Glancing over at her, he frowned.

"Why not? It's May, and they only bloom for a short while."

She smiled innocently and gave him a quick peck on the cheek, before laying back down.

"G'nite, Shin."

As soon as her eyes shut, his own darted back to the vase. The small, white bell flowers bowed heavily in the pale moonlight; to her, a symbol of love, sincerity and happiness. Of him. To him, a cruel and painful reminder of the past.

"...nite."

Staring up at the ceiling once again, he sighed and placed an arm under his head.

Thank heavens they only last for a short while..

✨️Christmas day✨️

Shinji: Ugly Christmas shirts™. Bonus if Santa hats as well. Short walk in the snow after dinner, to the sweet sound of him constantly complaining about how cold it is. Lots of laughing, some headaches. So much more love.

Sosuke: Expensive, yet light, lunch at a restaurant, followed by takeaway coffee to enjoy on the way home. Only you and him, the entire day. Quiet evening in front of a fireplace, soft touches, feather light kisses.

Byakuya: Buying anything you ask for, no matter how silly. Your happiness is everything to him, and as long as he gets to see your smile, he will even agree to go to a social gathering with all your friends. Looking forward to having you all to himself for the rest of the night, since he is planning on taking you iceskating.

Kensei: Staying in bed for as long as possible. Cuddling, kissing and relishing the rare moment of silence while everyone else is busy stressing about with food and guests. Doing everything slow, savoring each and every moment with you before the busy afternoon.

Kenpachi: Don't really care for the holidays. You're his every other day of the year, why would this day be any different? He does quite enjoy seeing your eyes sparkle in the Christmas lights, though. But he won't admit it.
