Headcanons: Joker's state of mind/important stuff

(( Okay. Time to get serious for a moment.

This is a post to let you know that my muse is, in all honestly, clinically insane and prone to self-harming bouts. Joker is not okay by any stretch of definition.

He is manic-depressive, and when he's up he's up, but when he's down, he will not fucking smile for anything. He'll even make other people cry with how damn negative he is. He'll avoid kids. He'll refuse to do anything until he can smile again.

He also hallucinates that dead children are around him, and occasionally he'll just stop and scream unintelligibly, or complain the food and drink "tastes like dead children". And yeah, that last part sounds funny, but he means it. He'll curl up and cry and if anyone tries to touch him, he'll yell at them to leave him alone, because dead kids are bad enough, and then he'll rock back and forth while crying.

If you leave Joker alone when he's "down" or hallucinating, he will hurt himself. Frequently. Aggressively. Sometimes he does that when he's "up", too, just for the hell of it. He believes that he deserves to feel pain. It's a sort of atonement process. Hence, he has a lot of scars, fresh and old, pretty much everywhere.

He likes to drink when he's depressed, and he's an aggressive, violent, even sexually abusive drunk.

You've been warned about the kind of person you're dealing with. ))
