. "Come with me…" As if it's not his success that he can give her even a drop of what she wants? (After all, she hasn't asked him for anything yet)

[Episode 13] I think the same about this. When Xiaolanhua wipes her lips from the traces of Dongfang Qingcang's lips when he kissed her without permission before.

In the end, she runs away from him, leaving him with his thoughts of "took a wrong turn". He, by the way, stands there for quite a while, and could have stood there even more if Sangque didn't come.

[Skipping the kiss in episode 26 because it's different] [Episode 28] And perhaps at this moment he remembers that lesson of "kiss without permission", so he does not dare to kiss her first. He freaking needs it! But he won't do it.

She does it. She kisses him first.

Top 5 scenes in "Love Between Fairy and Devil"!

EXTREMELY IMPOSSIBLE AND LIABLE TO CHANGE... TOMORROW.

Okay so in no particular order:

DFQC rescuing Xiao Lanhua from Shuiyuntian. You just can't go wrong with it. It's classic, it's epic, it hits all the tropes but does them so well. Everyone cheered.

Yeah that's cinema.

2. Dongfang Qingcang hangs the love lock on the bridge. This is the best scene in the series. I know that. I have rambled endlessly about this scene. What could be better? What could be more romantic and heartwrenching?

Ten thousand doves cried.

3. There is no hierarchy in a couple. What a wonderful and mature moment. What a brave, courageous, and resolute heroine Xiao Lanhua becomes. What I love about this is that they didn't even have to do it. Xiao Lanhua's status as the goddess of Xishan would inherently resolve any power imbalance issues between the two. But guess what? LBFAD is a better show than that. It tells us that her role as the goddess isn't just a way to put them on equal ground. They already are, even when she's just a flower fairy with a damaged immortal root.

4. Pretty much all of episode eighteen. If I had to pick one scene, it would be when DFQC breaks down in his father's room and XLH comforts him, but the entire episode is just so excellent. It's everything great about this drama- the humor (so many cute and funny moments), the themes, the emotional resonance, the surprising amount of maturity. Everyone in Silent Moon Palace gets at least one good scene, and it starts out so tragic but ends up so healing by the end. THE LBFAD episode.

5. The piggyback ride. I wanted to name something cute and not as heavy, because all of my other ideas were so serious. SO I remembered that this moment is one of my faves. It's so fun and playful. I wish they'd been able to have more moments like this!

Didi's styling for Live Long and Prosper has me a little captivated and is making me rotate the blorbos. It gives me such Dongfang Qingcang vibes, but like, a less rigid DFQC; maybe one that was raised for his position was Moon Supreme but never had his emotions forcefully stripped out. This doesn't mean he's necessarily well adjusted; child DFQC was a softhearted kid, and he's now been forced into the role of a warrior and a a warlord. Even if his dad didn't put him in the torture sarcophagus, he may still have treated him cruelly in attempt to raise him into the leader he wanted him to be. He'd certainly be likely to have some baggage.

Like he's still an extremely formidable warrior, but he's not quite as firm and straight laced, and he's certainly not as hardhearted as DFQC starts out. He's more openly emotive (from the getgo), but he can still be scary and hello he's still Moon Supreme. Certainly, judging from what we see of DFQC as a child, he wouldn't be a cruel ruler, but it would hardly matter to Shuiyuntian, who would still spread rumors of him being the greatest evil to ever evil.

The real truth is that Shuiyuntian just can't handle how much hotter, prettier, and better dressed he is than their leader (this is also true in canon btw).

Could 100% still kick your ass, is just a little less aloof about it and maybe a little nicer. Can't harness hellfire, of course, but he's still the best sorcerer in the three realms. Perhaps without hellfire, he's less of a long range fighter than we see in the series, which would explain a more streamlined, practical outfit than the huge armor. Maybe he's known as more of a scrappy but equally terrifying warrior, as opposed to the almost devil deity figure Shuiyuntian seems to see him as in canon. Maybe he's even seen as dangerously clever and deceptive, because he can do a hell of a lot with magic and his sword, but he's not out there shooting laser beams out of his eyes like I assume Shuiyuntian thinks he can in canon. He's got to be smart about his fight (and just like in canon, he can't show signs of weakness).

Also still baby boy of course.

Oh man… My watching new dramas/series/movies/any show and even probably cartoons has almost stopped for more than 2 years now… (2 years!? Oh my god????😱)

I recently finished two c-dramas and dropped one in the end of it (But should I mention that I kept coming back to CangLan over and over again while watching it?)
