Aliens on the brain. Trying to do some self reflection and spiritual meditation using the cancer zodiac palette (because if you could see my astrology chart it is 80% water for. Pretty much everything.). Evidently they see earth as a sort of tourist attraction. I think their really big ships are like cruise ships. They hide themselves in the ocean. Mostly benevolent or at least neutral.

And we have the same dna

So if we’re relatives the idea of being a star seed holds some value. (Though I have no interest in that cult but the concept of it has tickled my fancy)

Trying to figure out how to visualize that fuckin bassline in showbiz

How make flow from bottom to top? At the same time.

Bassline is dark for me. Usually show up as vertical lines

Matt’s vocals are high light and flowy and build. Swirly lines

Guitar I think represented as falling droplets

But that bassline drives and I want that showcased without totally over taking.

And drum. Not sure how to represent it either.

Lift this one over at my friend’s studio. Looking back on it with fresh eyes I feel less like I ruined it so it will be interesting to come back to in a few weeks. There’s an art crawl at their building in two weeks so planning on going back. Bringing some of my art seeing if any of it might sell bc why not.

Want to try to regularly get up there so I can be at least partially in that art scene up there. For whatever reason I feel like in person sales makes sense more than like online promotion does? but it’s also a somewhat familiar area for me since I have worked in sales so it feels less intimidating if you can believe. The in person piece.

But I think the other comfort is just literally having people I’m comfortable with right nearby. My buffer people.

For context I grew up with selective mutism that presents itself a bit differently these days but I can still feel it there. If I could have advocated for myself when I was younger I would have advocated that I need a safe person nearby or a buffer person. That’s the fastest way to get me feeling more comfortable and able to open up more. Where I am currently I’m trying to navigate the local art world with no buffer person and so it’s really hard for me. I don’t feel like I can do it here but doing it there feels easy. Weird how that works.

So tbh I couldn’t decide which orientation I liked better. I signed it as vertical but tbh it could go horizontal.

I challenged myself with this one by making the softness in this the dark colors rather than the light ones which is what I typically would resort to first.

I loved how saturated only a few of the colors were and because they were so bright I wanted them to stand out almost like light on a dark background for the line work. I loved this palette and I found it a lot of fun. I have to challenge myself with it a few more times.

Not sure if I’m really “done” with this painting. The intent was for this to be the first layer but I always get super attached to a full layer of line work. So it’s about what I can let go of. And I’m not so good at that part.

So it’s just been chilling in this phase while I try to decide what I want to do with it.
