instagram ban 310825
10 years ago i naively thought i would try to post an image a day to instagram
after nearly 4000 posts my account has been shadow banned for the last 6 months because of my mentions of trump / gaza / drugs / etc
all my images for harris in the outer hebrides have been removed thanks to kamala harris
as have all the recent images in the fentanyl series because it was assumed i was dealing drugs
my trump mashups have all been removed
i'm too old to care about online likes but the 2 million hits a week i got before the ban led to a load of interesting collaborations and meetings with inspirational people i would never have come across
a bunch of book collaborations and over 500 album covers
where interactions are not about money or likes but mutual respect
the sort of thing that social media has the potential to be but rarely is
after a number of appeals and help from the wonderful digital department at the arts council i have given up
i really appreciate everyones interest over the last decade and everyones work as a source of inspiration
my new account is www.instagram.com/friel.co
on a more serious note @khaledbeydoun had 9 posts removed last week under the “community standards” feature, all of them addressing the famine in gaza
porn is fine but politics is apparently not

technical error 130725
Relatives mourn Palestinian child Saraj Ibrahim 130725
Ten people, including six children, have been killed in an Israeli air strike while waiting to fill water containers in central Gaza on Sunday, emergency service officials say.
Their bodies were sent to Nuseirat's al-Awda Hospital, which also treated 16 injured people including seven children, a doctor there said.
Eyewitnesses said a drone fired a missile at a crowd queuing with empty jerry cans next to a water tanker in al-Nuseirat refugee camp.
The Israeli military said there had been a "technical error" with a strike targeting an Islamic Jihad "terrorist" that caused the munition to fall dozens of meters from the target. The incident is under review, the military added.
