““Books, my dear,” Ferus replied. “Books.” Bridget blinked once. “Books do not have souls, sir.” “Those who write them do,” Ferus said. “They leave bits and pieces behind them when they lay down the words, some scraps and smears of their essential nature.” He sniffed. “Most untidy really. But assemble enough scraps and one might have something approaching a whole.” “You believe that the library has a soul?” Bridget said carefully. “I do not believe it, young lady,” Ferus said rather stiffly. “I know it.””
— Bridget Tagwynn and Ferus in The Aeronaut’s Windlass by Jim Butcher

The old school lack of transparency on tumblr is amazing because you assume the people you follow must all be equivalent to you and then you see someone write “I brought my youngest to college today” and someone else write “my mom wouldn’t let me listen to Ariana Grande when I was a kid” and then your head explodes

Y’all I am a fucking idiot who didn’t put the dots together, until now. The reason that Buck gets boils is because he took the ibuprofen.
In one episode we see Bobby telling the doctors that Buck is alllergic to Naxopren (I think I spelled that right) which is a Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drug (NSAID). Ibuprofen is also an NSAID.
Allergic reactions to Ibuprofen can include rash, hives, and blisters. Buck was literally just allergic to his meds y’all. This all could’ve been sorted if Tommy knew about his allergy or if Buck remembered his allergy.

foreshadowing done well makes me go feral like there’s NOTHING better than getting to the end a book or an important storyline moment and realising that the author laced information so intricately into their writing that weren’t noticeable upon first read but when you read back sections they’re light giant red flags like wow writing is amazing

the thing is, and this is important to understand, that buck is an absolute romantic. he wants the swooning love story. he wants his happily ever after. the forever kind of deal.
so of course he listened to josh’s speech about happiness and companionship and work and love and decide to ask his boyfriend to move in with him and take it to the next step. of course in his question to him he also mentioned an engagement and a wedding despite the fact that he couldn’t even tell maddie and josh that he loved tommy.
asking tommy to move in with him wasn’t about where his relationship with tommy really was or even where it could go. it was about buck’s need to belong to someone. his desire for someone to belong to him.
this coupled with buck’s tendency to overcompensate when he 1) feels like something is going wrong in his romantic relationship, 2) feels like he did something unfair or wrong towards his partner, put in him in his automatic response of throwing himself all in without considering if that is really what he wants.
he couldn’t say he loved tommy and yet he asked him to move in with him and talked about marriage.
buck needs to reckon with what it is that he really wants in his life and in a relationship. buck needs to reckon with who he wants to share his life and be in a relationship with.
and when he finally realizes it’s eddie and will always be eddie… well, his happily ever after is going to be the most satisfying thing for him and for us.
