My ASEAN Explorer Camp in Jakarta, Indonesia Experience:
I made new friends, explored a new country, learned new lessons, and I’m forever grateful for it.
As I was still digesting everything that happened last 16-18th of July, one thing crossed my mind- My ASEAN Explorer Camp in Jakarta, Indonesia is Amazing! It was A(plus)-kay!!
Let’s talk about it one by one, piece by piece, so grab a drink and relax. Let me start of the day before my flight, It was a very busy day for me since I have a lot of agenda. I have my accounting class from 8:00-2:00PM then after that, our whole clan will celebrate the wedding anniversary of our beloved great grandfather and great grandmother, then I have to attend my best friend’s debut at 7:00PM onwards, then went home at 11:00 PM to pack my baggage and went to the airport at 2:00 in the midnight for my auntie’s departure, and so is my flight. I know, I get it, I’m so busy? Yeah, but I enjoyed every single agenda that I have before my flight.
It was my first solo flight and in contrary, I was not afraid. I enjoyed it. I love the view in the airport and the fluffy clouds. It is my kind of aesthetic.
Some people thought I was Indonesian and talked to me in their native language. I agree, Indonesian looks like a Filipino. Jakarta looks like Manila, too! I From that moment, I feel like I’m home. A home far away from home. I’m used to this, when I am in Malaysia for a stop over, Airport personnels thought I’m Malaysian and when me and my family went to Hong Kong, they thought I am from Hong Kong and talked to me in Cantonese. Am I a representative of another country, as well? Haha.
The flight may be long, but it was worth it, especially when we finally arrived at Jakarta. Thank you Ms. PA for waiting for us and accompanying us to the hotel.
When we arrived at the hotel, I finally saw Prisca and Ate Hershel. We were so excited and hugged each other. After that, we went for an ample rest. Not to mention that the hotel is instagram worthy, especially the walls inside the rooms, and so, me and my roommate, Ate Amae went for an instagram photo during our last stay in the hotel.
Add more, the sky garden which made my city heart more happy.
We went outside to eat dinner, we tried local Indonesian food. I hate spicy food, but it tastes good!
Second day:This the highlight, we meet our fellow Indonesian Field Reporters, have some time to know each other and conducted an interview with them. I teamed up with the very smart and pretty, Niswah, together with Ms. Pham to supervise us. Thank you for your patience, Ms. Pham. The interview is fun and challenging. We got rejected and accepted by some businesses in Indonesia, but the experience is worth it. We learned how to approach people, interview them face to face and even learn from their personal experiences. When one business closed its door, expect that another door will be opened, better and bigger.
We conducted 3 interviews around Jakarta. The first interview is about a family business whom the late Father is the founder. The business is still on its operations until today, despite the death of the founder. It just shows that a business can continue in its operation no matter what. As of today, the business is managed by the Late Founder’s children.
The second interview is a Cafe. The cafe is inspiring to be international, and as a matter of fact, they have an employee who traveled all the way to Australia to study.
The third interview focuses on the steps and struggles of how he became an HR in his company. He said that it was not easy and it is indeed full of struggles, but as you analyze it, it is his struggles that made him who he is today.
The interview is challenging and fun despite of the sunny weather that day, but it broadened my idea on how business operates and how people work in a company.
(Also see: https://www.instagram.com/p/BXNeJt3jYqI/?taken-by=clarysjourney )
After the interview, we went to ASEAN Foundation. We met the people behind it and learned from their projects. We also received our certificates. This talk encouraged me to broaden my horizon and empower the whole ASEAN community.
After the said talk, we went inside the ASEAN Foundation room again to report about what happened during our interviews. This is my favorite part, since I learned from other experiences, if I can vote for every team, I will.
After that, we went to Grand Indonesia Shopping centre for dinner. This is also a time where we talked about each and every one’s interest.
The announcement of the winner for reporting our experiences finally came, Thank you everyone! Hardworks really pay off. We did it!!
Though it’s hard to say goodbye, we don’t have any choice, but to say it. Our fellow Field Reporters from Jakarta has to leave. We enjoyed their presence and hospitality.
