Summary:

It's been a month since the Cavalry Captain went missing on a mission. It's been three years and a month since Diluc Ragnvindr has been home.

Or, an AU where Kaeya went missing before the events of the game, so he wasn't there when the Traveler showed up. The Stormterror issue is resolved - but only up until the three temples, not the part where you help Stormterror from being influenced by the Abyss - and Diluc decides to show up a little later than he was supposed to.

The bulletin boards within the City of Mondstadt are filled with two missing posters. The two are not related, but the sight of these posters send a shiver down the spines of any who saw them.

It wasn’t common. Missing posters. Even with the increase of hilichurls, there is rarely a missing person case. Most people have the speed to run off, and the hilichurls can only chase you so far. And for the unfortunate ones who don’t have time to run, they’re usually saved by the knights of Favonius, and recently, by the Honorary Knight themselves. To have two missing cases was unheard of, though it does bring the people a slight relief that one of the missing people is not someone from the city of Mondstadt. Oh no, it is instead the Honorary Knight's missing sibling.

But… the second missing poster was worse. Everyone knew the face plastered on those papers.

Hair tied into a ponytail that reaches to his waist. A single light blue streak that disrupts the solid blue of his hair. Black eyepatch. Ridiculous fur lined cape. A Cryo Vision hanging by his belt.

The Acting Grand Master was hesitant to announce it as a lost cause. After all, he had only been missing for a month… What's one more? Or two? Surely they’d find him by then. Yet, with each passing day, the Knights of Favonius continue to come up empty handed. The Captain was missing, and there was nothing they could do to find him. Not even the Honorary Knight, assigned by the Acting Grand Master herself, could find any trace of the missing man. It was as though he’d disappeared into the mountains, and maybe he had. Maybe he’d finally run away.

There were rumors like that. In the streets. In houses. In Good Hunter and Cat’s Tail. Some would like to imagine that the Cavalry Captain eloped with some lover and ran off to another nation. Some would like to think he took an early retirement and moved to Liyue or Springvale.

There were darker rumors of course, only whispered by those who couldn’t believe the Cavalry Captain would simply leave his post or by those who didn’t care for him at all. Some said he was probably dead in a ditch somewhere, as he did go missing on a mission. Some whisper that he might have been captured, and might be experiencing horrible torture at the hands of his captives. Some claim he was a spy… of Snezhnaya, that he was part of the Fatui or worse, a Harbinger himself. Rarely anyone believes this though. Most think he’d finally fallen into his horrible habit of drinking and had wandered off into the wilderness, lost in his drunken stupor.

Of course, all the rumors never reach Angel’s Share. Even the drunks at that tavern refrain from mentioning anything. After all, everyone knew that Kaeya Alberich was once a Ragnvindr. It was an unspoken agreement never to sully the place with those rumors, especially the bad ones.

All the rumors completely cease, however, the moment Diluc Ragnvindr returns to Mondstadt.

“How long?” Despite being the Acting Grand Master, Jean winced as the voice of Diluc Ragnvindr broke the silence. She was grateful for Lisa and the Traveler’s company as she looked up at the red-haired man. His face gave nothing away, but his fists were clenched at his sides.

“A month.” For the briefest of moments, a pained look flashed in his eyes, but it was gone - replaced by anger. At her? At the Knights? Both? “He went to Starsnatch Cliff because someone had reported sightings of an Abyss Mage. He insisted on it. He never came back, I sent out—”

“Knights of Favonius, always so inefficient.” He snaps out, his rage boiling over as he stalks out of the room, the door slamming shut behind him. Jean can’t find it in herself to chase after him.

The Traveler knew a thing or two about missing siblings. They also knew about the rumors. So, as Lisa and Jean began to talk, they quickly slipped out of the room to follow the red-haired man.

It wasn’t much, not enough to even hand over as evidence to the Knights of Favonius - and they tried but Jean said it wouldn’t have helped! - but maybe it might help soothe the man’s anger. They would give anything to have a token of their sibling’s, a reassurance as to where they were.

The man didn’t have time to react as The Traveler pressed the only clue they’d found about the Cavalry Captain’s whereabouts to his hand. Then, with a soft understanding smile, they slipped back to Jean’s office. Hopefully, the little token would give the man hope that not all was lost.

A bloodied eyepatch sat in the palm of his hands. He’d been mulling over it for an hour as he sat behind the tavern bar. Something had happened on Starsnatch Cliff. Hilichurls and Abyss Mages didn’t leave blood, so this was entirely Kaeya’s own. Unless, there were Treasure Hoarders…

No. Kaeya wouldn’t lose to treasure hoarders. And… Kaeya wouldn’t have gone with the Abyss Mages. Back to Khaenri’ah… would he? However, Kaeya was a spy, Diluc was sure of that fact.

In any case, he also knew that Kaeya wasn’t dead. He couldn’t be dead. That would mean… Diluc didn’t want to think about it. He’d go find Kaeya himself since the Knights were useless. When he finds him, he’ll have to decide whether to be relieved or to kill him for being a traitor.

Kaeya didn’t know how long he’d been here, tucked away inside the entrance to a ruin as the man who’d once protected him kept him from leaving. When he thought over the many ways his past would come for him, he never thought it would be this. He’d thought Dain had died, but he was here, and he had no intention of letting the Prince of Khaenri’ah leave his sight ever again.

Of course, Kaeya hadn’t planned to sit there in the ruins without trying to escape, but alas… Dainsleif had caught him. He’d taken his knives, his sword, his Cryo Vision, and tied him up.

