Sydney’s POV (English - Spanish ⤵️) It’s moving day! Finally! Even though most of Seth things were already here in Foxbury and I’ve been shopping for two weeks for furniture, my stuff was still in my old apartment, in my old campus. I had to change schools cause… I was involved in a scandal with one of the members of the staff. Even though he was seeing other students (without my knowledge), I spent years with him, even when I was a teenager. So, yes, it is normal that Seth was extremely angry and almost lost his shit when everything blew up. I think I’m handling everything with the right amount of denial, suppressing my feelings, alcohol and pointing my attention to other things. I’m also seeing a therapist. And I am extremely nervous about starting classes again. Does anyone else also feels extremely lonely when being surrounded by people? 🤔 - ¡Ha llegado el día! ¡Por fin nos mudamos, yay! 👏🏻🎉🎊👏🏻 Aunque la mayoría de las cosas de Seth estaban ya aquí y me he llevado las últimas dos semanas comprando muebles y decorando, mis cosas estaban aún en mi antiguo apartamento, en el campus de mi antigua universidad. Tuve que pedir un traslado a Foxbury porque… estuve envuelta en un escándalo con un miembro docente de la facultad. Aunque él hubiese estado con otras estudiantes (sin mi conocimiento), llevábamos varios años envueltos en lo que yo creía una relación romántica, que empezó cuando yo aún era menor de edad. Así que, si, es normal que a Seth se le fuese la olla cuando se descubrió todo el pastel. Gracias a Dios, todos estos años en el ring le han enseñado a conservar la calma incluso cuando todos sus instintos le dicen de matar a quien tiene enfrente. Creo que lo estoy sobrellevando bastante bien, haciendo un balance perfecto de negacion, supresión de memorias y o sentimientos que afloran, alcohol y poniendo mi atención en otras cosas. 😬 También estoy yendo a terapia. Xian’s Story - Chapter 2 4/8 (Pierce’s POV) I don’t know what’s gotten into everyone this evening. Why do they have to stick their noses into my business? Even Xian doesn’t know what I do with my time these days, but who can blame me for that? She does not tell me everything either and I know something has been going on since July. She is back in her shell, she overthinks every word she says to me and keeps her emotions locked in, which is killing me. Something has happened, something that she is not telling me. And, frankly, I’m getting tired of proving myself worthy of her trust. She does not want to tell me? Fine, I can live with that. I can be the patient guy. Xian’s Story - Chapter 2 1/8 (Miko’s POV) When I escaped from that foster house and I lost Xian in the process, I fully intended to make I life for myself so I could get back and take her away with me. I thought life in the city would be easier, but I have never been so wrong. Because I was only 16 at the time and I was a minor without a legal guardian, finding a stable job was impossible, as I always feared someone would tell on me and I ended back in the system. So I ended up living in the streets, eating from dumpsters, sleeping on abandoned buildings, trying to stay awake to chase the nightmares away. The first time I was assaulted, I lied on the floor like a broken doll for many hours, wishing I was dead so at least the pain went away. That’s when he found me. Parker Jones, the “Pacman”. He is another misfit, another product of the city like me. A lowlife, dealer, pimp and junkie. He prays on girls like me, dangling heroin in front of us like a lifesaver, promising an infinite high that takes all the heartache away, that numbs you out. And I fell for it. I fell so hard. I didn’t want to feel anything anymore, so I went down the rabbit hole with him. But any kind of relationship with Pac comes with strings attached. Drugs aren’t free and I had to earn my keep. I deal for him, I lie for him and I sleep with anyone he tells me to, just to keep riding that white horse that keeps me high, without a care in the world. He treats me like shit most of the time, because most of the time I don’t care, I don’t feel anything. I’m the puppet and he holds all the strings. When I turned 18 last year, I started searching for Xian again. Along the way I learned that the piece of shit we had for foster dad is in jail for sexual assault and murder and that the agency that placed us had shut down. During a year and a half I searched and searched until I finally found her. To my surprise, she does not need rescuing anymore. Interlude - The Beach (Xian’s POV) 4/4 He did it again, he moved me. See, Pierce has this kind of subtlety: he acts like he does not care, he does not feel, he is against the world, but then he is not ashamed of saying what he thinks or feels. I have seen him around the worst crowds you can get in Brindleton Bay, but no one speaks against him or dares to mock him. I think Evie is the eldest, but Alexis has much more poise than her, so she looks a little bit more mature. They did not see me the first time I went to the Delgato’s house, as it was late and a school night and they were already sleeping. However, the next day I think Ms Delgato made a comment about my headache and they pestered Pierce for over a week until I accepted his invitation and went to have dinner with all of them. I cannot help but think how different they are from me and Miko at that age. They are truly having