After saying goodbye to our fellow Field Reporters, we went to another mall and just explored it.
Third day: This is the last and heartbreaking day of the camp. Last breakfast together. Last face to face talks. Last day. It’s time to leave.
It was a heartfelt opportunity to meet Mrs. Ingrid from Lestari Sayang Anak. I might not be able to finish her whole story, but right from the start, I saw her heart for her orphanage. Mrs. Ingrid may not have any child, but she has a family fueled by love, compassion, and goodness.
Me and the Cambodian guys, Songg, Piseth, and Nara went straight to the airport after the breakfast. Thank you for talking in your native language when I was with you guys, I understand every word, but thank you.
It’s time to go back to my country, but the lessons and memories will forever bloom. I didn’t not say goodbye, but instead, see you soon!
Jakarta. 3 days. 6 countries. 1 Amazing Team. Countless smiles.
Being a Field Reporter helped me to explore, not only in the sense of setting foot to another country, but on relationships, career, and life.
In another country: You need to go out of your own land to see the world or one side of the world. One side of another country may look like home, and the other one may not look like one, but enjoy it. It’s once in a lifetime opportunity. Try their local foods, eventhough it’s spicy. Grab a little or more. Be friends with locals. Explore the place.
On relationships: Be friendly as you can, though it’s hard, open yourself to others. Let them know you. Let them learn from you and learn from them. Know their backgrounds, cultures, and even how their names are organized.
On career: There’s a lot of struggles that you’ll face. One door may be closed, but take heart, another door will be opened. If you got rejected, walk or run, look around and you’ll find good doors reserved only for you.
Have a heart for other causes. Empower your country, empower the whole ASEAN community, and hopefully, the world. Help the abandoned and treat them as your family.
On life: Step, no matter how big and small. Leap, if you can, but as you advance, never forget those people who made you smile.
Maraming Salamat, Mr. Teoh, Ate Hershel, Ate Amae, Niswah and the whole A-team. See you soon :)

Happiness.
So what makes you happy?
Is it achieving something so big, one cannot fathom?
Or is it something lot of people take for granted?
So what makes you happy?
For me,
My blanket that is equivalent to warm hug,
mason jar that keeps me hydrated, and oh,
Don’t forget the juice, tea or coffee.
My highlighters that give colors to life’s valuable lessons,
Bed where I can sleep and meet peace,
DIY polaroid camera that reminds me of my happiness,
A book who became my adviser,
And the sun that rise.
You see, life is all about appreciating the little things.
Look around,
You’re blessed.
Cheers!

So how are YOU? (Pouring my heart out pt. 2)
A week has passed, and so how are you?
Yes, YOU!
If you’re going to ask me that question, I would be honest as bold to answer it. I’m doing good. I am, really. Did you read my previous post “Pouring our mt heart part 1″ ( http://clarysjourney.tumblr.com/post/163530231036/pouring-my-heart-out-part-1 ) ? If yes, then you probably know why.
This week is something new, as I want to call it. It felt like New Year, where sometimes, we are fooled that it is another journey, when it is actually just the continuation of our journey. Everything felt like peace.
Instead of me having worries when I check my day to day schedule or to-do-list, this week, Peace and motivation surrounded me. No matter how my schedule looks like heavy or loaded, I didn’t regret any or become lazy and unmotivated. I was so motivated and excited to start it and finish it, it felt like motivation is fueling me to do something.
It was also the week where classes are suspended due to storm, so instead of having 5 days of classes, I only got 2. What did I do with the class suspension? As I said before, motivation is fueling me up, so I picked up all the mess and failures I had and make it something great. I failed on my accounting class quizzes, and so, I reviewed them again and advanced my readings.
I get up, tie my hair, and start.
At the end of the storm in my country and in my life, I received something great. A tour around Manila Ocean Park with my family and family friends. Water, water, obviously, since it’s Ocean park.
I enjoyed it, getting back here after 5 years is amazing. I went here when I was elementary and during that time, The park is just starting. So going here again made me happy to see how change is beautiful.