Dainslief would leave at times, preparing for a trip that would lead them home.

Home. To the ruins of Khaenri’ah? To the Abyss?

Home was Mondstandt. Home was the Dawn Winery. Home was with Crepus and Diluc…

It is all he could to keep himself calm as he hears rushing heavy footsteps come towards him.

He begs it’s someone come to save him.

Pokémon Teams

Since I’m playing Light Platinum rn, I couldn’t help but think what Pokémon teams c!Wilbur, c!George, and c!Fundy will have + notes of other characters’ Pokémons but I don’t have that full of an idea to really write them down and quite frankly my mind can really only focus on dads!wiggy + sondy.

Fundy

Teddiursa - First Pokémon. He got this one as a gift from Wilbur. If you’re wondering why I gave him this one in particular, well it’s an inside joke (because I love the idea of Wilbur being Wilbear—) and it’s a cute Pokémon and I feel Wilbur would give Fundy a cute Pokémon instead of something cooler or stronger.

Nickit - Second Pokémon. He shares this one with Niki. This one is in reference to Fungi, who was Niki and Fundy’s pet fox who Sapnap killed. Hopefully the Pokémon fairs better lmao.

Litten - Third Pokémon. Litten’s a cat Pokémon which is a reference to cc!Fundy’s actual cat, Boots. Plus, Litten is a Fire Type and I think Fundy should have a fire type because he has to burn the L’Manburg flag down.

Honedge - Fourth Pokémon. This one isn’t really Fundy’s Pokémon, this is actually Schlatt’s Pokémon that Fundy decided to take after Schlatt’s death, as a reference to the Shclatt Sword. Ignore the Pokedex entry...

Darkrai - Fifth Pokémon. Well... not exactly Fundy’s Pokémon, but it more or less decides to stay near Fundy. This is in reference to Fundy’s reoccurring nightmares and Darkrai is known to cause nightmares.

Alolan Vulpix - Sixth Pokémon. This one is a reference to Yogurt.

Wilbur

Murkrow - First Pokémon. He got this one as a gift from Phil because crow. Wilbur also uses his Murkrow to send letters to Phil.

Toxtricity - Second Pokémon. A reference to cc!Wilbur being a musician because the Gigantamax form has an electric guitar.

Ursaring - Third Pokémon. The second part to the inside joke in giving Fundy Teddiursa, because Wilbur being a Papa Bear type of guy... at first.

Golem - Fourth Pokémon. So there are other Pokémon that have the move Self-Destruct, but most of them didn’t really vibe with Pogtopiabur other than Golem. It’s also known to be immune to dynamite explosions and Wilbur did blow up Manburg... and he survived the explosion. So, I feel Golem fits more with his character.

Wooloo - Fifth Pokémon. Not really Wilbur’s Pokémon since this is supposed to be Ghostbur’s Pokémon, as a reference to Friend.

Ho-Oh - Sixth Pokémon. I know it’s a Legendary Pokémon, but it’s the only Pokémon that canonically can resurrect the dead.

George

Shroomish - First Pokémon. I guess this is also an inside joke, though not by that much since I’m sure everyone already knows Mushroomgy or Mushroom Hybrid! George because of the house he made.

Abra - Second Pokémon. This guy sleeps a lot, so I think he should have Pokémon that sleep a lot or having sleep-inducing abilities.

Jigglypuff - Third Pokémon. A gift from Wilbur, because Wiggy and you can pry this ship out of my cold dead hands. Jigglypuff because it makes you sleep when it sings, so it helps connect to Wil being a musician too.

Hypno - Fourth Pokémon. Another sleep-inducing Pokémon and it eats dreams... the joke is there haha do with that what you will.

Shiinotic - Fifth Pokémon. A mushroom Pokémon but I mostly chose it because of the way it looks... yeah I feel like it fits George’s vibe.

Arceus - Sixth Pokémon. Listen. If god (Dream XD) canonically likes George and considers him a friend, then I think the Pokémon equivalent of god would also like George.

Additional Notes

Ranboo and Fundy having a shared Pokémon, Vanilluxe, but it was left abandoned just like the Ice Cream Shop :)

Phil having a Honchkrow and having a ton of Murkrow that he sometimes gives to other people. He has given Murkrows to Wilbur, Techno, Niki, and Ranboo.

Dream and Tommy also having a Ho-Oh, mostly because Tommy also got revived and Dream technically can revive people so...

Other people that I think would have Legendary Pokémon is Techno, Phil, Foolish, and Tubbo... except Tubbo lost his Legendary Pokémon and no one knows where it is (in reference to the missing nuke).

I thought about Slimecicle, and I am torn from him having a Legendary Pokémon because I think it would be funny... or if he’s just a Ditto.

Only because I find it funny, Dream has a Yamask.

the kits being avians is cute, just imagine Susie trying to fly because she wants to fly with her parents, Wilbur tells her that her wings aren't strong enough to fly yet while George holds the second baby, who has very soft wings like a chick

It was a standoff. Susie stood in front of her Daddy, arms crossed over her chest, glaring with so much force that her little two year old body can muster.

"I undewshtand how to fwy!"

"You're still a baby, Susie-"

"NO! I'm big! I'm big shishtewr!" She looks like she's about to cry, only willing herself not to.

George listens to this from the bedroom and shakes his head, weary but amused. He coos at the sleeping triplets - they really look like angels when they're not awake - and chuckles when he sees Vincent try his best to find James, clinging tightly, leaving Georgina unaware and soundly asleep.