a wonderful childhood and you can see they are loved by all the adults around them. They are confident and outspoken little misses, and they make me laugh very often, just as if there was a competition between them. Summer is almost here and I think I have compromised almost all my free time to them, which Pierce thinks it’s hilarious (I am quite sure that he is convinced that he will not have to fight them to have me to himself). He knows I have to work on the souvenir store full time now, as I need to save for cooking school, so my time is limited. Back to Evie and Alexis, I cannot help but feel protective towards them. I do not fool myself thinking that they are my sisters, but it really feels like that lately. Yesterday I couldn’t stop myself and I told them how much I loved them, even though after 6 months of dating I have not had the courage to say that to my own boyfriend. Xian’s Story - Interlude (From her perspective) Yesterday I went to the Delgato’s house to do some homework with Pierce and Ms Delgato (or as she wants me to call her, Susan) handed me over this picture framed, from last weekend’s barbecue. She did it nonchalantly and gave me a hug when she saw that I was about to cry. S: Sweetie, it’s OK. I just wanted you to have this as a reminder. You are welcomed here anytime. We can be your family as long as you want. Even if you do not want to date the thug I have for a son. P: I can hear you, you know? S: Shush. She gives me another warm hug and we stay like this for another few minutes. I can see from the corner of my eye that Pierce has left after he took the frame gently from my hands. He is always so gentle around me. I can get addicted to this. I finally feel that I am able to talk without fearing that I will start sobbing in the middle of the sentence. X: Ms Delgato... S: Susan. X: Susan, thank you so much. Thanks for keeping inviting me. Thanks for the photo, thanks for... (She caresses my cheek as only a mom would do, or so I suppose. I wanted to bring Pierce to meet her, but I think that he is going out with Brandon and his other friends. It worries me that he is still hanging out with them, but I have never said anything for the past six months since we started dating. X: I have plans. I can hear the twins coming down. They sound like a herd of horses. Evie is the first, followed by Alexis. She almost tackle me when she sees me. E: Xian! What are you doing here? Come on up! X: Ok, ok. Xian’s Story - Chapter 1 (End) P: Ok, get up. (He takes Xian’s backpack and he holds it open waiting for her to put all her stuff back in) X: What? P: I am taking you to my house. First, we will eat a nice dinner, probably -my dad has been doing the cooking lately-.Then, you will take whatever my mom thinks you can take for that headache and finally I will help you study. (He realises that she has stopped packing and she is looking at him in a weird way) What? X: I did not picture you for a family sort of guy. Or the study type. P: Is it the tattoos? I feel like it is the tattoos. (Xian starts laughing again and he seems proud of that) Shut up, I have excellent grades and I love my family. I only have bad taste in friends. Xian does not answer to that and gets up, extending her arm to recover her backpack. But Pierce has another idea in mind and takes the opportunity of holding her hand. It feels nice, even though he feels like she wants to break off the contact because of embarrassment. She is all blushed. Taking pity of her, he lets go of her hand. “Baby steps” he thinks. P: Don’t get your hopes up. This is not our first date. We will see if we have one once you nail that test tomorrow. X: Erh... P: Just be aware that if you fail, I will feel too embarrassed to go out with you. (Xian hits him playfully) What? I have standards. X (Laughing again): Oh, shut up. And stop looking at me like that. Xian’s Story - Chapter 1 (Beach Party Memories) Brandon falls on the floor and covers his face, as if he expected Pierce to continue the fight. Like all other guys like him, he likes to prey the weak, but he is a coward with people that can surpass him. He stands up. B: This is not the end. P: Just go home, Brandon. He picks up the keys of his truck from the floor and he runs away. Since Pierce came to the party with him, he has just lost his ride home. He sighs and looks at Xian, who is still crying. P: Are you OK? He did not hurt you, right? X: N-no... (she has the hiccups, but maybe because of the alcohol) P: And he will never have the chance to do so, trust me. I will make sure of it. Xian uncovers her face and looks at him for a long while, until Pierce becomes uncomfortable and nervous, as he is been feeling since the first time he laid eyes on her two weeks ago. The moment she arrived to his class was etched in his mind and he knows he will never forget it. Not wanting to unnecessarily touch her after her recent experience, he approaches her and attempts a comfort gesture around her shoulders, but the moment she stiffens he puts his arm down. P: Sorry, I didn’t mean to... Do you want me to walk you home? X: Yes, please. P: (He looks around to the parking lot) Give me your keys, you are in no condition to driv... (He stops when he hears Xian’s laugh) What? X: It’s so sweet that you think I can afford a car. My bike is there. P: You cannot drive a bike either. I’m scared that you will run off a cliff.