I wish to do a separate blog about Manila Ocean Park (with the “Fast” walk in Rizal Park and Toy Museum) soon.
It’s just amazing how travel or exploring makes me so so happy.
Not only I was fueled up by motivations from my failures, I was also motivated by a dream. The dream when I was sleeping, this dream is like a reality.
I was chasing something and resorted to peace.
I woke up with a smile in my heart.
Something sweet, extraordinary, but in contrary, this one did not come from having the so called dreams of dreams where everything is perfect, but rather, it is from taking a leap out of the comfort zone.
This motivation + dream is a perfect solution that I used to fight again and am forever grateful to discover this.
How about you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would be posting more “Pouring my heart out” blog categories, but with a twist, instead of doing this weekly, I would do it as my heart wants it to. Daily, Weekly, or whatever, I just want to make this category personal and inspiring, at the same time.
Hope you are all doing great!
Sincerely,
Fighting lady

Pouring my heart out (PART 1)
I want make this post personal, fresh from the heart. Opening myself to anyone, especially in the public is a rare thing for me to do, but here am I writing this at 12:29 AM. Bear with me in this process, this is going to be long and tough.
Last 4 weeks is a hard time for me, and let me tell you where, when, how and what it started.
So it started out in a single thing, single moment that truly affects my following days, even weeks. It was during midnight when I was trying to solve all the remaining problems that I need to solve in my Accounting class, my major class. Please don’t get me wrong here. I reviewed the 3 chapters (3 chapters assigned for our discussion together with readings associated with this chapters, readings, but more like problem solving) very well, I must say. I am well prepared and even did my own reviewers. I understand every single concept and I already memorized it. As you can say, I’m ready, but one thing crashed all my hard works- panic attacks.
“Anxiety attacks can feel very much like a heart attack — complete with chest pain, shortness of breath, sweating, and a racing heart.”
2 words, a disaster. I was confident enough to solve all the problems, but it exists suddenly and that made me stop and take a power nap, but who can sleep with such a pain like this? As a result, I was awake until the time I needed to get out of the bed and get ready for school. Getting out of the bed? It was not easy, I need to pull myself out and motivate myself to keep moving for I believe this will combat my panic attack, but I was wrong. As a result, I just feed them until my class. My professor asked me simply because we always have a recitation, but I cannot answer clearly or right because I am still having a panic attack and had 0 sleep. Mental block, my friend. It was my first time not to recite properly and correctly in my financial accounting class, and this one, it kinda hurt for I can see that my professor is disappointed. And because I cannot remember anything from what I’ve reviewed, I got a low grade from my quiz on that day, as well. What is happening?
I try to be positive and tell myself it’s fine, you only need rest, but panic attacks said no. It’s always there, getting all my energy and hours to be productive and enjoy. So I’m either asleep because I’m tired or having panic attacks and cannot move properly and again, I failed on my quiz in accounting until the third week, and the rest is the history of panic attacks and burn out.
Third week came and it was a busy week. Deadlines, death of our beloved great grandfather and everything. I promised and convinced myself to act normal, even if my heart is beating fast, experiencing short breaths, and shaking. In the end, it still didn’t work out, no matter how hard I tried so again, I failed in my accounting quiz, but I took it less since I know after this, I still have lots of agendas. Wanna know my schedule during this day? 7:00-2:00PM Accounting class, 3:00-5:00PM visit to cemetery to celebrate the wedding anniversary of our beloved great grandfather and great grandmother. 7:00-10:00 debut of my bestfriend, 11:00 onwards packing for I have a flight to Indonesia for ASEAN Explorer Camp to represent the Philippines. We need to leave at 2:00 in the midnight for my aunt has an early flight, same day as mine. So I arrived in Jakarta after panicking if my family will not let me go because of changing of minds that only caused me nothing but worries.
