Winter is here, Stay hydrated.
Winter is coming! No, you don’t need to worry about fighting off scary white walkers, rather you should be worried that you don’t become one. The cold, harsh winds, devoid of any moisture, may leave your skin parched and your body dehydrated.
Dehydration during winter? Now, that may sound funny and illogical, right? It may not make any sense to you but the scientific theory suggests otherwise. As per some studies, body fluid losses during winter can be as high as that in summers due to high energy expenditure, increased losses in urine. On the other hand, as the temperature drops, we don’t feel as thirsty as we do during summers, causing us to drink less water.
As per one study, the average man needs to consume 3.6 liters of water daily, failing to do which could wreak havoc on one’s system, causing fatigue, muscle cramps, and dizziness.
So, if you don’t intend to scare off people this winter then you must pay heed (try to implement them too) to the following tips discussed that will help you keep dehydration at bay.
#1 Leverage reminder apps
It’s no secret that technology has come a long way. There are a myriad of applications available out there that help us accomplish our everyday routine tasks with ease and convenience that was never possible before. So, why not leverage such applications to accomplish our water consumption goals as well. There are a ton of applications which have been built with the sole purpose of reminding you to drink water at regular intervals. These applications would come in handy if you run too busy and forget to follow up on a glass of water quite often.
#2 Avoid consuming diuretics
It’s highly likely that you might have come across this word- diuretic- already but don’t exactly know what it means. So, let me start with explaining what diuretics are. Simply put, diuretics are substances that reduce the amount of water in your body. Caffeinated beverages and alcohol are some of the examples of natural diuretics. When your body is low on water, consuming diuretics is a bad idea, perhaps a recipe for disaster. Since they are known to be highly addictive, it is quite possible that we may reach out for a cup of coffee or tea to quench our thirst. It may fix your thirst temporarily, however, it does more harm than good and can never be substituted for a glass of water.
#3 Eat hydrating foods
Consuming seasonal fruits and vegetables that have high water content is a great way to sneak in more water into your body and keep it hydrated. You could either consume these fruits and vegetables as is or you could pop them in with other ingredients to make some fresh juice, a salad, a lip smacking smoothie or hot piping soup for yourself.
#4 Stay away from fried and processed foods
Processed foods are generally loaded with a lot of sodium in order to extend the shelf life of the product. You might have observed that you feel thirsty after you’ve had a bag of chips or a pack of cookies. Have you ever wondered why is it so? Well, the majority of processed foods aren’t wholesome and lack vital nutrients needed by the body. These foods are slapped with loads of sodium, sugar, and fats. And sodium, in particular, tends to suck out all the water from tissues, leaving the body severely dehydrated. So, if you feel groggy even after gulping down enough water then you might as well have to slow down on your consumption of processed foods.
Winter dehydration is as real as it could get and you shouldn’t brush it off as something that cannot affect you. You’re as susceptible to it as any other person no matter how big or strong you are. I guess, now you know why we’ve been calling to save up water… Because it saves us from the brunt of cold, harsh winters.
That’s it from our side this week.
Hope to see you in the next blog.
Until next time,
Hydrate and Chill.

Not only is it important to the Hindu community, but it is of substantial significance to other religions as well. The auspicious day marks the concurrence of several historical events across different centuries. For example, the Pandavas returned to Hastinapur after being in exile for 12 years. As per the Jain scriptures, Lord Mahavira, the 24th tirthankara, attained nirvana on this day. Psst! Sweets can be healthy too
The festive season has arrived.
OR
Should we say it has been there already? Because the festive spirit in India doesn’t have downtime.
Thanks to its diverse culture, the country celebrates different festivals round the year, which keeps the festive spirit up and roaring.
And if there is one thing synonymous with festivals, it is none other than sweets.
We think of festivals and we can’t keep our calm to lay our hands on our favourite sweets.
But, all this excitement comes along with a caveat !
Along with excitement comes fear too! Well, you may or may not admit it, but we all feel this fear.
The rattling fear of adding those extra kgs around your belly that you have worked so hard to maintain.
Well, one option to eliminate this fear from your heart is to quit sweets completely.
Sounds unrealistic, doesn’t it? Well, it is. How many people will you say not to? How will you say no to your grandparents?
How will you say no to this gullible heart that gets swayed away by every sweet thing out there?
The truth is YOU CAN’T. And even if you can, YOU SHOULDN’T
The sweet taste is one the six tastes discussed at length in the prominent ayurvedic texts, and has been accorded the highest rank among all.
The benefits of sweet taste are countless!
When consumed in moderate amounts, it nourishes and enhances your immunity and improves life longevity.
So, cheer up guys, you’ve got Ayurveda supporting your sweet indulgence.
I know, I know, you are still worried about those calories, aren’t you?
Well, truth be told, you will have to keep a check on your consumption and ensure you break a sweat in the gym to stay in shape.
On top of that, a small change in the way you prepare your sweets could bump the health factor a notch higher.
What’s that?
To replace your normal sugar with the sulphur free one in all your sugary preps.
You would be wondering why would you do that?
For starters, raw sugar straight out of the mill is full of contaminants and impurities.
It needs to be cleaned first for it to be palatable. And it seems sulphur is every manufacturer’s favourite for this very purpose.
Although sulphur is the favourite kid on the block, it’s notorious too. Sulphur and asthmatic people are arch enemies.
Also, the byproducts of sulphur formed during the process aren’t environmentally friendly.
Now, you can see for yourself how bad sulphur’s company could be.
Sulphur free sugar, on the other hand, is cleaned using phosphorus and its derivatives, which makes it a healthier alternative and environment friendly too.
So, get yourself sulphur free sugar and ward off your health worries once and for all.
And to save you some hassle, we have the right sugar for you in store.