My stay in Jakarta is heaven, The moment I went to the plane, I felt peace, suddenly my panic attacks and all worries disappeared. I finally caught peace and ample sleep after 3 exhausting weeks, but with freedom comes responsibility. Responsibility to still study for I know the moment I came back to the Philippines, it’s our exam week, so me being a good student and daughter, brought my very thick Accounting book. It was a pain in the back, because it was heavy, but I got some time to review while I’m in Malaysia for in transit or during free times.
Our CEO, Mr. Teoh asked me if I’m tired and I honestly said “Yes!”. Not because of flight, but because of the past weeks. I did look tired too so I need to catch some sleep and say goodbye to my fellows in the camp while they are spending the night playing unos. I need sleep for tomorrow is the camp’s big and long day and indeed it is. On contrary to the belief that big and long day is exhausting, my second day in Jakarta/in the camp feels home. We got to know some of the Field Reporter based in Jakarta, interview Indonesian SMEs, try McDo in Indonesia, visit to ASEAN Foundation and have some fun.
I am so happy to meet individuals who are beautiful inside and out, has the potential, and very kind. If you are one of my fellow in the camp, endless thank you to you. You truly made my week bright.
Third day of the camp is the end of the camp, we need to go back to our respective countries. I don’t want to leave for leaving the camp and Jakarta felt and means like living peace and happiness, but I need to. Fast forward on my arrival in the midnight, I was computing how many hours of sleep will I get since my parents wanted to eat somewhere and I don’t want to say no. I rather lose sleep than lose time with them.
So during that day as well(my arrival back in the Philippines) is my exam day in Philosophy and I haven’t scanned my reviewers since I am busy reviewing accounting. Thanks for the 1 hour before my exams, I got to review for my Philosophy exams and I am confident enough to answer the exams. Thank God! But it didn’t stop there, communications exams tomorrow, earth science exam (the only 1 hour review worked for communications, the “I’m so lazy to study, I’ll just sleep and review when I want to” worked for earth science, not because of my strength, but by His grace!) after and then there’s my accounting-quiz and exam.
I got some time to review accounting, but again, panic attacks kicked in. I was only able to review theories, but not computations. As a result, I got a hard time in quiz and exams itself. Exams don’t have any choices, no solutions needed, meaning no consideration for even one correct entry, 2 hours, panic attack, no sleep. What a great combination! The exam is hard, almost every one of us in the class, or should I say all had a hard time answering it.
So I was feeling down again, questioning if I even have worth? And the cycle continues.
But here am I now, 4th week and I’m doing my best (still) to live out the life I wanted. I want to tell you about it, but I am still not ready to spill anything. Please come back after a week and you’ll know.
Let me tell you this, we all have our tough times, but tough times is what made us tough. If you are in this phase right now, hold on, hon. We got this!
If you need some help or even someone to talk to, please know that I am here. My social media accounts and mail is here for you. Let’s grab a tea!
PS: Sorry if my writing structure is not that clear. As much as I want to fix it, I try not to for this is what my heart is actually telling. I’ll promise to make the second part clear.
all the love,
clary

Papi’s cafe (2 in 1 cafe)
If you’re craving for Nutella, then papi’s café is the perfect place! Not only that, they offer Nutella, they gave it a twist. Nutella milkshakes and donuts, anyone? I know, I know, it makes you hungry. It made me hungry too while writing this.
Last Thursday, me and my friends decided to go to papi’s café to celebrate the last day of our semester and try on their Nutella milkshake and donuts, however, Nutella donuts were not available by the time we came (but we definitely need to go back and try those). Below is the menu.
Papi’s café is not just a café, it is a place where offers 2 places, a café where you can sip a coffee and a shopping place. Yes, you heard it right! The place has a lot of products that you may often see online. Clothes, make up, shoes, to name a few! This is the perfect spot if you love shopping and cafes.
Their Nutella milkshakes are so good, it is definitely worth the price! We also tried their pastries. Chocolate revel bar and cookie dough. It was delicious! We love it! We missed the Nutella doughnuts, but these two tastes like heaven. My friend ordered an espresso, this is perfect if you’re going to be an all nighter. So strong and I like the scent.
What I also love about the place is their accommodating staffs. Ate (the lady) in the counter was so friendly and will assist you if you need help. She also tells you what is the coffee or the pastry is made of. She will even ask to take pictures of you and your friends. Amazing, huh?
The place is located at Malolos Bayan. It is one little jeepney (where we call ‘Karatig’) away from the Robinsons Malolos or crossing. Just look at their board sign and find ‘Malolos Bayan’, ask the driver to drop you to a church (aside from Barasoain) that is located in Malolos Bayan. The driver will drop you off at the front of the church and look right and find Angels’ Burger stall, go there and you’ll see from there the sign that says “Papi’s”. Now, enjoy!

Dreamy “Unicorn” cafe (Affordable cafe!)
Last Tuesday, me and my friend decided to go to ‘Dreamy “Unicorn” Café’ located in Malolos, Bulacan.
youtube
(The directory (back and forth) will be posted below, I gotchu! )
The day when we went there, the café was not yet ready. The owner told us that they were not yet suppose to open, but due to people from different places coming in, they decided to open it a week advance. Since they are not yet ready, the aircon in the second floor only started working an hour before we leave.
The café is a 2-storey house, pastel colors! When you go down to the street, you will see a structure that is pastel themed. Take note, that they still don’t have signage so if you see a pastel colored house, that’s it! The café opens at 11 AM until 7 PM.
Below is the menu of the café, their prices are okay. I highly suggest that you try their milkshakes. My favorite is the strawberry milkshake. It is made from real strawberries, guys. Also, I love where they put the milkshake. Their pasta serving size is okay with its price.
What we love most about this café is their onesies!!! If your bill reached P 250.00, you can borrow one onesie. They have additional charges for onesies, P 100 each.
They also sell onesies for 1,800 something and other products like unicorn slippers for P 1,199, face masks, anime inspired shirts, jackets, and stuffs, fake eyelashes and stockings. The proceeds will go to their charity fund to help less fortunate children and animals in our country. You may visit their Facebook page for more details- https://www.facebook.com/dreamycafeph/ Below are the photos.
The café is not spacious as you think it is, but the theme of the café is pleasing and I must say, heaven! The second floor is the best spot in the cafe. It is filled, of course, with unicorns! Stuff toys, keychains, and toys. Take time to hug those unicorn stuff toys! If you like to take selfies, go ahead and enjoy the lightning! What I also love about the café is their interior design. Simple, but pleasing to the eyes. Super duper cute! Love the pastel colors!
Time to be a unicorn and to ride in a unicorn!!

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

His last breath gave me life
His last breath gave me eternal life.
I believe that this is not the time to repent, but I believe that everyday is an acceptable day to repent. Repent, then go walk in His way, no matter what it takes, no matter how deceiving the world is, and no matter how beautiful it is to get the worldly possessions. I wrote this not because it’s Holy week, I thank the Holy spirit for guiding me to write this, and now it’s here, I know that the Lord will touch everyone’s heart, but I hope we will open it fully, and let Him drive the wheel of our life.
Most of the time we stumble, even those we look at spiritual warriors, However we must still go on. It’s hard, I know and I felt that too, especially when the world is offering everything you want, but the sacrifices we offered, and the pain we continue to feel is nothing compared after this life (if we will walk humbly with God til’ the end). I know the feeling of having a guilt in your heart, it makes you away from His presence. It’s hard to go back because of the guilt, but it’s harder to walk alone. As a famous song we know, He’’s only a ONE CALL AWAY. HE is not limited, HE IS LIMITLESS
I don’t know how to finish this one, but However, I hope you get what I’m pointing here. May we reflect and may the wounds He endured, will not be meaningless. I want to end this one with this prayer, and if you’re not yet ready to do this (WHOLEHEARTEDLY), go and take time. It’s better to take time than to recite this prayer without heart, but I hope taking that time will not be long to the extent that you lose your life.
"Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
We were set to face the consequences of our sin which is eternal death, but JESUS CAME AND SET US FREE.
By HIS wounds, we are healed. Thank you from the bottom of my heart<3
